The Winter People

About
The Winter People:

SalomeMontgomery fears winter—the cold, the snow, the ice, but most of all, the frozen pond she fell through as a child. Haunted by the voices and images of the strange beings that pulled her to safety, she hasn’t forgotten their warning to “stay away.” For eleven years, she has avoided the winter woods, the pond, and the darkness that lurks nearby. But when failing health takes her grandparents to Arizona, she is left in charge of maintaining their estate. This includes the “special gifts” that must be left at the back of the property.

Salome discovers she’s a key player in a world she’s tried for years to avoid. At the center of this world is the strange and beautiful Nevin, who she finds trespassing on her family’s property. Cursed with dark secrets and knowledge of the creatures in the woods, he takes Salome’s life in a new direction. A direction where she’ll have to decide between her longtime crush, Colton, who could cure her fear of winter. Or Nevin, who, along with an appointed bodyguard, Gareth, protects her from the darkness that swirls in the snowy backdrop.

An evil that, given the chance, will kill her.

About Rebekah L. Purdy

Rebekah L. Purdy

I was born and raised in Michigan (just look for the mitten-shaped state on the map). I’ve lived here most of my life other than the few years I spent in the U.S. Army.  At which time I got a chance to experience MO, KS, SC, and CA.

I work full time for the court system and in my free time I write YA stories. Pretty much any genre within the YA realm is game for me, but my favorites are fantasy, urban fantasy, paranormal romance, thrillers, light sci-fi, and some time travel.

I also have a big family–I like to consider us the modern day Brady Bunch. When my hubby and I met and got married, he had 3 children from a previous marriage, I had 2 and we have 1 together. It’s a lot of fun though.

And I can’t forget my other family members–yep, we’ve got some pets: 4 dogs, 3 cats,  and 1 turtle. Everyone in the family has one…I won’t bore you all with their names (unless you really want to know). Okay, you talked me into it! Jack, Pearl, Grr…(yes that’s my dog’s name), Callie, Shadow, Mooshoo, Grouchy, and Sorbert. Other than writing some of my other hobbies include: reading (mostly YA of course), singing, swimming, football, soccer, running, camping, sledding, church, hanging with my kids, and traveling.

I belong to a fabulous writing group called YA Fiction Fantatics (YAFF) and you guessed it we all write YA!

 My Review

This was a very wintery book lol. And yes I am talking winter Fae, I’ll give that up, but with that in mind, don’t let that fool you into thinking you won’t be surprised with this one. I sure was! A girl who can see an hear things others can’t, who is completely terrified of all things winter. Magic that her family knows about but won’t tell her. It a fantastic whirl wind ride that will have you terrified of snow and praying for summer- unless you live in south Louisiana like I do, then you’ll beg for snow all year long :)

Salome is a girl who almost died in the winter at 8 years old. Something tried to kill her and then something else save her. No one believes her and her own mother thinks she’s crazy so keeps her on medication. But this year she’s turning 18 and things are about to get real bad for her. But not everything. She meets Nevin and Gareth who are beautiful and become her friends, she finally lands her forever crush, Colton, but he isn’t who he seems, though no one is.  And she has a really good human friend who goes out of her way to help Salome cope with the winter. Salome struggles for the whole book to figure out the mysteries surrounding the magical things and then she starts getting death threats by an unseen lady. This one will leave you guessing until the very end.

Normally I would tell you about all the awesome HAWT guys and side characters but the mystery of figuring out the good and the bad is too good, so I won’t lol but I will say that the magical world building is fantastic. I felt the cold all the way to my toes, and believe me, it’s scorching hot right now where I live! But I will say I liked her grandma and I really wanted to slap her mother, several times. Ugh!

Be ready to hold in to your seat. The mystery, suspense and CREEPTASTIC factor will keep you stuck in this book til the end. The writing was excellent and I just had to know the end. And the end is so very very well done. I loved it and I say 5 SNOWY PAWS!!

