The Dwellers Saga
The Moon Dwellers Synopsis:

In a desperate attempt to escape destruction decades earlier, humankind was forced underground, into the depths of the earth, creating a new society called the Tri-Realms.

After her parents and sister are abducted by the Enforcers, seventeen-year-old Adele, a member of the middle-class moon dwellers, is unjustly sentenced to life in prison for her parents’ crimes of treason.

Against all odds, Adele must escape from the Pen and find her family, while being hunted by a deranged, killing machine named Rivet, who works for the President. She is helped by two other inmates, Tawni and Cole, each of whom have dark secrets that are better left undiscovered. Other than her friends, the only thing she has going for her is a wicked roundhouse kick and two fists that have been well-trained for combat by her father.

At the other end of the social spectrum is Tristan, the son of the President and a sun dweller. His mother is gone. He hates his father. Backed by only his servant and best friend, Roc, he leaves his lavish lifestyle in the Sun Realm, seeking to make something good out of his troubled life.

When a war breaks out within the Tri-Realms, Tristan is thrust into the middle of a conflict that seems to mysteriously follow Adele as she seeks to find her family and uncover her parents true past.

The Star Dwellers Synopsis:

After rescuing her father and younger sister, Adele is forced to leave her family and Tristan behind to find her mother in the cruel and dangerous realm of the star dwellers.

Amidst blossoming feelings for Adele, Tristan must cast his feelings aside and let her find her own way amongst the star dwellers, while he accompanies Adele’s father to meet with the leaders of the moon dwellers and decide the fate of the Tri-Realms.

Will Adele be able to rescue her mother and make it back to the Moon Realm before the President and the sun dweller soldiers destroy her family?

Can Tristan convince the moon dweller puppets of the error of their ways?

Was Adele’s lost kiss with Tristan her one and only chance at love?

In her world there’s only one rule: Someone must die.

PDF on my kindle

Did you read the first books in this series? Yes _X__   No ___

Please check yes or no to the following:

The book sucked. I couldn’t finish it.             yes ___            no _X__

I finished the book, but it still sucked.           yes ___            no _X__

Please elaborate on any of the following:

Was there a particular character or characters that you liked? Why?

Lemme, see, I do thoroughly enjoy Sam and Heven, but my favorite characters would be Riley and Gran. Riley because I love his mystery and I love his brooding, but I love that he has a soft spot too 🙂 Gran, well straightly, because she is gran!

Was there a particular character or characters that you disliked? Why?

hmmm, I can’t say I DISLIKE, because even the bad guys are needed for a good book to be good 🙂

Is there a particular scene or scenes that you liked? Why?

Several, but, I think, when Heven meets Riley. I giggled and was nervous like a school girl about to get her first kiss.

My second would be that “special” moment between Sam and Heven…. I will not give spoilers, I have removed my full answer LOL

The “Death” of “that” character… no spoilers again 🙂 it’s a heart wrenching moment, but WOW, it was so emotional, yet so damn bittersweet that it needs to be mentioned

The Kimber moment

Was there a particular scene or scenes that you disliked? Why?

Well, I am gunna say that is was high time for Heven to tell “that somebody” about her life… again no spoilers

I do not “dislike” perse’ but I will say Heven’s mom’s scenes… in the beginning, I wanted to just UGH!!!! I cheered with “that thing” happened… But at the end, with her mom, I cried again, as it was just another bittersweet moment… I very much look forward to where this will lead 🙂

Was there a character or characters you would like to have seen developed more?

ummmm, no… I kinda like where things are going, as I know the Riley character will get more time and since Heven and Sam are already established, it’s all good… I do look forward to seeing more of that “lady” in “hell” hahahahahaha damn, my answers are horrible when I have to take out spoilers 🙂

Was there a character or characters you felt were over-developed or had no place in the story?

everything about this was perfect, well in my opinion… if you have a different one you will have to get Tirade and read it yourself and review it hahahaha

Were there scenes or parts of the book you felt did not add to the story or seemed otherwise out of place?

no, I’m good

What about the overall pace of the book?

Were there sections that were difficult to read or otherwise hard to get through?

nope, I actually devoured this book

Were there sections that held your interest enough so that it was hard to put the book down?

uhhhhh THE WHOLE BOOK!!!!!!

Here are some specific questions raised by the editors of the first draft:

Did you have any trouble following the dialogue in the scenes where the characters were carrying on verbal and telepathic conversations at the same time?

nope, I love when Sam and Heven talk to each other 🙂

If this book had been published, and you knew what you were getting into, would you have been willing to buy it or recommend it to others?

_X__ yes, I would buy the book           ___ no, I would not purchase the book

How much would you have been willing to pay for an electronic copy?

                                    $1.00 ___                            $10.00 ___

                                    $2.00 ___                    over $10.00 ___

                                    $5.00 ___                    suggest a price _____

How much would you have been willing to pay for a printed copy (paperback)?

                                    $1.00 ___                            $10.00 ___

                                    $2.00 ___                    over $10.00 ___

                                    $5.00 ___                    suggest a price _____

   * for kindle/ebook, $5.00, it’s the third in the series, it’s earned it…. Paperback, if it’s a trade size, I’ll say $10-$15… 🙂

Additional comments or questions: Now go read my review….

Let me first say how crazy good this book was! I read it as a beta reader, but I promise you I will be purchasing that one in print as well, as I NEED to have it. This series has become such a valuable part of my life. I love the characters,  I LOVE the plot, I really love the author, and what can I say, I’m a sucker for bad boys, so I have a new book boyfriend in Riley! I bet anyone who loves an adventure ride, would pick up this series and LOVE it. As the third full novel of the series, things are getting really serious! I mean, how could it not, with everything that has happened. Sam is stuck in hell, Heven will do ANYTHING to get him back, and the Devil’s right hand man wants her and he’ll do ANYTHING to get his hands on her, including use Sam to get her.

So, let’s talk Heven for a sec. She’s really serious, and grown up in this one. After her being forced to leave Sam, she is training harder than ever, doesn’t eat, sleep, talk, or even laugh. She visits her mom in the hospital, and she works toward getting Sam back. Normally Heven was such a happy person, even when things were getting rough. It was hard to see her go through that. But of course it makes her a stronger person and and even more relatable character to love. And Sam, I am utterly heartbroken for him. You get to experience his pain both through his eyes and Heven’s, as they still have a remarkably strong connection. They are truly the couple destined to be together forever. And I LOVE THAT PART!! Nothing will separate them or tear their love apart. YAY!! Score for the good guys.

Oh Riley… What can I say. Riley is the hot bad boy every girl wants to fix, is amazed by his beautify, is scared of his temper, and yet still wants to love him. Even when he doesn’t love himself. I think Cambria has done more than perfect with this character. She made him bad enough that you don’t quite trust him. She made him strong enough that you feel you need him on your side. She made him broken enough that you love him. And then she made him soft enough that you can’t let him go. No matter what he’ll tell you, he has a big heart and he even knows how to use it! How do you NOT love that! I’ll take him!!

