Make Believe Blog Tour w Giveaway

Well hello everyone!! I believe I’m starting out 2013 pretty awesome!! Today I have something extra special. When I originally signed up for this tour, I asked for something special. I asked if I could do a playlist for the stories πŸ™‚ pretty cool of those wonderful authors to say “yes” to me! πŸ™‚ LOL now I just have to make sure that my song choices don’t make said authors run away pulling their hair out!! So let me get to the goodies!! I’m also going to set my post up slightly different. Since each story is different and by a different author, I’m going to post my goodies below each description as we go along πŸ™‚ hopefully this will make it a little easier to follow along. * also, sorry about my lack of color, and my non-embedded videos. When I originally set up my post, everything was all nice and pretty… BUT, when I went to add some details, we had a storm and lost electricity and I somehow lost my post… BOOO to bad weather lol, so the trusty wordpress iPhone app is at work today. Thank goodness, as I would freak out if I didn’t have a post for this amazing tour stop!! And my hours of embedding videos went down the drain, or wherever it is the rain went LOL*

Sacrificial Oath by Terri Rochenski
An impetuous act unwittingly makes Alesuela the fulfillment of the Sovereign’s Blood Oath to their Goddess. In five days, she’ll be forced to make the greatest choice of her life: become the virginal sacrifice already promised, or force the man she loves most to die in her place. With an impossible choice in front of her, she searches for ways to undo the oath, and in her quest, finds not everything in her life is as she expects.

My Review:Good Lord, I know this is a short story, but it took my breath away. So let me break it down just a little, without giving away spoilers. Your father has been gone, to war, and all you wish for is his safe return. And when he returns, her “accidental misbehavior” lands her in a whole heap of trouble. I think my stomach literally fell out when I read the sentence that sealed her fate. And then she also has a betrothed. And he surprises me with his words to her. And then ending- TOTALLY COOL!! I was ready to break down and sob LOL instead I cheered out loud!! Way to go! πŸ™‚

My Playlist:
Bruno Mars- Never Say You Can’t

He Is We- Happily Ever After *I have to note that I love this song and it was the first thing that popped into my head when I started reading. If you listen to the song, you’ll know why I picked it πŸ™‚

Sara Bariellas- I’ll Breath Again

The Amulet of Ormisez by J. Keller Ford
There is only one way to save Elton Fletcher’s brother from an insanity-ridden death. After years away from home, fighting for his people, Elton returns to discover his only sibling, Cayden, possessed by greed and malice, and responsible for malicious, unthinkable deeds. Cayden, though, isn’t the only one afflicted by the Amulet of Ormisez, and Elton finds himself in yet another battle, where the price of failure could be his own life.

My Review: well hot diggity!! I definitely love this one. So many cool things about this story. There’s a paranormal mythological creature or two, some HAWT dudes, a beautiful and sweet servant, a major cool butler, and bad king, and a magical amulet. I guess I need to find out if this author has any series in this realm as this story has sold me! I enjoyed the ending as it isn’t completely a HEA, but it’s a “Happy After All”… I just made that my new thing HA! But I meant this to mean that not everyone gets a fairy tale ending, but it’s happy enough for them πŸ™‚ when faced with the Enid’s hard choice, I think these were excellent decisions!

My Playlist:
Florence + the Machine- Cosmic Love

Paramore- Monster

Daughtry- Rescue Me

Birthright by Lynda R. Young
Christa can mask the pain and hide the scars, but running from a birthright is impossible. She’s tried to escape her grief by fleeing to a small town in Florida. Much to her frustration, the locals think they recognize her even though she’s never been there before. To make things worse, a man named Jack spouts outrageous theories about her. Both spur Christa to bolt, to start fresh yet again, but there’s something about Jack that intrigues her enough to stay. The only problem? Someone else wants her to leave, and they won’t stop until she’s dead.

My Review:This one plays out more like a mysterious paranormal. There’s definitely something going on in this small little town Christa has moved to. Now she must get passed her tragic past and live for the future. This one is a slightly darker story but isn’t any less good. I feel for her and I understand her confusion. And the Jack comes into play with all this information. Who is she supposed to believe. And when something unthinkable happens her life is forever changed. This was really fun!

My Playlist:
Kid Rock- When It Rains

Rocket Summer- Walls

Petrified by Kelly Said
A mysterious storm has replaced summer with winter, devastating crops and smothering Castle lands in snow. Prince Sterling August stands alone as a leader, lost in personal grief as well as a desire to help his people but with an inability to do either. The answers he needs await him, but without Lochlyn, a woman who’s just as isolated as Sterling, he’ll never see what stands before him, cloaked in illusion.