Sapphire's Divinity 3x
Title:  Sapphire’s  Divinity
Author:  Justine  Winter
Genre:  Paranormal  Romance

Blurb:

I  was  a  hybrid  werewolf  with  a  secret  destiny  shadowed  by  a  prophecy  the  Ancient  Guardians  foretold.  The  same  Ancient  Guardians  that  had  organised  the  annual  Alpha  summit  Riley  had  been  summoned  to.

Since  Jackson’s  demon  threat  everyone  was  powered  up  on  overtime  at  the  gym.  Train,  sweat,  repeat.  Train,  sweat,  repeat.

But  all  that  rage-filled  preparation  wasn’t  enough.  We  were  being  targeted  by  something  new,  and  it  didn’t  stop  there.

The  summit  was  proving  to  be  my  nemesis.  Egotistical  morons  challenged  me  with  threats  to  the  one  I  loved,  and  I  knew  I  couldn’t  endure  a  life  without  Riley.

Besides  all  of  that,  there  was  one  thing  I  was  finally  understanding  about  the  supernatural.  Nothing  was  as   it  seemed.

Not  even  me.

My Review

Well holy hot damn, this is a fantastic sequel! Luna is now adjusting quite well to her new life, but she is now learning to live with the consequences both good and bad of those changes. She has transformed into a wonderful woman, and I love how she has become so much more. She has done a wonderful job with all the changes occurring in her life. She really is a wonderfully written character. And of course the author has left us wanting so mure chore.  And Riley, dude I am having horrible thoughts about how to get rid of Luna to steal Riley. LOL Actually I am thinking that I like Luna too much that Riley is just going to have to find me a wolfy boyfriend so I can have my own :) Riley has become one of the best male characters I’ve read in a long time. Of course he has some flaws, but everyone does. But he’s turned into a wonderful person, not just a wonderful alpha, and he’s definitely a mate worthy of Luna. They are one of the most amazing couples every.

There’s a whole lot going on here. There’s fall out from the incident at the end of book one. And now, Luna and Riley have to not only take care of their pack, but go meet with the big Council. And let’s just say that there’s some horrible people who need to die. But we also get to meet new characters who are just as awesome. I loved the conversations between Luna and the Ancients. It made me giggle when it wasn’t making me have heart failure with all the big bombs dropping. The plot for this story has added even more action and mystery around these characters. It’s quite an amazing ride.

There’s still threats, and there’s still love. I can’t wait to read book three. Really, this has become a need to have series for me. Well done Ms Justine!! Amazing! 5 FANTASTIC WOLFY PAWS!!!

Character  Interview:

Hey  Nick!  Thanks  so  much  for  dropping  by  today. How  are  you?
Thanks  for  having  me!  You  know,  right now  my  family  is  going  through  a  lot,  and  as  Beta  it’s  hard  work  trying  to  keep  everyone  from  panicking.  I’m  exhausted,  but  at  least  I  have  my  good  looks  and  humour  to  keep  me  going.

Ha!  Don’t  forget  your  self-assured  charm.
How  could  I?  [He winks]  I  make  the  ladies  swoon.  I’m  pretty  much  providing  a  service  here.  Sign-up  for  some  naughty  fun  today;  I  promise  to  provide  laughs  no  matter  the  situation.

Oh,  you’re  cracking  me  up  here!  Do  you  think  your  humour  helps  lighten  the  darkness  that’s  embarking  on  Nature’s  Destiny  right  now?
Simply  put,  yes.  I  mean,  wouldn’t  you  prefer  to  laugh  about  your  chances  of  survival,  rather  than  spend  what  could  be  your  last  days  terrified?  Fear  has  this  penetrability  that  kills  hope,  and  if  you  think  you’re  gonna  die,  chances  are  you  will  because  you’ve  already  given  up  the  fight.  So  if  I  have  to  crack  a  joke  to  cut  through  the  seriousness  then  I  will.  Plus,  moaning  hurts  my  ears.