The new and old characters are still so much a part of this book. I know everyone loves Sam and Heven, and they are getting to know Riley, but Cole and Gran, and Kimber and Logan, and Gemma and… the new character. Let me just say I have high hopes for her. 🙂 Some of these people are are the “side kicks” play such a vital role. I love them as much as the main characters. But I guess you should say it’s all in the writing. If the writing isn’t up to par, you would like them… Well, the writing if effortless, real, genuine, and down right beautiful. Anyone who picks up these books doesn’t put them down and when they do, they are sad it was over so soon, and then begging to know when they can have more!

There isn’t much more to say other than I don’t think there are too many other books that you could even compare to this series. It’s wonderful! Stunning. Amazing. Magnificent. ummm, phenomenal!!! Hey Cam, have I given you some good adjectives 🙂 LOL Really, I am a true believer in this series… I should hope so, as I’ve helped name the street team for it hahahahahahaha 🙂 To my fellow Hellions… Don’t you agree this one was the best one yet? Hell has never looked so damn good! 🙂 A no-brainer, EPIC 5 PAWS!!! You better tell me when you can gimme more, Cam!

My Playlist:

So, I think I still agree that Florence + the machine get the theme song for the series…

I know that Heven hurts for Sam, but so does everyone else…

Heven’s song for Sam

Another Song for Sam

Sometimes, you think about what could have been…

That awesome fight scene!!

That “DEATH” scene…

My overall feeling for this whole book 🙂

Fade & Falling Blog Tour

Hello everyone! This is a special tour today as I know a lot of you will have heard of this author and I have read several books of her other series as well. Hopefully today, I can show you another series that is pretty darn cool!! 🙂

FADE Blurb:
What if you found out you never existed?”My name is Celestra Caine. I am seventeen years old, which makes me a senior at Richmond High. I never thought this would happen to me, but it has… I’m one of those people you see every day, go to school with, remember seeing at the supermarket or the mall, and then one day you don’t hear about them any longer. They’re gone, and eventually, you forget them.”

My Review:

I should know by now that Ms Gow’s ending kill me!!! Hahaha but that’s the end, lemme go back. Celestra seems like a normal teenage girl who runs track in high school. Except she isn’t, and she doesn’t even know it! One day, she goes home from school to find her family gone… Just disappeared. And in their place, is Jack. He tells her she needs to Fade… Like fade from existence, because she is in danger. And danger follows them around like a squirrel trying to find nuts!

So, Celestra- I really like her. She’s in an uncomfortable situation. People wanna kill her, other people wanna use her, and she has no idea what’s going on. And to top it off, she gets a new identity with a boyfriend to boot- jack! Well I LOVE Jack! He’s hot! But hold that thought for a second. Celestra is just trying to make it. Learn a new life, keep herself safe, and make sure she doesn’t hurt anyone else in the process.

And then along comes Grayson. He’s her “past” boyfriend. She still has feelings for him, how could she not. But when trouble comes, she has feelings for Jack too. Does she follow the future with Jack, or stick to what she knows from the past with Grayson? Hmmm guess we’ll have to find out later 🙂 LoL! I will say I’m on team Jack for right now. Lets just say I don’t know if I trust Grayson anymore. But I want to. I want to think when you have a relationship with someone for a significant amount of time, you know that person. Hmmm… Time will tell!

I love a story that gives me crazy plot twists. Just as you’re figuring out what’s happening- BAM!! Something will shake your feet on the ground! And Ms Gow definitely through a whammy in there for me. Her writing has always been so fun and enjoying to me. It is so easy to be sucked into the story. And it’s so easy to connect with the characters! I absolutely love reading EVERYTHING this woman touches- and she has A LOT!!

My suggestion is to check out Ms Gow. There is something for every person in one of her series- but this one is quickly becoming my favorite! Well, except for maybe her Wick Woods- there’s werewolves in there hahahaha! I love the story, I am really enjoying the characters and I can’t wait to see what’s gunna happen next!! Go get your copy! 5 THRILL RIDING PAWS from me!

Falling Blurb:

What is Celestra Caine? Who is she and did she ever existed? The Faders and the Others clash at the Underground, sending everything into a tailspin. Celestra is pulled into more intrigue, more danger, and more romance, as she discovers who she is and why everyone wants to get her in Book 2 of the FADE series.

My Review:

I should have known that it always gets better the second time around. Taking off from the exact spot of where book one left you hanging, it’s an explosive beginning! With the others trying to kill Celestra and destroy the underground, she has some choices to make. Along with the fact that every time Jack’s in troubld, her powers come out.

So all Jack wants is go keep Celestra safe. The head of the underground has just seen her in action. The others just want to kill her. And a secret slips that leaves her reeling. I’m still just hoping something good comes out of all this for Celestra. I just want to get a little normalcy for fed.

So, it seems Jack and Grayson have finally found a compromise from killing each other; that’s keeping Celestra from being killed. And who does she love more? And who can she live with… Or life without? And we add some characters, though we saw some of them in book 1! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what’s gunna happen! I enjoyed seeing just a little character growth, as you can’t expect much in short periods of time.

There isn’t much I can say to give justice to how fun it is to read Ms Gow’s books! It’s such a thrill ride. It’s like a tug of war rope that pulls you in and won’t let go!! I now absolutely can’t wait to read book 3!! I have a feeling that the thrilling rollercoaster ride of Celestra’s life isn’t even close to being done.

Even more love now, so you should definitely get your hands on this series!! I love it!! 5 PAWS!!

You know since I seem to always obsess over all those HAWT man candies she has around, I figured it was HIGH TIME I finally met with Mercy. 🙂 So, I will be showing you some goodies, and then I will be basically bullying you until you read this series!! 🙂

Everyone dreams of that first kiss. Of that magic moment when your lips finally meet those of that special person you’ve waited your whole life for. A little awkward, a little scary, a little hot and every bit amazing. We speculate that the whole world will shake and time will just stop. No one, however, ever imagines that kiss to bring Death himself knocking.

Sixteen year old Mercy Moore’s life just got more complicated. The kiss that originally could have meant she would finally have a boyfriend now was the kiss that could have very nearly ended his life. A small detail her mother conveniently never told her will take her life for an abrupt u-turn. Dating, no love, was now completely and utterly impossible. And the boy well, that boy would never be the same.

But life, however cruel, goes on. Far too soon for her taste, Mercy finds herself at a senior party with the elite students of her school and her best friend. And of all things, playing a stupid game that could very well mean the death of someone in that small room. If it were not for her best friend, the hottest guys in school, and a small need to fit in, she may have been able to escape the disaster that was to come. Her worst nightmare, her personal curse, her very life, only gets dangerously worse.

This is a young adult paranormal romance novel.

