Lisa Ann Brown

Lisa Ann has been involved with storytelling and entertainment, in one form or another, her entire life. Beginning her creative journey as both a writer and an actor, Lisa Ann spent many years immersing herself in innumerable books, countless theatre productions and earning a degree in Musical Theatre. Shortly after college, she attended the Vancouver Film School to learn the finer points of screenwriting. This study culminated in the writing of a few feature length scripts and an overwhelmingly potent desire to move from Canada to Hollywood. Once ensconced in East Hollywood however, creative inspiration lured Lisa Ann away from screenwriting and returned her to her original writing intentions: to be a novelist. In three months, Lisa Ann had completed her first novel, I Raid, and there has been no cessation of her novel writing ever since. Moving back to Canada, she spent many years working as a talent agent in Vancouver before retiring from the film industry to focus on writing full-time. Lisa Ann derives great personal satisfaction by delivering her characters through the twisting arcs and unexpected tribulations of their imaginary lives. She strives to keep her readers on edge while enjoying the suspense and surprise of their literary journey. She resides in picturesque Vancouver, BC, Canada where she is happily nestled in between the Pacific Ocean and the Coastal Mountain range.

Mephisto Mark Blog Tour w Giveaway

MM Tour Banner

Hello everyone! I have a wonderful new book to show you! Yesterday was the release day so, HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY to the Mephisto Mark!!! I have heard so many wonderful things about this series, so I will now be checking out the whole series!

The Mephisto Mark (The Mephisto Covenant, #3)

 The Mephisto Mark Synopsis:

Orphaned at six and sent to live with abusive relatives in Bucharest, Mariah learned early in life to box up violent, agonizing memories and put them in permanent mental storage. Now almost nineteen, she has a paying job, a tiny apartment, and a plan to attend university. She loves her independence and is steadily overcoming her past, but when an enigmatic stranger walks into the pub where she works and the trajectory of her life changes yet again, she begins to wonder if she’ll run out of mental shelf space.

The only females unafraid of the Mephisto brothers are the extremely rare Anabo, born without Original Sin. Over one hundred years ago, Phoenix was first to find one, but he made a fatal mistake and she was murdered by his oldest brother and enemy, Eryx. Phoenix soldiered through the next century wrapped up in grief and guilt, his only outlet planning takedowns of those who pledged their souls to Eryx. When one of his brothers brings Mariah to Mephisto Mountain, he’s torn between his instinctive, powerful need to pursue her, and his certainty that he can never have her.

Drawn into the world of the Mephisto, Mariah sees the pain and misery Eryx unleashes on humanity, and the boxes in her mind begin to fly open, one by one. All that keeps her from slipping off the edge is her unlikely, sexually charged friendship with Phoenix. He’s incredibly screwed up; she’s completely broken. It would take a miracle for them to find happiness. Then Eryx brings the war for Hell to a whole new level, forcing Mariah and Phoenix to make a choice that will bind them together for all eternity, or rip them apart forever.

Excerpt :

Watching Mariah shout her triumphant joy as she came closer to me at breakneck speed, my want, my need to join her was a physical thing that coiled around me and squeezed so hard, I was breathless.

Her stop was flawless. She was breathing hard, laughing up at me as she moved her goggles to her cap. Her eyes were bluer, I could see her glow, and her scent was beautiful. My brothers and Sasha skied up just behind her and looked at me with obvious anxiety. They knew I was pissed.

Mariah didn’t. I bit back what I wanted to say to them and instead said to Mariah, “I wish you weren’t a liar. That whole I’m poor thing really had me going. Clearly you’ve lived in Switzerland your entire life and trained with the Olympic team.”

“This is the most fun I’ve ever had. It’s such a rush! And the mountains are beautiful, and all the snow.” Still breathing hard with exertion, making her breasts rise and fall, she looked down at my boots. “Where are your skis?”

Peeling my gaze away from her chest, I focused on her eyes. “I don’t have skis.”

“What? Why? Go get some and ski with me.”

“I’d love to, but I have to work on—”

“Are you scared? I mean, it’s dangerous, I guess, but it’s not like you’re ever permanently hurt. If I get hurt, Sasha says she can fix me.”