How  do  you  feel  about  Luna  joining  the  pack?  Did  that  come  as  a  surprise?
At  first  it  did,  I  mean  nobody  knew  apart  from  Riley  about  the  possibility  of  a  white  wolf,  let  alone  the  prophecy  that  came  with  her.  But,  Luna,  man,  where  do  I  begin?  She’s  so  strong,  and  I  don’t  just  mean  physically  either.  Shane  and  I  were  waiting  for  her  to  go  into  some  catatonic  state,  but  she  never  did.  She  just  brushes  it  off,  accepts  it  and  faces  it  head  on.  She  has  the  biggest  heart,  but  I’m  worried  about  her  because  I  know  how  much  she’s  willing  to  give  up  to  save  everyone.  She’s  prepared  to  die,  but  we’re  not  ready  to  say  goodbye.

Do  you  think  it’ll  come  down  to  that?
I  have  no  idea,  but  you’ve  seen  her  in  action.  She  carries  this  weight  on  her  shoulder  because  of  the  prophecy,  so  it  makes  her  reckless.  And  then  we  see  her  powers!  Bloody  hell,  I’m  waiting  for  the  day  when  she  finds  out  she  can’t  do  something.

It  looks  like  it  might  be  a  long  wait!  Let’s  talk  about  Sky.  Is  there  something  between  you?
[Smiles  mischievously]  I  bet  you  were  dying  to  ask  that  question  weren’t  you?  You  know,  I’m  always  having  fun  with  this.  Luna  keeps  trying  to  scorn  me  about  Sky,  but  then  I  remind  her  she’s  shacking  up  with  my  best  friend.  I  hear  the  bells  of  double  standards,  don’t  you?  Sky  is  absolutely  beautiful,  and  she’s  straight  up  honest,  but  she’s  also  human  and  there  are  rules,  blah,  blah,  blah.  But  I’m  not  the  kind  of  wolf  that  doesn’t  say  never.  So  who  knows  what  could  happen  in  the  future?

How  does  Lara  factor  into  this  equation?
[Looks  confused] Lara?  She’s  like  my  sister,  we’ve  grown  up  together.  I  love  her  just  as  much  as  I  love  Faye  and  Roxy.  We’re  family.

That’s  great.  Well,  I  think  we’ll  leave  it  there  today,  and  let  you  get  back  to  the  pack.  I  wish  you  the  very  best  with  the  battle. Oh wait, know any single wolves maybe interested in dating a nice, no not nice, umm, a good cook from South Louisiana? LOL Come one, help me out here!

I’ve always lived a life based on my imagination, from hopeless dreams of romance to concocting alternate realities involving supernaturals. I’m completely fascinated with anything hero-related, and often speculate which superpower I’d possess. I haven’t settled on one yet.

I was born in England, and currently reside in Wales, UK. I love to write, and most days you’ll find me happily tapping away at the computer whilst in my pyjama-clad bubble. I also spend my time reading, and if that isn’t enough I’m often in the kitchen baking up a treat.

EXERPT
“The vehicle swerved, perhaps to avoid a deer or some other wildlife, and dropped off the embankment, coming to rest there.” Officer Richardson indicated the car’s current position. “The passenger was ejected, and the male driver appears to have died on impact. We’ve identified him.” He paused and flipped through several more pages of his notebook. “Scott Malone of Indianapolis. The female passenger wasn’t carrying identification. I’ll notify Mr. Malone’s next of kin, and hopefully they can help me ID the woman.”
“Thanks. I’ll do my reading, and then we can all go home.”
“I’ll wait by my car for you to finish.” Brad still wasn’t comfortable with the fact I used magic on the job, even after months of working together.

“It shouldn’t take long,” I shrugged, trying to put him at ease. “That is, if the weather holds out.”