So, I’m gunna try something a little different. Since I already posted my review on here, I will give you links to my lovely stuff. Also, since this is the first book of a series, I’m gunna post covers and links so you can check it out. 🙂 So, lemme show you some more…

My Link to Beg For Mercy Review: HERE it’s a 5 PAWS review, and I’m also not on any TEAM yet, as I was still getting to know the characters. Heh, I changed that Team issue by book 2 hahahaha but I enjoyed meeting each one and I loved reading this beginning book of the series. It was one of my first ever book reviews, other than for myself. I had signed up for a program, and I have since learned a few things about writing better reviews 🙂

This playlist is from the author. It’s also listed on her website. I wanted to feature it because some of these so ARE SO RELEVANT! Plus I really like them.

I’d now like to give you MY little playlist for this book 🙂 my theme song for Flynn is Addicted to Love, the Florence + the Machine version. My song for Paul is Apologies by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals. My song for Sebastian is “Collide” by Howie Day. My song for Luke is “Cosmic Love” by Florence + the Machine. My song for Mercy is “Everything Changes” by Staind, and everything really does change for her. I have two theme songs for this book. The first would be “Come Down” by Bush, because Mercy would stay on Cloud Luke if she could, but things are falling down around her and sometimes you gotta sacrifice to survive. The second would be “Dear Agony” by breaking Benjamin. Because Mercy has some serious cray cray going on around her, and I don’t know if her heart will recover from it all. And ending credits will go to “Pass Slowly” by Seether.

Book 2: Waiting for Mercy

Waiting for Mercy (Cambion, #2)

My review of book 2 can be found HERE. It’s also another DEVASTATINGLY WONDERFUL 5 PAWS!!

What do you do when you’ve been to hell and back, literally? For Mercy, it meant the beginning of the end for everything. Love, Happiness, Life.

When the people important to her are thrown into danger and she is forced to choose who to save, what will Mercy do? When the demon within her has its own agenda, going to new lengths to fulfill it, how will she cope? And when a new nemesis arrives, with a sole focus to take what belongs to her, how will she survive?

Some situations make you stronger, some make you weak. She used to run from confrontation but the need to uncover secrets will harden her resolve to make new choices.

In the end, someone else will suffer the consequences. Who will be burned by her very existence? And what will become of everything she holds dear?

Mercy’s life wasn’t easy before and things aren’t getting easier now.

This is a young adult paranormal romance novel.

I am now officially ALL TEAM FLYNN!! I also have a little playlist for this book… but I will say this. As Ms Shannon was writing this book, she told me about a song she had in her head as she wrote this book, and until you have read the ending of this book, you won’t understand how EPIC this song is! Seriously priceless… And to top it off, I was in the process of reading when she told me about that song. Lemme tell you… Gut wrenching emotional reaction! Anyways.. my theme song for this book would be “Does It Really Matter” by Theory of a Deadman. And “Try” by P!nk. At the beginning of this book, I would say Mercy’s theme song is “Different Kind of Pain” by Cold. Toward the middle, I will go with “Familiar Taste of Poison” by Halestorm but I will keep my “thoughts” to myself about that particular song. LOL At the end, I’m going to say “Fix a Heart” by Demi Lovato, cuz you can bandage the damage, but you never really can fix a heart. 🙂 Paul’s theme songs are “A Drop in the Ocean” by Javier Colon and “What Are You Looking For” by Sick Puppies”. Luke’s songs are “Even if I Wanted To” by Jason Aldean (yes, I once in a while listen to country lol) and Something Like Me” by Staind. My songs for Flynn are “Hold my Heart” by Sara Bareilles and “Wild Horses” by The Sundays, yes I do know the Rolling Stones have a lovely version, but trust me on this- it’s the song from “Fear” on the rollercoaster (wink wink). My songs for Sebastian are “Monster” by Paramore and “3 Libras” by A Perfect Circle. My songs for Mercy about Flynn is “Everybody Hurts” by Avril Lavigne, as she’s realized that not all is as it seems with him. Her song for Luke is “Not Over You” by Gavin Degraw, the acoustic version. Her song for Paul is “Not Meant to Be” by Theory of a Deadman. Her song for Sebastian is “Made of Stone” the Renholder Remix by Evanescence. Pre ending credits go to “The Sun Will Rise” by Kelly Clarkson. And then the full ending credits goes to…

Book 3: Angel of Mercy

Angel of Mercy (Cambion, #3)

I have some serious needs for reading this book, which will be releasing around December 31, 2012 or maybe a little bit later. I wanna say I HAVE NOT read this book, but I’m giving it a pre release song… “Tomorrow Comes Today” by 12 Stones, because I don’t know how, but Mercy will carry on and she will fight on! 🙂

I cannot WAIT to get my hands on this book!!! I’m DYING… but I wanna show you this while we wait…

Character interview:

Hello Mercy, I’m sorry it’s taken so long to meet you, as I’ve met your lovely guys before! Tell me a little something about yourself for those who aren’t familiar with you.

Its always a little nerve racking when it comes to these interviews. Audibly swallowing, I say, “Well, I’m Mercy Moore. I’m sixteen, soon to be seventeen and a junior in high school. I guess I’m a little bit of a book nerd too.”

How are you handling the situation with your mom, knowing she has all those secrets?

She gets right down to it. Okay, I breathe deep. I love my mother, it’s just-. “I have to trust her right. I mean, she knows better than I. And I know if things continue the way they are, I’m going to have to insist she tell me everything.”

How do you feel about knowing what you are?

Laughing to myself, I mean how do you answer that? I’m a friggin’ sex demon for goodness sake. And for a girl that hasn’t ever done it, I’m not sure I’m cut out for the job. “I don’t really like it much, but what can I do about it,” I say.

If you could give up being a supernatural being, would you?

Absofuckinglutely. But instead, I say, “Of course.”

I love your word of the day, so what’s the word for today that is most significant?

How appropriate! “According to Merriam Webster today’s word (11/19/12) is lambaste, which means to verbally attack. There is just too much I could say about that word.”

Inwardly, I think, I’m so going to use this on Flynn today. I laugh to myself and I seriously hope he doesn’t have this app on his phone.

I would like to ask a hard question now… How do you feel toward each of those lovely male eye candies you have in your life? Yes, all four of them LOL, but it doesn’t have to be in depth, just a little something to tide us over!

Wow, she’s knows how to hit a girl with a tough question. Okay, I steel myself.

“By four guys, I assume you’re talking about my boyfriend and our friends?” When she just gives me a look, I go ahead and talk about them.

I picture the boy I think I love. No, I know I love him. “Luke is like the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. He’s kind and patient and understanding. I couldn’t ask for more.”

Pausing, what to say about Paul? Luke might see this and he’s not on good terms with him right now. “Paul is a good friend. Things are different between us. But I’m sure we can get back on track.”