The only thing in the world I was scared of was what I could do to her if I wasn’t constantly on guard. She was so wounded. I had to keep that front and center in my mind at all times. Had to be careful and not step over a line. Not only my words, but actions and even thoughts.

I fought to keep from looking at her breasts again. Jesus, that dream had me undone. I wished I could see her as I saw Sasha – like a sister. I’d never, even once, had a sexual thought about Sasha. Strange, because honestly, I had sexual thoughts about most women. Except for the Luminas. I was a son of Hell, but even I couldn’t have impure thoughts about angels.

Would this low hum of sexual awareness disappear once Mariah became a Lumina? Could I then see her as a beautiful girl and not a hot woman I’d sell my soul to see naked, to touch, just once? I cleared my throat and said, “I assure you I’m not scared of skiing.”

“Then work later and ski with us now.”

I leaned down and whispered, “You’re away from the mountain, at risk.”

With her face scarcely two inches from mine, she whispered back, “They think I don’t know, but Sasha is keeping Eryx front and center in her mind. He’s in Washington and I’m nowhere on his radar. Come on, Phoenix, don’t worry so much. Go get some skis and do this with me, just for a little while.”

“I’d rather take you home.”

“Three more hours until dark, then I’ll go back and stay there until it’s safe for me to leave again.”

I knew I should say no. It was a needless risk. But the look on her face, the sound of her laughter – I wanted to hear it again and again. I sighed. “All right, fine, but the second you ski too far away from any one of us, we’re going back. Capice?

She grinned at me and my heart thudded hard against my ribs. “Let’s race.”

I groaned, then we all popped down to Mountain Village so I could get some skis. And food. I hadn’t eaten and was starving.

We went in the Blue Dog Grill and ordered crab claws, chicken kabobs, and burgers. Mariah ate almost as much as Sasha, who ate far more than an ordinary human girl because of Mephisto. I wondered if Mariah was too poor to buy food? She obviously relished what she ate, seeming to enjoy every single bite.

When we were back up on the slopes, she beat me twice, I beat her twice, and Jax said we had to have a tie-breaker, which is how we wound up at the top of the most difficult run at Revelation Bowl. I looked down at the almost vertical drop, at the tiny figures that were Jax and the others waiting for us at the bottom, and asked her, “Are you sure about this?”

“You’re chicken, aren’t you?”

“They say chicken in Romania?”

“It’s a worldwide euphemism for cowards.”

“I doubt that.”

“Look it up.” She schussed left ski, then right ski, gripping her poles, focused on the slope. “Are you in, or not?”

This was going to be epic. “I’m in.”

“Prepare to lose, my friend.”

“I’m out of practice.” I was never actually in practice. Until today, I’d skied four times my whole life, and those were related to a takedown back in the fifties. I learned, practiced, then we did the takedown, and my skiing career was over.

“Excuses already? You must think you’re going to lose.”

My competitive nature roared to life. “Not hardly.”

“Okay, on three.”

We counted together and as soon as we both said three, I pushed off. Just as I’d thought, it was incredible. Exhilarating. I risked a glance at her and saw she was laughing. We were neck and neck, moving faster and faster. I could see Jax and the others clapping and yelling. I’m pretty sure they were all rooting for Mariah, which only made me want to win that much more.

Unfortunately for my manhood, she smoked me, probably because I tried to be tricky and jumped a mogul instead of skiing around it. My landing almost sent me crashing, and by the time I’d regained my balance, she was ten yards ahead, and I never caught up.

When we were with the others, she pulled off her goggles and hat and high-fived Sasha. And she laughed. For the first time in a thousand years, I didn’t mind losing. I’d do it over and over, just to hear her laugh.

Author of the RITA winning Pink Files series, Stephanie Feagan has had a love affair with romance novels since she was eleven and discovered there are kissing scenes in Victoria Holt books. She spent a lot of time in her closet with a flashlight, reading as fast as possible to get to the end, only to start a new book and begin the whole Leave-Me-Alone-I’m-Reading cycle all over again. She still stays up until the wee hours to finish books, now courtesy of a lighted e-reader which she believes is mankind’s greatest invention ever.