It was overcast, and the starless sky added to the grim mood on the ground. The heavy clouds crouching over the scene threatened snow at any moment. The moisture screwed with the energy flow, making it harder to gather power, so I needed to wrap this up quick.
“I should be able to make a ruling in a few minutes,” I said, and with a renewed sense of urgency headed toward the Toyota. As I followed the path the car had taken, nothing seemed unusual. I opened the door, and the metallic tang of blood assaulted me. The driver was hunched over the steering wheel. The head wound looked serious, but blood wasn’t always a clear indication of damage. The only way I’d know for sure was an examination.
I snapped a few photographs and slipped off my rings, dropping them into my pocket. With my new ink, I didn’t have to draw spell glyphs on my hands anymore. I pulled on my gloves, ready to do the reading. I gathered power and drew it through the caduceus on my wrist. Images flashed behind my closed eyes.
Liver damage from habitual drinking. A healed knife wound. Two fractured ribs. A compound fracture of the wrist. Two burst fractures of the lumbar spine. A fractured skull and brain trauma.
The injuries were jumbled together in such a short span of time, it was hard to tell which one came first, but the brain trauma was clearly the cause of death. Everything seemed to be in line with an auto accident. I took a few more photographs and moved on to the body on the ground, removing the white sheet.
The unidentified girl was pretty. Strawberry blonde hair splayed around her head and a sprinkling of freckles dotted her baby face. She looked far too young to end up with me.
“I’m so sorry,” I said, smoothing the hair from her face. “I’ll take care of you. I promise.” I placed a hand over each of her eyes, and a hot flash of power surged up my arms. I jerked my hand back.
What the hell?
My fingers burned from the contact. Shaking them, I gave it a second try, but this time I avoided touching her directly. My hands hovered just over her eyes, and I sent out my power. There was resistance, and the images never came. Something wasn’t right.

my review

Well I’ve got a few new adventure with this one. I love when a paranormal story mixes in mystery as a main element and this one was fantastic. A witch with unique powers who works for the coroners office to help the police solve crimes of victims, sounds good right? Well it gets better when you throw in some crazy witch hunters trying to frame her, a crazy ex boyfriend and some new HAWT guys and a wonderful best friend!

Olivia is a wonderful leading lady to follow. She runs a funeral home and works with the coroners office. She prefers the dead because she’s an empath and it a little terrible to be around so many people with so many emotions. She loves her jobs and had a lovely best friend who is not only her assistant be a fellow witch. She is overall just well rounded. She has her flaws and she has her ignorance but she also has a good heart and is such a likable person. And then she comes across some very dark magic and it seems her world is completely falling apart. I liked her- a lot.

And the best part is you don’t actually know exactly who is really behind all the bad things happening. Olivia is learning things as she is trying to unravel the mystery around the deaths and the treats made to her. It was cool to learn with her as she did. And then when you learn everything at the end with that jaw dropping finale, you may slap yourself for not noticing those little things. And then I kept thinking it was going to be this person or that person, I had two in mind, and then… Well you’ll have to find out on your own. :)

The writing is very well done, I couldn’t put it down. The plot was intriguing and had me hooked. I think the characters are also very well done. I really do hope this becomes a series because I want more! I want to know what will happen to Olivia and her friends after the fall out of everything. I somehow doubt it’ll just go back to normal and with those big wigs sniffing around I just want more!! Gimme gimme! :) 5 WITCHY PAWS!!

Torrent (Condemned, #1)

Torrent (Condemned #1)

I’ve been obsessed with Rafe Mason since I was thirteen. The twisted part of this story is that I still want him, even now.
Now that he’s holding me captive on an island.
Rafe has his reasons for doing what he’s doing, and if I’m honest, I can’t blame him. I’m the girl who sent him to prison for a heinous crime he didn’t commit.
But now he’s free and the tables have turned…now he’s the one driven by obsession.

TORRENT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content that includes sexual situations and violence. Intended for adult readers 18+ only. Part one of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read.