Now, I’m really not sure what to say about this guy. He popped in my life and I know there is a bigger reason why he’s here but he’s kept me safe. So how am I supposed to talk about that? “Sebastian is Sebastian. I don’t know what to say. He’s helped me out of some really tough spots and I consider him a friend.”

Averting my eyes, I so don’t want to talk about Flynn. He’s either the worst or next to the best thing that’s happen to me. And I can’t even say that out loud. He’s my boyfriend’s best friend. And it is so wrong for the way he makes me feel at times. This is so his fault. “Flynn is like a jerk most of the time. He’s a man-whore. And he makes me so mad at times.” I have to stop because I can feel myself fuming. “But he can be a great friend when he wants to be.” I leave it at that.

And do you think any of them has a negative effect on your life?

Ha! Yeah. “There are times when each of them has cause problems in my relationship with Luke. But that doesn’t matter now.”

How do you feel about the secrets you have found out, about each guy? Every one of them seems to have kept a secret from you and you keep finding out in the most crazy ways?

“I don’t really like secrets especially since I’m always the last to find out even if they are about me.” Who am I really kidding? I have my own secrets.

Ok, so if you could have one wish, without any limitations, what would it be?

My almost wish is that things could go back the way they were. But then I wouldn’t have dated Luke and my mom wouldn’t be happy with David. That would be totally selfish of me. “My one wish would be that I was human and didn’t know a thing about the supernatural world and no one would be trying to kill me. But that I’d still have Luke and my mom would still have David.”

Do you miss being the less popular girl, before you knew what you were, and before you realized that your kisses could kill?

“Yes and no,” I say. “Again, yes, but it would mean no Luke and I wouldn’t want that.”

What something about you that we might not know?

What to say? “I’ve never been on a plane before.”

I wanna say I am rooting for you and wish you extra well wishes! This last one is for Ms. Shannon…. Dear Ms Shannon…. I AM STILL DYING!! I REALLLLY need to get my hands on that next book…. You wanna gimme any more insight…. Pretty pretty please??

Just for you teasers, Maghon. In the next book (book three), I guess the biggest teaser is that there is a strong possibility that one character will not be with us by the end of the book. My beta reader is seriously upset at me. At this point, I’m just not sure there is a way around it and be able to stay true to the story.

Please don’t be mad at me (because I didn’t say who) and thanks for having me on.

All the best, Shannon

Impassion (Mystic, #2)

According to the fairy tales Layla read as a child, she’d stepped into one, but her perfect world has a price, and she may end up paying with her life….

Following three years of loneliness, twenty-one-year-old Layla Callaway suddenly has the extended family she always wanted, a beautiful home in Clatsop County, Oregon, her own prince charming, and the ability to perform astonishing magic. All should be well as she gets acquainted with the powers she never knew she had and the coven she never knew she belonged to, but she continues to mourn the circumstances that got her there while struggling to adjust.

Thankfully Layla has her prince charming – Quin Kavanagh – a gorgeous member of her coven who goes out of his way to take care of her. His gentle hands lead her everywhere, including realms of pleasure previously unknown, so when she learns of his playboy past and a hurtful secret he’s been keeping, her shaky world threatens to crumble.

And it couldn’t happen at a worse time.

Danger grows nearer. Obsessed with Layla’s ethereal beauty and immense power, Agro eliminates leads on his way to Oregon. But there’s a stranger lurking much closer to Layla’s new home, and he’s closing in quicker than anyone knows.

Leaving a trail of tragedy in their wakes, both wizards crave what Layla has, and they’ll stop at nothing to get it.

My review:

LAWD!! I’m dying! LOL first lemme tell you guys this, there isn’t ONE bad review of this book and mine is going to follow! So the author so sweetly asked me if I’d like a copy and I had to dive on that opportunity. The first book had me a slobbering sobbing mess. This book gave me a list of emotions! Happy, sad, giggly, anger, I mean, it’s crazy but awesome! The story picks up immediately from the end of the first book and doesn’t miss a beat. And there’s new characters and a new bad guy, plus the old bad guy…. And lemme say, at the beginning, the “almost” sex scene… HOTTEST no sex EVER!!! I really need to get me a Quin! Hahahahaha

I like Layla. She’s literally a mess right now, but if I were her, I wouldn’t have made it this far! After learning so many devastating revalations of secrets, I’m thinking she’s handling herself pretty darn good. I also like that even though she isn’t sure, she’s shy, easily embarrassed and doesn’t always understand, she’s willing to do whatever to try to help others. I smiled the whole time she met her grandparents. I love her interactions with Quin. And I’m glad to see her old friends from the diner. I have a feeling her story is Gunna be epic.

I still love Quin. I’m not sure I agree with all of his choices-LOL- but he’s a man, and who understands how their brains work hahahaha! Hell, I don’t think THEY even understand how their brains work 🙂 I really like that he tries his hardest to make Layla happy and he genuinely seems to love her. I have high hopes in the future for this couple. They are becoming a true favorite to root for!

Lemme also say that the plot has thickened! We all caught on in the first book that Layla was special. She has powers that were never expected and she caught on really quick. Now, it seems that everyone wants to get their dirty little paws on her to steal that something special. I’m blown away by the fact that seeing into the bad guys head can feel so realistic. It’s creepy, but that’s what makes for a wonderful book. Way to tell a story so emotionally charged!

I’m not sure I can really do justice to how wonderful this series is. The writing is phenomenal and for a new author who is self published, I can’t help but say that there are SUPPOSED to be mistakes, yet I find NONE! Hooray for you!! 🙂 and even though I’m normally not the romance reader, I’m sucked in, right from the beginning. I will tell you that you should get your hands on this series, you will not be disappointed! A VERY well deserved 5 PAWS from me!!

Character Interview:

1. What was the first thing that popped into your head when you saw Layla?

Have you ever had something amazing and unexpected happen to you? Like stumbling upon a once in a lifetime opportunity or winning a jackpot? There’s a moment when you can’t believe what’s happening; you’re not sure if the experience that’s invading all your senses is real or if it’s just your wildest fantasy running away with your head and heart. Take that moment and multiply it by a million. The first thing I saw when I looked at Layla was her aura, which is unlike any I’ve seen before. It’s incredible – the amount of emotion and passion it holds, and the translation of those things to color and flow. It was like looking at a sparkling pool of cool water while standing on the precipice of a volcano. I couldn’t believe my eyes and all I could think was “I have to find a way into that aura.” I would have done anything to feel it around me… and to see myself in it. It could have surrounded an angry viper and I still would have been drawn to it.