Stephanie also writes Young Adult and New Adult paranormal romance as Trinity Faegen. A practicing CPA who loves travel, books, new pencils, old keys, and smart guys, she lives in the oilfields of west Texas with her engineer husband and a mean cat. She’d love to hear from you. She’s aware the similarity between her pseudonym, Faegen, and her real name, Feagan, confuses pretty much everyone, herself included. Since so many mispronounce Feagan as FEEgan instead of FAYgan, she thought she’d mix it up when she took a pseudonym and make it easier on people. Now people say FayEEgen, and spell it wrong. My Review:

Mariah is the main character, and though I haven’t read the others in this series, I find each main character of each book is connected. Yes, I will say the good thing is that you can read this as a stand alone, I did it with easy, but I have every intention of now going read the first two of this series now 🙂 This is going to maybe be hard for some readers, as this is very real life situations we have, especially with the abuse, and while it’s horrid that this abuse happens in real life everyday-trust I know this personally- it had made Mariah’s character one of the most touching I’ve read in a while. I felt every inch of her pain and the writing has made that so much more.

This is a complicated subject as I know some people don’t wanna talk about that, but it’s such a beautiful thing to be a survivor. Especially when you look at how your very own biological sister got to grow up good because of the foster system, while you had a bad hand. This is the case with Mariah and Jordan. This was a gut wrenching, tear spilling story, but hot damn if it wasn’t a beautiful story in the end. And while I say again, I read this book with easy, I think I will go ahead and say GET THEM ALL FIRST! I KNOW there are things in those first two novels that will just make the big picture so much MORE.

Mariah and Phoenix’s relationship is also one that might break your heart, or heal it, depends on how you look at it 🙂 I really don’t want to say too much, as I could give away some major spoilers, but I am not very interested in all of these series books and the future ones to come. I believe I may be even more shocked when I read the first two, and then the fourth, which will hopefully not keep me waiting too long! The writing is fantastic and the plot is not something you will think of as predictable or repetitive. I am very much a new fan! 4.5 Tear Jerking, Heart Warming PAWS!

Give Me Reason Blog Tour

Hello everyone, I’ve got more goodies for you today 🙂 Let me show you!

Give Me Reason (Reason #1)

Vivienne Callahan has known only hardship. As if growing up with an alcoholic, drug addicted mother wasn’t traumatic enough, she’s escaped from her physically and verbally abusive boyfriend only to struggle every day to make ends meet as a waitress in a Minneapolis diner.

Along comes Mikah Blake, a handsome stranger who quickly takes an unexpected and persistent interest in her. On the surface, “Mr. Suit” seems to be Vivienne’s opposite: rich, well-fed, successful. As Vivienne will learn, Mikah is more than he seems, and for reasons unknown, he’s determined to be her knight in shining armor. But after having finally found her own two feet after years of abuse, it’s difficult for her to accept Mikah’s help.

Will her body’s unexpected response to Mikah’s touch be reason enough to overcome her pride and traumatic past and learn to love and trust? Or will her past, refusing to be left behind, come back to claim her?

He’s looking down at me, making me feel small at five feet two inches. He has to be at least six feet tall. Broad shoulders. His suit today is gunmetal grey with blue or black pin striping—I can’t tell which. His shirt is a beautiful lavender color with a darker purple tie.

“How do you know I’m not an addict?” I ask, softly.

He smiles at me, warm, genuine. “Because, you’ve come to return the money I left you last night as a tip.” My jaw falls open.

“How”—I swallow hard—”did you know?”

His smile fades a little. “Because, why else would you come down here?”

I close my mouth and look down at the floor. His ability to read me is really scary.

“Since you haven’t eaten since last night, I’m going to take you to lunch.”

I feel my face flush bright red, both in anger and complete irritation. “That is not why I’m here. I’ve survived for my entire life fending for myself, I don’t need some rich hot shot business mogul buying me food.” I reach into the pocket of my bag and pull the folded up paper from it. I thrust it towards him. He refuses to take it. Tears of frustration trickle down my cheeks. “Damn it Mikah, take it.” I push it at him again and again he refuses. “I’m not a damn charity case. I don’t need your money or your food.”

The bell chimes. We’ve finally reached the skyway. As soon as the doors open, I drop the folded up paper with his money in it and bolt from the elevator, turning left, hoping and praying I can get away.