 My Review
So this isn’t my normal cup of tea, but it’s so intriguing that I decided to just go with it. Now I’m thinking I might need therapy lol but it’s dark and disturbing and yet I still thought it was a really good book. A lot of that is the writing, so it’s so well done that I’m thinking therapy is worth it :) it’s a gritty, terrifying tale that will leave you speechless or maybe you’ll feel better about yourself, I’m still not sure. All I know is that I definitely went on a whirlwind ride with this one.

So Alex, aka Lex, blamed an innocent man, Rafe, for a very horrible crime. Worse, he was her brothers best friend, and her brother is the real villain here. She is a lost soul, broken to me. I could never understand why she made the choices she did or was ever ok with how things turned out. Yes she HA guilt but obviously not quite enough to fix it. And now she is the captive of Rafe, who just wants her to have the pain he’s had. It’s definitely not an easy walk to take in Lex’s shoes.

Rafe was in prison for 8 years for something he did not do. And he wants revenge. I don’t condone Rafe and the way he handled things but a part of me almost understands. I don’t know how I’d feel if every single thing was taken from me because of a lie told by a girl he knew to cover up a horrible crime. And then he learns why she lied and what really happened.

Be prepared for a lot of shock factors. This was not my comfort zone, and yet, even of I hated it I don’t know if I could have stopped because there was something so gripping about this story. And though it’s not my normal fantasy favorite, no magic or swords and shifters, the only reason it’s not a 5 paw is that the damn characters kept making me mad. Lex and her spiteful reasons, her horrible step brother, her father- dude come on how did you NOT SEE SOMETHING!!! And Rafe and his obsession, and strange reasoning as well. But the writing was so good and the actual story line and plot was just enveloping for me to not keep reading. And heads up, there’s a cliff hanger! Kind of a lulu at the drop off lol so I’m thinking I might have to read book two when it comes out. 4 PAWS :)

My Review

I both really liked and got really frustrated with this book. First, it really is a good book and it’s a quick read, it’s fun, and there’s so many good things. But my biggest complaint is that maybe some just a little research would have been needed. So, Summer is turning 21 and she’s a veterinarian-in training- already. This is not possible unless you are a GENIUS. Um, as someone who had to go to school for all of this, you actually have to go to vet school, so there’s no way she’s a doctor in  her residency yet. Yeah I know but it’s something that stuck with me. And then on the positive note, she really cares about her animals. I loved that part. Plus Summer has really good friends and a great vet to work with. I would love her circle of friends.

Another thing that I both liked and became frustrated with. The reaction to supernatural beings. Like dude, he’s a vampire, and no one even blinked an eye. They all just had no reaction. So, I know some are more open minded than others, but seriously, I’d have to poke him with a stake, and throw some holy water on him to make sure LOL. But bringing Sully to work everyday, I was all cool with that LOL maybe I just have an aversion to those vampers.

I love the relationships between Summer and her friends. She has good friends and great coworkers, and being from an orphanage it’s a wonder everyone is as normal as they are. And there’s plenty of hot guys. I know she is going to have some fun coming with more books in the series.  AND heads up, there’s a cliff hanger. A big one. But I look forward to seeing where this series is going and I do look forward to seeing more of Summer’s journey, especially because I love Sully!! :) 4 HELLHOUND PAWS!!

Author Interview

First, tell me a little about your book :)….
A young woman finds a hellhound pup and takes it in since it’s mother is found dead. Craziness ensues with raising a hellhound while she tries to find a missing item for her landlord.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?
It was a dare I posed to my teenage daughter one summer. She was bored as all teens are and I told her she should get together with some of her artist friends and make a graphic novel. I told her if she did, I would attempt to write a vampire book. Needless to say she did not write a graphic novel, but I wrote Blood of a Werewolf, which is the first of five in the Blood Series.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?
I had been reading a bunch of YA books that wet spring, and afterwards I read an article by Ellen Schreiber stating that some one on a plane suggested she write a book. She ended up writing the series Vampire Kisses which I adore. She said if she could do it, anyone could. Well since I’m ‘anyone’, I sat down and voila, I wrote a book.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Of course. You write what you know. Of course I don’t know any vampires or hellhounds personally, but the characters are still people and have experiences and emotions like anyone of us and that is where I use my experiences.