My Review: oh sweetness. I really enjoyed where this story took me. It was excellent. When you’re trying to make decisions that affect not just you personally but all the people in your kingdom, things get complicated. I think this story I really enjoyed the characters. All of them, the main and supporting characters. Such a wonderful way to play out a story. And even with the “not so happily ever after”, I think this may be the closest to the fairy tale πŸ™‚

My Playlist:
Breaking Benjamin-Who wants to live forever

Pink- Who Knew

Last Winter Red by Jennifer M. Eaton
Emily is a Red, a woman whose sole purpose in life is to produce offspring. When her husband dies and leaves her childless, she risks her life and forsakes the safety of Terra-a disease-free city born after the nuclear holocaust. Beyond its boundaries, she knows, survives a man with whom she can be properly paired. The Outside, though, holds secrets the government struggles to keep, and what Emily discovers on her quest for a mate will change her life forever.

My Review: oh so this reminds me of a zombie apocalypse without the zombies hahahaha this is an excellent story, especially if you like conspiracy theories! What the government knows but doesn’t tell you can kill you- literally!! It was definitely a unique story and I completely loved how everything played out. In a short amount of time, you have heartbreak, heart ache, healing, self discovery, secrets uncovered and an almost happily ever after! Definitely a fun one!

My Playlist:
Rhianna- We Found Love

Kelly Clarkson- the sun will rise

Escort to Insanity by J.A. Belfield
From a charity auction, to a stroll in the park, to the craziest night of her life. Nicole Harrington can’t help but wonder how a simple event went so drastically wrong. Of course, the male escort she booked is wholly to blame. Not only charming but shrewdly intelligent, Benjamin Gold drags Nicole into a platoon of unimaginable problems-ones from which she’ll have to find the courage just to survive.

My Review: who knew that my wonderful author of werewolves could give me….
Kitties hahahahaha I LOVED it! Way to make a short story the most awesome thrill ride with HAWT guys, girls learning who they are and want to be, and making it funny too! I definitely think maybe you should gimme some more Ben, as he may have to compete for my new book boyfriend! I really enjoyed the unpredictable plot twists! πŸ™‚

My Playlist:
Florence + the Machine- Shake It Out

Adele- set fire to the rain

Niclelback- Burn It to the Ground

We’re the ones who should be thanking YOU, for all this effort you’ve put into this amazing post. Love seeing how your thoughts on the stories have translated into music choices. Though I’m very intrigued as to whom you think Adele’s track applies to more–Cole or Ben? πŸ˜‰

    • magluvsya03 says:

Hahahaha at first it was Cole, and her ridiculous ex and her over bearing father, but then it may have switched over a little to Ben as well πŸ™‚ I just kept hearing that song when I was reading so I had to pick it!

  8. I’m so impressed with this idea that I’m sharing your blog with a couple of the authors I’ve worked with as their editor. AND you’ve really piqued my interest in this anthology–it just moved WAY up in my TBR list!

    • kford2007 says:

I LOVE hearing comments like this! I hope you enjoy Make Believe when you finally get a chance to read it. It’s a wonderful book and I’m proud to be a part of it. (your website is awesome. Thanks for sharing this blog post with your authors).

Omg!!! You completely just made my day!! Thank you so much and you let me know if I can ever help spread the word for your authors! πŸ™‚ I’m all about promoting books πŸ™‚

  9. Oh wow, this is awesome!! I love the song matches you’ve made. I especially like ‘Walls’. I see this as Jack’s song and everything he wants to tell Christa. I’m so glad you loved the stories.

    • kford2007 says:

Walls is awesome! I’d never heard it until today. I added it to my Spotify playlist. I’ll always remember it as Jack’s song. πŸ™‚

      • magluvsya03 says:

*GASP* ummm it was the theme song for Friday Night Lights last season πŸ™‚ I’m quite obsessed with that show and the original movie for that matter. I somehow seem to find music in the oddest places πŸ™‚ maybe that’s why I like those songs so much. And YAY for you liking it πŸ™‚

  10. Jean S. says:

Yay, Maghon! Everyone loves your playlist idea! Of course, that could be a double-edge sword. I’m sure it takes a lot of work to put together. How long would it take for you to do it with every book you review? Yikes!

    • magluvsya03 says:

Oh boy… That might be hard hahahaha and what if I don’t like the book, would I pick a buncha crappy songs…. Maybe you’re right hahahaha but I’m over the moon that no one said “I kinda hate that choice” lol!!

  11. Wendy Reid says:

Great post and some really good song choices! πŸ™‚