“Vivienne, stop.” I hear him say behind me. I keep going, walking quickly but not running. Yet. I’m trying hard to not make a scene.

But he doesn’t seem to care about that. He catches me quickly, spins me around. I grab hold of his arm to catch my balance so I don’t go sprawling onto the floor.

It is from Glendale, Arizona that Zoey Derrick, a mortgage underwriter by day and romance and erotica novelist by night, writes stories as hot as the desert sun itself. It is this passion that drips off of her work, bringing excitement to anyone who enjoys a good and sensual love story.

Not only does she aim to take her readers on an erotic dance that lasts the night, it allows her to empty her mind of stories we all wish were true.
Her stories are hopeful yet true to life, skillfully avoiding melodrama and the unrealistic, bringing her gripping Erotica only closer to the heart of those that dare dipping into it.

The intimacy of her fantasies that she shares with her readers is thrilling and encouraging, climactic yet full of suspense. She is a loving mistress, up for anything, of which any reader is doomed to return to again and again.

 My Review:

I was a little reluctant to read this one, but something said I might enjoy it, so I did! And I had no idea what to expect. I kind of like that, when you read a synopsis and try to figure out what kind of supernaturals your gunna find in a book. I liked that you learn quickly that you’re gunna be reading about angels, but maybe you shouldn’t judge too fast. I’m also not normally and angel fan, but I really liked this one! Maybe you should check it out too 🙂

Vivienne has not had it easy. After she barely escaped her abusive husband, and tries to pick up the pieces of her life by working as hard as she can in a little diner, some strange things start happening. I must say, she is definitely determined, and though maybe has a less optimistic outlook on life-with understandable reasons- she also never gives up. She busts her booty to get her life back together. And then comes in the big old HAWT piece LOL

Mikah has that sexy accent, he’s HAWT, rich, kind, and wants nothing more that to help her, protect her, love her. They do have that insta-love thing going on, but it didn’t seem too forced which made it easier. He’s sweet, he has a little supernatural secret, and he’s all about Vivienne.

So, I will say, if you look at one single review, including mine now, every single one will say CLIFF HANGER. LOL I usually don’t read reviews of a book before I write my own, but after that major cliff hanger-which I usually like- I went searching and had to laugh, because I am not the only one freaking out about what just happened with that cliff hanger. LOL I think that it maybe could have been done just a little bit more…. I’m not sure, I do normally very much like cliff hangers, but this one left me a little too much….. something. LOL It’s hard to describe, but I plan on reading book two, as I think I’ll need to, in order to get some answers, and maybe a little satisfaction too 🙂 4 TEAR JERKING, REAL LIFE PAWS!

I hope you guys check this one out 🙂 And I wish you all a happy reading and later gators! PS, Happy HUMP Day 🙂

Book Description:

19-year-old Emily desperately wants a name for what she is. For what is consuming and torturing her. For what is changing her.

But she’s not crazy like her mother. She’s not.

Emily may not be as crazy as she thinks, because her body is no longer her own. Something is stirring inside her. It is soft, seductive, and tells her what to do to survive. As Emily learns that her world has been infected by demons that consume human souls and fit seamlessly into the bodies they empty, she must also accept that she is one of them. Yet, she is different from the rest, because her darkness didn’t inhabit her, it was awakened. And it doesn’t just want the humans.

Short Excerpt:

I was never supposed to live.

At least, that was what my mother would scream at me during her rages, her face twisted into savage fury as she lunged at me—either to kill me or mutilate me, I could never really tell.

“You are wrong! You are an abomination!” she cried before charging at me, her right arm raised high as if to slay me in one swift, ferocious plunge.

Yet, for reasons that still escape me, she would never make that one final move. She would always stop mid-leap, her face frozen and twisted for a few terrifying seconds before I would see her body slacken, her tendons snapping and releasing like broken cords as she fell heavily to the floor, just before reaching me. What I remember most clearly was that moment of calm, chilling stillness, just before her legs would collapse beneath her, where her eyes, wide and unblinking, would focus solely on mine. Even when the rage turned into haggard despair and she crumbled before me, she would never look away.

That memory, that horrifying image of my mother that I could never entirely erase, was the first thing that entered my mind when my world started falling apart.

