Heartbreaks and heartfelts giveaway

I’m about to break your hearts…. And then I’ll make it better with a giveaway 🙂 ok, lemme get right to it. If you’re a follower, you’ve been seeing lovely posts about my lil bull calf, Kyland aka Dude. Keep reading, it’s not what you think. On Monday, due to some bad news on top of more bad news, some choices had to be made and some of our cattle had to be sold…. This included Dude’s mom. She would be going to the sale and I didn’t think it even close to fair to separate them AGAIN after he and she are just reuniting. So this meant, I had to say goodbye to my favorite bull calf. *sigh* no matter that I knew this was coming, you can’t have multiple bulls and he’s related to half the herd, he would have been sold later, but he had a higher chance of being eaten later. Yes, he is a breed that is for beef cattle. So Tuesday night, I went to offer him his last bottle. He refused as he has for 2 days, because his mom was finally keeping him full all on her own. I was sad, but still happy as this was as it should be. No I didn’t cry, but it was hard.

So Wednesday morning, on my way to work, I see a truck with a trailer with some cattle in it, traveling next to me. Low and behold, it’s Dude and his mom– and I lost it! I cried like I lost my best friend, and had to stop cuz I couldn’t see to drive. Yes I know I’m nuts. I think the stressful things that had been happening and then seeing him sent me over the edge. I turned into a helpless child for an hour.

Regardless of most people not understanding why I feel so much for animals, I have good news. Not only did I get more money than I expected for him-it’s not about the money, I promise- he and his mom went to a good home where he WILL NOT be eaten. The buyer fell in love with his face! LOL so he bought them both to be part if his farm- like ours 🙂 We do slaughter one calf a year for food, but mostly our cattle are for fun. My grandpa has passed down his love of animals to me, and we enjoy the things that come with having them.

So now, I know some of you kids are as sad as me about this, I wanted to show you the last pics I have of him.

I’m super sad for you. : ( At least, Dude/Ky is going to a good home. Still sad though… Not as sad as I imagined when I first started reading though! Don’t scare us like that. : )

Who’s the cute book mark holder? I’d like to enter for either book mark. They’re both very nice. Thanks for the giveaway!

I knew that someone was gunna think he got sick or died. I was trying no to make it sound like that but sometimes bad news is all bad new no matter how it comes out. And my book mark holder is Jennings lol he’s my big black mane coon hunter 🙂 he thought the book marks should be his and not mine so I decided to let him keep them for a while. lol and good luck!

Jennings is an awesome name for a cat! I totally want to use that one day. : ) I think our next boy cat will be named Rodney, but that won’t be for a while. I always want one more cat than we have, so I’m currently campaigning for 4 cats! Maine Coons are the best. I’ve had two so far. Really great cats. I didn’t realize they were such great book mark holders too. : )

LOL book mark holders come in all shapes and sizes LOL

  3. I had two calves I raised in 4H. I believe they shaped my lives. I now have a newfie and a St. Bernard. People ask why so big, cuz I can’t have cows.

    • magluvsya03 says:

Big is better LOL and yes 4-h definitely had a big part of my life so I’m right there with you. Thanks so much for your heart felt comment 🙂

I really do to. I am one of those crazy animal activists yet I’m not vegetarian. However we never buy meat or vegetables. All are home grown… I know them from birth to death. Veggies too 🙂 however there are lots of things and places I won’t eat due to their “policies” thanks so much for your support

What do you have to say?