2. Well, goodness, that’s a breathtaking discription! And then, what was the second thought?

Well, after finding her aura, I found her face, and it was another rush of intense awe, disbelief and need. Any wizard standing in the café that night would have thought they’d died and gone to heaven, because there was an angel sitting there begging to stretch her wings; just waiting for someone to show her how. And can you believe she was embarrassed? The most beautiful woman on earth walked into my life and she had no idea how beautiful she is. That in itself was alluring – to have the opportunity to be the man who proves her value to her. I felt an insanely strong need to go to her and tell her how stunning she is, but I knew it would merely make her blush brighter. The men in her hometown must have lacked the gall to approach her, because she clearly had no idea how to react. I, on the other hand, couldn’t wait to approach her. I felt like if I waited one second too long, she’d disappear, and I’d never get another chance to talk to an angel. I had to make myself walk rather than run or fly to her table.

3. I think you make all of us ladies swoon!! How do you feel about Layla seeming so depressed when you first met her?

It’s heartbreaking. My entire life I’ve speculated about her – what she was doing and how things were going. When you’re missing someone and can’t get updates on them, you try to tell yourself they’re doing okay. It’s the only way to maintain your sanity, so that’s what I hoped for Layla. Finding out she’d been living in hell for three years was tough to swallow. But I saw more than a depressed woman when I looked at her. Even on that first night, I saw a spark just waiting to be kindled, mostly in her aura, but also in her eyes and in the few smiles she gave me. She was in a rut, but she was looking for a way out. I was more than happy to give her a hand. Watching her climb out of that rut has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. She hasn’t cleared the edge yet, but it’s only been a few days. If I get my way in the matter, she’ll soon be the woman she’s destined to be.

4. Aww, you’re just too cute! How do you think Layla felt learning she had a whole different family she never knew about?

I can’t imagine. Even after dissecting her aura and seeing evidence of the burdens she carries, there’s no way for me to truly understand the kind of hurt and bewilderment she endured when learning the truth. And we’re not talking about a normal person here. Layla feels emotions on a higher level than anyone else I’ve met. They penetrate her to the core. As hard as she tries to put up defenses, they do her no good. She’s the most emotionally vulnerable woman I’ve met. To measure her pain is impossible. As much as you’d think finding out you’re adopted would sting, it stung Layla worse. But she was hopeful, and that’s the only thing that countered the immense pain. She tried to deny it. That first night I met her, she nonchalantly mentioned her family and said she didn’t anticipate finding them, and she tried to be tough about it, but there was no hiding the hope from her aura. She was in Cannon Beach looking for the family she claimed she didn’t need. I have no doubt.

5. How was it, having dreams of Layla before you ever met her?

Shh… (looks side to side) She still doesn’t know about that, and I’d like to keep it that way. But to answer your question – those dreams were a constant source of comfort for me. I’ll never regret having them. There are a few witches who can’t say the same, and I felt guilty for hurting those women, but the dreams were as much a part of me as my magic. My dream Layla was an angel, always there for me through good times and bad. And I wouldn’t have had it any other way… unless I could have had the real thing. I would have traded my dream Layla for the real Layla in a heart beat.

6. So, I know you love her, but what would or wouldn’t you do to protect Layla?

I’d do anything and everything to protect her. I know a nobler man would draw a line, but I never claimed to be noble, and to say I’d stop somewhere would be a lie. I would kill, cheat and steal to keep her breathing. There is no religion, moral compass, or conscience that could deter me from protecting her; not even the Heavens could change my mind, and it’s been that way from the night I met her. Compared to hers, my life means very little, so if I must forfeit it to keep her alive, that’s exactly what I’ll do.

7. Well hot damn! You sure know how to make a girl feel loved! How cool is it to have your magical powers?

Magic is a blessing beyond measure. Cool doesn’t begin to describe it. The children in our coven, and most others, are sent to public school for two reasons. One – to find out how the non-magical world ticks. Most of us work among or with the hexless, so we need to know how they think and feel and what they need in life. The second reason we go to public school is to learn to appreciate our gift and the benefits of a coven. I’ve seen the struggles that the hexless endure on a daily basis, struggles that magicians never face because of our magical abilities and the support of our covens, so I appreciate how blessed I am. And it’s not just the magic. Witches and wizards are born with excellent reflexes, memory, concentration, and the list goes on. We’re a very lucky breed, and most of us remember that. I’ve never heard of a magician wishing away their magic. We may wish we weren’t facing magical obstacles, but those are always a result of wicked hearts, not powerful magic. It’s a lot like the hexless slogan “Guns don’t kill people; people kill people”. Well, magic doesn’t create the problems in our world. The difficulties we face are a result of poor choices made by misguided magicians. Magic is a pure gift, and it can be purely beneficial when used responsibly. There isn’t anything negative to say about it, so yes, it’s beyond cool. And before you ask, no, magic doesn’t cost us anything. A lot of hexless have this idea that magic comes at a price, but that’s not true. Magic involves intense concentration, which can be tiresome when performing for long stretches, but there isn’t a magical well that might run dry if we use too much, we don’t have to sell our souls to perform magic, and it’s easy to recuperate from the mental fatigue of performing it. The only price we pay for magic is the price of living in a world with magical problems, which, again, is a product of people, not the gift.

8. Very well said! Is there anything you wanna tell me that I might not already know?

Well, in case you haven’t already figured it out, I’m going to make Layla mine, so you can consider me off the market.

Hahaha!! damn, sorry ladies, guess there’s no hope here 🙂 This or that?

Boxers or briefs? Hahaha, yep got right to that one 😉

Neither 😉

Coffee or tea?

Coffee, which is convenient since I now have a coffee addict to impress.

Chocolate or vanilla?

Chocolate. But really, I could take or leave either, so I’ll probably give my dessert to Layla from now on.

Movies at the theater or at home on dvd?

Magicians don’t watch much TV. There isn’t a television in our community. We find it more entertaining to play with magic or fly to the ocean or a mountaintop. When I do watch some form of entertainment, I prefer live shows, but if Layla wants to go see a movie, I’ll change my ways.

Black or white? Or rainbow?

Rainbow. There’s no way to live among loving magicians surrounded by beautiful auras and not be partial to rainbows. And that’s only gotten truer since seeing Layla’s aura. It’s the most stunning collection of colors you’ll find on earth.

Sunrise or sunset?

Both are great aesthetically, but I prefer the unhurried and impassioned aspects of night, so the sunset marks the beginning of a more enjoyable time for me.

Night or day?

Beer or liquor?

Liquor. Scotch on special occasions or once in a while, but if I’m just sitting around or eating dinner, I’ll drink wine. My great aunt and uncle own a winery, where they sell products made from the fruit in our garden, which my great grandpa Cat tends to. We’re self-sustaining, but we shop at hexless vendors to help contribute to society. And yes, we pay taxes on our businesses and land.

LOL… Taxes! Chicken or steak? Or maybe seafood?

Steak, which is something we purchase. There is no butchering in our community. The witches would never go for it.

Hugs or kisses?

Until Layla came along, I never knew how life-altering those two things could be. I’ve always enjoyed them. Holding a witch is the most amazing feeling in the world, but holding Layla makes me feel like I’m a god who’s been blessed with my own world. And kissing her awakens everything in me on every level – emotionally, physically and intellectually. So how can I choose? With her, they’re both mind-blowing.