How do you chose when/which characters die in your books?
So far only the bad guys have died. I haven’t come to a point where I want /need to kill off one of my creations. Besides all my books are Happily Ever After’s so it makes it hard to kill off people under that scenario

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?
Truthfully, I don’t get a lot of reading in – too busy lately. Though a friend of mine just finished a YA book called Hollow’s End that I read in the airport on the way back from a conference and I loved it – the author’s name is Marianne Morea.

Who do you look up to as a writer?
Anne Rice is one of my all time favs and I was lucky enough to meet her last year at a Con I attended. She’s the one who got me interested in witches. Jim Butcher is another fav – love, love, love his Dresden Series. He’s got such a great sense of humor and I try to emulate that in my writing. And of course, there’s Stephen King. I haven’t read any of his recent stuff but I grew up reading his books and love the way he paints terror in ones mind.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?
I’ve re-released the Blood series after finding an editor that really challenges me, I think the books now are as good as they are ever going to get. As for Finding Midnight, I don’t think I’ve had enough time to think about that, though when I start work on the sequel I might very well have some things I wish I could change in the first book.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Editing….Ugh! Hate it! Once I’m done I don’t want to go back and play with it once, twice, thrice and sometimes even more.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre?
I almost always read YA. My ‘To Be Read’ pile is taller than I am. But I will say that my next purchase will be Julie Morgan’s Fallen. We became great friends at the last Con I went to and I’m intrigued by her Chronicles of the Fallen series.

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?
For the Blood Series the first round I did the covers, but when I decided to re-release them I wanted covers that somehow linked them together. I worked with M.S. Fowle and she did a great job.
On Finding Midnight I was recommended to an Illustrator by another author friend to contact Jennifer Meyer. I described the book and she’d do some work than ask me questions about scenery, character traits, etc. then she’d go and work some more. Before I knew it she had this beautiful cover I was thrilled to say is mine.

Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?
Oh yes. I do research on folklore, places, supernatural creatures, religions. It’s fascinating. I like when I read a book and walk a way feeling I learned something and I hope that my readers walk away from my books learning a little something too.

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?
Wow…In Finding Midnight, I think probably Summer’s quirky side-kick Tori. I think she’s a kick in the pants and she’s so willing to try anything. I’m probably more like Summer where I’m a bit timid about jumping into something new and tend to be more introverted.

Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because?
Well I would recommend Anne Rice’s Witching Hour if you haven’t read it, it will most definitely get you psyched about witches. The Secret Circle series by L.J. Smith. I think I’ve read all of her books and hope to one day ‘fan girl’ in her presence.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Thank you. Every reader is important to me. I’m self-published and I work very hard to honor my readers with handmade swag and heart felt greetings. I’ve even written a poem to show my appreciation:
An AUTHOR’s efforts are all for naught
Without a READER whose book they’ve bought

So HAIL! To the READER, I bend my knee
A ‘Happily Ever After’ to YOU, from ME.

HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY Blood Beyond Darkness!!! W a giveaway :)

It’s HERE! The day has
finally arrived!

The final book in the Darkness Series has arrived!!

After months of searching, Ember and her friends have finally located the Sword of Light, the only weapon capable of destroying Queen Aneira and ending her rule. This is Ember’s destiny. Or so she thought. Now a pact to save the man she loves changes everything.

In this final installment in the Darkness Series, when the truth comes to light, Ember will learn some things are better left in the dark as her world is ripped even further apart. It is no longer a rabbit hole, but a never-ending black void full of endless lies, betrayals, and secrets.

The fight for Earth has begun, and Ember will have to make the ultimate sacrifice to save millions of innocent lives and those she loves.

But this price may be too high—even for her.