Book Description:

Hurricane Katrina is long gone, but the preternatural storm rages on in New Orleans. New species from the Beyond moved into Louisiana after the hurricane destroyed the borders between worlds, and it falls to wizard sentinel Drusilla Jaco and her partner, Alex Warin, to keep the preternaturals peaceful and the humans unaware. But a war is brewing between two clans of Cajun merpeople in Plaquemines Parish, and down in the swamp, DJ learns, there’s more stirring than angry mermen and the threat of a were-gator.

Wizards are dying, and something—or someone—from the Beyond is poisoning the waters of the mighty Mississippi, threatening the humans who live and work along the river. DJ and Alex must figure out what unearthly source is contaminating the water and who—or what—is killing the wizards. Is it a malcontented merman, the naughty nymph, or some other critter altogether? After all, DJ’s undead suitor, the pirate Jean Lafitte, knows his way around a body or two.

It’s anything but smooth sailing on the bayou as the Sentinels of New Orleans series continues.

Short Excerpt:

The minute hand of the ornate grandfather clock crept like a gator stuck in swamp mud. I’d been watching it for half an hour, nursing a fizzy cocktail from my perch inside the Hotel Monteleone. The plaque on the enormous clock claimed it had been hand- carved of mahogany in 1909, about 130 years after the birth of the undead pirate waiting for me upstairs.

They were both quite handsome, but the clock was a lot safer.

The infamous Jean Lafitte had expected me at seven. He’d summoned me to his French Quarter hotel suite by courier like I was one of his early nineteenth-century wenches, and I hated to destroy his pirate-king delusions, but the historical undead don’t summon wizards. We summon them.

I’d have blown him off if my boss on the Congress of Elders hadn’t ordered me to comply and my co-sentinel, Alex, hadn’t claimed a prior engagement.

At seven thirty, I abandoned my drink, took a deep breath, and marched through the lobby toward the bank of elevators.

On the long dead-man-walking stroll down the carpeted hallway, I imagined all the horrible requests Jean might make. He’d saved my life a few years ago, after Hurricane Katrina sent the city into freefall, and I hadn’t seen him since. I’d been desperate at the time. I might have promised him unfettered access to modern New Orleans in exchange for his assistance. I might have promised him a place to live. I might have promised him things I don’t even remember. In other words, I might be totally screwed.

I reached the door of the Eudora Welty Suite and knocked, reflecting that Jean Lafitte probably had no idea who Eudora Welty was, and wouldn’t like her if he did. Ms. Welty had been a modern sort of woman who wouldn’t hop to attention when summoned by a scoundrel.

He didn’t answer immediately. I’d made him wait, after all, and Jean lived in a tit- for- tat world. I paused a few breaths and knocked harder. Finally, he flung open the door, waving me inside to a suite plush with tapestries of peach and royal blue, thick carpet that swallowed the narrow heels of my pumps, and a plasma TV he couldn’t possibly know how to operate. What a waste.

“You have many assets, Drusilla, but apparently a respect for time is not among them.” Deep, disapproving voice, French accent, broad shoulders encased in a red linen shirt, long dark hair pulled back into a tail, eyes such a cobalt blue they bordered on navy. And technically speaking, dead.

He was as sexy as ever.

“Sorry.” I slipped my hand in my skirt pocket, fingering the small pouch of magic-infused herbs I carried at all times. My mojo bag wouldn’t help with my own perverse attraction to the man, but it would keep my empathic abilities in check. If he still had a perverse attraction to me, I didn’t want to feel it.

He eased his six-foot-two frame into a sturdy blue chair and slung one long leg over the arm as he gave me a thorough eyeraking, a ghost of a smile on his face.

I perched on the edge of the adjacent sofa, easing back against a pair of plump throw pillows, and looked at him expectantly. I hoped what ever he wanted wouldn’t jeopardize my life, my job, or my meager bank account.

“You are as lovely as ever, Jolie,” Jean said, trotting out his pet name for me that sounded deceptively intimate and brought back a lot of memories, most of them bad. “I will forgive your tardiness— perhaps you were late because you were selecting clothing that I would like.” His gaze lingered on my legs. “You chose beautifully.”

I’d picked a conservative black skirt and simple white blouse with the aim of looking professional for a business meeting, part of my ongoing attempt to prove to the Elders I was a mature wizard worthy of a pay raise. But this was Jean Lafitte, so I should have worn coveralls. I’d forgotten what a letch he could be.

“I have a date after our meeting,” I lied. He didn’t need to know said date involved a round carton with the words Blue Bell Ice Cream printed on front. “Why did you want to see me?”

There, that hadn’t been so difficult—just a simple request. No drama. No threats. No double- entendre. Straight to business.

“Does a man need a reason to see a beautiful woman? Especially one who is indebted to him, and who has made him many promises?” A slow smile spread across his face, drawing my eyes to his full lips and the ragged scar that trailed his jawline.

I might be the empath in the room, but he knew very well that, in some undead kind of way, I thought he was hot.

I felt my face warming to the shade of a trailer- trash bridesmaid’s dress, one whose color had a name like raging rouge. I’d had a similar reaction when I first met Jean in 2005, two days before a mean hurricane with a sissy name turned her malevolent eye toward the Gulf Coast. I blamed my whole predicament on Katrina, the bitch.

Her winds had driven the waters of Lake Pontchartrain into the canals that crisscrossed the city, collapsing levees and filling the low, concave metro area like a gigantic soup bowl.

But NBC Nightly News and Anderson Cooper had missed the biggest story of all: how, after the storm, a mob of old gods, historical undead, and other preternatural victims of the scientific age flooded New Orleans. As a wizard, I’d had a ringside seat. Now, three years later, the wizards had finally reached accords with the major preternatural ruling bodies, and the borders were down, as of two days ago. Jean hadn’t wasted any time.

Royal Street (Sentinels of New Orleans, #1)

And my review of royal street is HERE

My Review:

I LOVE THIS SERIES!! I don’t even know if its necessary to say any other words other than that!! Welcome back to all the wonderful characters that have me up way to late, continue to give me so much connection, and an author who is truly a native- AND you can tell! It’s her wonderfully flawless writing that keeps me on edge the whole time and makes me want to scream at others, but I’m addicted! I just finished this book and I’m ready for my next hit 🙂

DJ is still in full force and I love her even more. She’s learned so much in the last few years since everything has happened and the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina may have ebbed off but are still a force to recon with. I love her attitude. She had a soft hearted side but a tough side just as big. And her awesome sarcastic self banter is HILARIOUS! When she begins reasoning with herself with what’s going on, and just how much the $(!& has hit the fan, she says some of the funniest things. Her attraction to Jean, Alex, and Jake are all completely understandable and some days I’d love to be her just to stand around and drool. LOL

DJ’s has also had some great character growth. She’s been through quite an ordeal in the past, and even though she had a shock in learning what she did, she’s still learning that there’s even more secrets- Louisiana has mer people! WOAH!! I have a whole new outlook to the river passing along my house feeding in to the Gulf hahahaha She’s learning that she can stand on her own, but it’s also ok to ask for help when you need it. She’s really become one of those characters I’ve grown so fond of!

Lets talk HAWT guys for a second, or ten! First there’s Alex. I do like him. He’s extremely attractive, he’s smart, he’s manly, he’s got a hot body, and every once in a while you get to see that even though he wears all black, he’s got several shades to him 🙂 and then there’s Jean Lafitte… Hello HOT French pirate!! Yeah he’s sexy, in the dead, really bad boy way LOL he’s always got an angle to work but he’ll let you know that he’s the most important thing in his life. He’s full of innuendos and exudes sex appeal like Cajun food has spices! And last, BUT certainly not least, there’s Jake…. I’m on book boyfriend heaven! I’m thrilled to say, it seems as Jake is going to be sticking around! He’s my beautiful soul man, and I love the way he throws around pet names and is just cuter than ever. His struggles with what happened in the last book had me salivating to get my hands on this book since I was done with Royal Street!

The surprises surrounding the mer people plot was AWESOME!! Nothing like some twists to keep you awake and needing to know what happens next! Ms Johnson’s writing has become one of my most favorite to read. It’s just spectacular! There’s nothing like a good feeling while enjoying everything she writes. If you haven’t picked up a book by Ms Johnson yet, you’ve gone crazy! This means GO RIGHT NOW!! Get a copy, and then send me a thanks for telling you about something wonderful LOL!! There’s no option but to say 5 MAJORLY FANTASTIC PAWS!! Ms Johnson, I will try my hardest to wait patiently until you give me more! 🙂

Character Interview:

So, I am totally hot for Jake, who is a pretty significant character in this series! 🙂 And I would like you all to welcome him and try to keep the drool down to a minimum hahahaha no worries, I can’t either!

From Ms. Suzanne: Thanks, Maghon! This was fun—Jake says nobody ever wants to talk to him, so he enjoyed it!

What was the first thing that popped into your head when you saw DJ?

Well, the first time I saw her, she was wearing rubber boots and up to her knees in mud. She was kicking the hell out of a fire hydrant, trying to get the mud off, and I thought, that is one sexy woman. She’s not nearly as tough as she pretends to be. *Chuckles* And she’d hit me if she heard me say that, so don’t tell her.

I promise not to tell her 😉 And then, what was the second thought?

I remembered why we were there—out in the middle of the devastation of the Lakeview neighborhood, which the Katrina levee failures had torn to shreds. Her mentor, Gerry, was missing and I’d brought my dad’s boat so Alex could take her to Gerry’s house and see if his body was there. I felt sorry for her. Hell, I felt sorry for all of us. That was a miserable, heartbreaking time.

How do you feel about DJ & Alex’s friendship or partnership?

Ah….I think they’re friends, and I think they’re partners. And I think there’s probably more between them than either one of ’em will admit. But while Alex is dragging his feet, I want to see what DJ and I have. Maybe it’s nothing, maybe more. I spent a lot of time since the hurricane being mad at her, and it might be too late for us. But we’ll have to see. I ain’t given up on us yet.

I understand why you won’t give up yet, but I’ll hold out hope for me 🙂 At the end of Royal Street, something happens to you. How is that going over for you?

*Long pause.* I gotta be honest, right? I hate it. Freaking hate it. Everything I thought I knew about the world wasn’t true. I’m trying to come to terms with it, but it ain’t easy, sunshine.

Life never is, right? How are you feeling about DJ now after that event?

I’ve forgiven her, mostly. I know it wasn’t anything she meant to happen. I know she’d do just about anything to undo it. But we’re gonna have to go slow and see where things take us. I’m not the man I was when we first met, and obviously I didn’t know who—or what—she was at all. We’ll just have to see.

If you do still care for her, are you willing to fight to keep her?

*Laughs* Aw, darlin’, if it’s meant to happen, I won’t have to fight to keep her, you know? Alex is too big a jerk to fight for a woman he don’t think he can win. But we’ve got a long way to go, me and DJ, before we get to that point.

A little fight is still fun though LOL Did you figure out anything as different with Alex or DJ before that event?

Well, you know, Alex and I grew up in each other’s shadows. I can look back now to when we were in high school and later, when he would heal too fast, or something seemed off. But at the time, no. I had no clue he was a shifter, because I didn’t know such things existed. Wouldn’t have believed it. Now, DJ….I didn’t suspect anything like that—who the hell knew wizards existed? I just thought there was something going on with them in terms of work that they were keeping a secret. I never bought that stupid story that they were dating.

HA! I don’t think anyone bought that story. Is there anything you wanna tell me that I might not already know?

I’m always up for a night out on the town, darlin’. I’m not sure where things with DJ are going, but I know they’re not going anywhere fast. I’d like spending time with a nice, normal Louisiana girl. You are normal, right? I mean, you have dogs. They are real dogs, right? Not that I’m paranoid or anything, sunshine…just need to check.

First, I am normal, and yes my dogs are of the normal variety… No need to be paranoid, but you should know that if you tease me too much, I WILL stalk you hahahahahahaha 🙂 (That man is gunna be the death of me LOL)

This or that?

1. Boxers or briefs? Hahaha, yep got right to that one 😉

I’m a boxer man. Don’t want to cramp the merchandise, you know?

2. Coffee or tea?

Bourbon? Oh, okay. Coffee. But not that flavored crap DJ drinks.

3. Chocolate or vanilla?

Chocolate—the sweeter and darker, the better.

4. Movies at the theater or at home on dvd?

Definitely a home kind of guy. Sofa. Soft lights. Some wine. And a good action flick.

5. Black or white?

White—just so people don’t confuse me with Alex. The man wouldn’t know a color if it bit him on the assets.

6. Sunrise or sunset?

Sunrise. It’s the start of a new day; sometimes the nights are too long and dark.

7. Night or day?

Day…the better to see what’s coming at me.

8. Beer or liquor?

I like a good bottle of Abita, but I’m a Four Roses bourbon man.

9. Chicken or steak? Or maybe seafood?

I would have said fried chicken before…well, you know. Now, give me a good , rare steak.

10.Hugs or kisses?

I have to choose?

Thanks, sunshine!

*swoon* Isn’t he just PRECIOUS!! I lurve him! 🙂 I am very firmly on team Jake! I mean I like Alex and all, but I think Jake has my heart!…. If it’s even possible, more than Mirren and Will…. *sigh* I think I am destined to lose all my book boyfriends to awesome heroine hot chicks, eh!

Kiara and Devlin are drawn to each other by fate and destined to embrace the very thing that threatens to rip their worlds apart. Now, Kiara will have to decide which is stronger, blood or moonlight?