Stacey Marie Brown by day is an Interior/Set Designer, by night a writer of Paranormal Fantasy, Adventure, and Literary Fiction. She grew up in Northern California, where she ran around on her family’s farm, raising animals, riding horses, playing flashlight tag, and turning hay bales into cool forts. Even before she could write, she was creating stories and making up intricate fantasies. Writing came as easy as breathing. She later turned that passion into acting, living and traveling abroad, and designing. Though she had never stopped writing, moving back to San Francisco seemed to have brought it back to the forefront and this time it would not be ignored.

When she’s not writing she’s out hiking, spending time with friends, traveling, listening to music, or designing.

**Warning: The Darkness Series is not YA, but a NA Series**

Darkness of Light (Darkness #1)

Ember Brycin has been called them all. She’s always known she’s different. No one has ever called her normal, even under the best circumstances. Bizarre and inexplicable things continually happen to her, and having two different colored eyes, strange hair, and an unusual tattoo only contributes to the gossip about her.

When the latest school explosion lands her in a facility for troubled teens, she meets Eli Dragen, who’s hot as hell and darkly mysterious. Their connection is full of passion, danger, and secrets. Secrets that will not only change her life, but what and who she is—leading her down a path she never imagined possible.

Between Light and Dark, Ember finds a world where truth and knowledge are power and no one can be trusted. But her survival depends on finding out the truth about herself. In her pursuit, she is forced between love and destiny and good and evil, even when the differences between them aren’t always clear. At worst, she will incite a war that could destroy both worlds. At best, she will not only lose her heart but her life and everyone she loves. Once the truth is out, however, there will be no going back. And she’ll definitely wish she could.

Fire in the Darkness (Darkness #2)

It’s been four weeks since Ember Brycin witnessed what her powers are capable of. The Electrical Current Storm has turned Seattle, Washington into a natural disaster zone. The death toll is in the thousands with countless others homeless and hungry.
And Ember is the one who caused it. Something she will have to live with every day.

Those people who were unable to escape either turned quickly into gangs or live in shelters. Ember, on the other hand, can’t do either. With a price on her head and a Dark Dweller on her ass, she is constantly on the move. Both Light and Dark are hunting her for their own purpose to use her as a weapon or a pawn in the war between the Unseelie King of the Dark and the Seelie Queen of the Light.

Em needs help but doesn’t know who to trust: Lars, the mystery man Torin told her to find? Torin, the Seelie Queen’s personal knight, who has sworn to keep Em safe? Or Eli, who wants to turn her over to the Unseelie King, but whom she has an undeniable, intense connection with?

No matter what she chooses she will probably lose—her life or everything and everyone she loves.

Beast In The Darkness (An Elighan Dragen Novelette)

(Darkness #2.5)

We know the story from Ember’s POV, but what happens to Eli after Ember disappears? Crawl inside Eli’s mind and experience what he goes through. Be warned his mind in not a fuzzy warm place to be….

Dwellers of Darkness (Darkness #3)

Some days feel like years, but in Ember Brycin’s case just the opposite is true. Em would be 22 now—if she were human. She’s not. She is a Dae—part Demon and part Fay—with a little Dark Dweller thrown in to make her more of a freak.

Life has become further complicated for Ember since returning from the Otherworld. Besides being continuously hunted by the Seelie Queen, Ember is at the top of the Unseelie King’s list, after breaking her oath with him. No one breaks a vow with the Unseelie King without extreme consequences.

Adding to Ember’s problems is a certain Dark Dweller whose mood has become violent and cruel. As much as she’d like to deny it, there is an undeniable connection between them. Eli is sexy, gorgeous, and frustrating as hell. She also knows he is holding something back, something that could change their relationship forever.

But her problems go way past him. As the tension for war mounts between the Seelie and Unseelie (Light and Dark), the tension at the Dark Dweller’s compound escalates even more as they prepare to obtain the Sword of Light—the only weapon able to kill the Queen.

But is Ember the answer to the location of the sword? Is she the one to fulfill the prophecy? As usual nothing is ever what it seems.