My Review:

HELLOOOOO HAWT PIECE!!!! Boy I sure do love me some werewolves! Especially hot ones! Hehehehe this book fascinated me. I am now very invested in this series because not only does it hold my attention, but it’s full of very fun characters and an extremely mysterious plot line and just downright good writing! I don’t know how else to say how much I enjoyed this book!

So, we’ve got a mixed blood situation here. kiara is part Fae and part werewolf. She was raised by her Fae mother who is also a royal. However the Fae aren’t so happy about this mixed blood thing so lets just say she had a crappy life. Kiara also thinks her fathers been dead her whole life. Well she gets a big surprise to know her father is suddenly missing, but was alive, and currently holds the position of alpha in the pack. I won’t lie, this plot line had me sucked in, because I was dying to know what was gunna happen! And Kiara had a whole lot to learn about herself, her mixed blood, and a culture she’s part of but doesn’t understand.

And then there’s Devlin…. Boy oh boy… DROOL!!!! He’s the typical HAWT male werewolf, who oozes alpha, exudes confidence and powers, and is pretty much a walking drool-endusing eye candy! Hello!!! I need one of those right now! Plus he’s got a sweet side when he’s trying to. He wants Kiara but promised to protect her and those things never go well together hahahaha I lurve him!! Devlin- welcome to my book boyfriend club!! You’re welcome anytime!!

I also really enjoy the secondary characters!! Reese and Marcus, who are a couple, are Kiara’s Fae guards and also her best friends. After her mishap in Fae land, they follow her and devote their life protecting her. Marcus and Cian are Kiara’s unexpected and not necessarily welcomed werewolf guards. I especially like Marcus 🙂 I’m thinking I almost like everybody hahahaha

I don’t wanna give too much away. I am extremely fond of this story, I can’t wait to get my grubby paws in book two, and I thought this was a fantastic story telling! Well done Ms Keith! I hope you let me know as soon as you have book 2 ready for me hahahaha yes I’m special and it’s just for me 🙂 LOL now go forth and get yourself this book- it’ll be worth it! 5 REALLY GOOD PAWS from me!

Author Interview:

First, tell me a little about your book ….

I would love to tell you about my book. Blood and Moonlight is the first in an urban fantasy trilogy. Throughout the series you will follow Kiara Morrigan O’Conaill as she discovers more about who she is and where her place is in this world. The first book starts the beginning of that journey. Here is the blurb:

Though she shares the bloodlines of both Fae and Wolf, Kiara Morrigan O’Conaill refuses to claim her place in the Fae courts or submit to the animal within. Witnessing the murder of her Fae mother two years ago drives her back into those worlds, to search for answers and revenge.

Devlin McClure lives for one thing—the Pack. When their leader, the Cadeyrn, disappears, desperation sends Devlin to the last person he should be asking for help—the Cadeyrn’s estranged daughter, Kiara.

Kiara and Devlin are drawn to each other by fate and destined to embrace the very thing that threatens to rip their worlds apart. Now, Kiara will have to decide which is stronger, blood or moonlight?

Way to sell that! I’m gunna say moonlight hahahahhaha 🙂 Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?

I wouldn’t say that I always knew I wanted to be a writer. I’ve always had a bit of a creative bug about me. When I was in junior high, I wrote a lot. Stored all my work on the old floppy discs (and yes I know I’m dating myself here). Then I moved away from it a little to pursue drawing. As I got older, I found myself dreaming of stories I wanted to write and figured that I had come full circle so it was time to do something about it.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?

A bar with a neon sign that read Cowboy inspired my first story, Buckling Down, which is a contemporary western romance. I was driving down the freeway at five in the morning, and this sign was just glowing in my field of vision for several minutes. That was all it took for my mind to go running on an idea for a story that was initially going to be nothing more than a birthday present for my mother.

Sounds like a good birthday present! Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

None of the experiences in Blood and Moonlight are based on people I know or personal events. However, I do have stories that are in the works that are loosely based off of my own experiences. I think the things we’ve experienced help bring a sense of realism to the story. There are times when I’ve written things and people say that’s not realistic, and I can say yes it is, I’ve experienced that. I think that is important depending on the characters.

Good answer! How do you choose when/which characters die in your books?

Killing off a character is sometimes easy and at other times very hard. Obviously there are those characters that you can’t wait to bite it. I think the toughest decision is if and when to kill off one of your more prominent characters. It really has to come down to what it does for the story. The death has to have an impact on your characters, it has to help move the story along. If it hinders the storyline then one might need to rethink the reasoning behind the death.

That’s an excellent point! I wouldn’t want a death to ruin the whole story line. Who do you look up to as a writer?

This has actually changed over time, or the list has just grown because I still admire the authors that fueled my desire to write, but one particular author I admire and aspire to be like is Vicki Petterson. There is the common bond of being from Las Vegas, but more than that, it is the way she interacts with fellow writers and her readers that have her topping my list at the moment.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?

That’s a tough one and really it is a nice lead in for the next question. I think that some of the backstory would need to go.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Finding the right mix of backstory without over doing it (see above answer). There are times when I’m so wrapped up and invested in what happened leading up to a particular point in a characters life, that it becomes hard to see what is necessary and what is just overkill. That is where good critique partners come in handy.

in this book, I enjoyed reading the backstory as its revealed in layers. I appreciate that, as i think it makes the characters seem more complex 🙂 What book are you reading now? Or what genre?

Currently, I’m in between books. There are several awaiting their turn to be read, and the ones that I am looking forward to at the moment are Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter , The Edinburgh Dead by Brian Buckley, and This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers.

All of those are on my list too! Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?

Elaina Lee from For the Muse Designs worked on my cover. She really wanted to make sure that she designed a cover that I was happy with. To be honest, she designed this cover for me twice. The first cover I really liked, but when I had her design the second one, she totally nailed the feel of the series so I asked her to redesign the first one. She did and I have a lovely cover that ties nicely to the second one, and soon the third one will as well.

Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?

I think that each book presents an opportunity to learn something. With Blood and Moonlight, what I learned came courtesy of one of a friend who provided me with a male take on a few scenes. Guys expect a lot more from their action sequences in books than most girls. I wanted a lot of action and I wanted it to be realistic. The car chase scene was one I struggled with and the fight scene. The need to find a happy compromise between what was realistic and what was fun and action packed really made them a great opportunity for learning.

YAY to the male point of view hahaha I love action in books! I think you did a great job! If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?

It would depend on the moment. There are days when I feel like I could tap into Kiara and be the tortured and vulnerable, yet wear the tough exterior chick. But most times I would have to admit to being more like Reese with all the smart assed comments.

I thoroughly enjoy Reese! 🙂 Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Just a huge thank you, and not just to my readers, but to readers in general. Regardless of what genre you read, whether you like my work or that of a fellow author, you are the reason we are able to continue doing what we love.