The beginning of my destruction started out suspiciously enough. White blurred into black in front of me, the steam rising like smoke and clogging my breath as I stirred, clink, clink, clink. My face was heated, too hot, and I swiped a quick hand over my damp brow before I mustered up a smile.

“Here you are.”

“Oh, uh, no. I ordered a white mocha. Not a mocha mocha.”

I lifted tired eyes to his face, lowering my chin in apology. “Shoot, sorry. Just hang on a sec.”

“Yeah well, hurry up would you? I have class in like, two minutes.”

Then maybe you shouldn’t be stopping three blocks away for some chocolate coffee. My smile didn’t transmit my thoughts as I grabbed the still steaming cup. I adjusted my apron as I walked back to the coffee station, wincing as the hot cardboard began to scald my fingertips. I swore as I thunked it down onto the counter and the coffee hit my hand.

Holding my hand against my stomach, I used the other to grab a fresh cup and tried to ignore the sounds of impatient patrons behind me.

What was wrong with me today?

I felt normal, but not quite. My mind felt thick, my focus slightly wavering on the edges, enough to make me slightly dizzy. I blinked, trying to bring clarity back to both my vision and my thoughts as I fiddled with the espresso machine. Once started, I leaned my forehead against the cool cabinet doors above, waiting for my heated, slick skin to finally cool down.

“You okay? You look like you’ve found a hidden portal in that espresso.”

Macy Forrester’s warm brown eyes were trained on mine as I glanced behind me and at her.

“Is it a portal back in time? ‘Cuz I could really use a do-over this morning.”

I squinted, trying hard to focus on her. She went hazy for only a moment before my eyes readjusted.

“No, I’m fine, it’s just been a busy morning,” I finally replied as I turned the dial on the milk steamer. I couldn’t even muster up the energy to banter with my best friend like I usually did.

Macy raised her perfectly plucked brunette eyebrows. “You’re not seriously stressed, are you? You should have seen my morning. I usually bomb Natural Science, but this morning was a particularly epic explosion.” Her eyes followed me as I walked past her and dropped the guy’s white mocha in front of him. “Mixed up my molecules. Probably destroyed the atmosphere. It wasn’t pretty.”

“You know me, always in my own head.” I smiled at her, hoping I looked more normal than I felt. “Sorry I missed your near-explosion, though.”

“More like my near-death. ” She leaned her elbows on the pick-up counter, making herself at home.

My shift-mate, a sullen girl named Andrea, made sure to give Macy the stink-eye as she plopped a drink on the counter beside mine. Macy smiled serenely in return.

The guy held out dollar bills to pay, but I waved him away. “On the house. Sorry about the mistake.”

Pleased, he turned away without so much as a thank you, making room for the next person.

“Large coffee. Extra light.”

I nodded, twisting around to pour coffee out of the decanter and narrowly avoiding crashing into Andrea. The rush before the university’s four o’clock classes was starting, and with only Andrea and I on the floor, it was becoming exhausting and cramped behind the counter. I powered through, refusing to succumb to my dizziness, even if it was making my surroundings tilt sideways. Rent was due soon. I couldn’t afford to miss it.

“So I have gossip,” Macy said, oblivious to the people navigating around her. The sound of their voices and footsteps ricocheted against my body, clogging my ears, their movements like clusters of nits clouding my eyes. It took severe effort for me to keep my attention on Macy as I ran around, grabbing milk, pouring espresso, blending frappes.

I clutched the espresso lever a little tighter. “What about? You know I’m always the last to hear it.”

Macy sighed extravagantly before saying, “Which I will never understand, since I’m always the first, and you’re my best friend.” It didn’t seem to occur to Macy that I didn’t go to NYU with her. Or any college for that matter. “I saw someone today. Well, a guy and a girl, but you know who I care about.”

My Review:

I love new fun books! Especially when the keep me interested from the start. You’ve got demons attacking, and the supposed to be human girl they attack all of a sudden attack back, and all kinda crazy, all the while not even knowing what she is. With some excellent plotting and a wonderfully intriguing cover to add to it’s appeal, I am definitely now a new fan of this author and her debut.

Poor Emily, she really does think she’s going crazy, like her mom. This are just not supposed to be like this, as she’s fought so hard to hold on to what little she has left. She really does have a lot to deal with, especially when the hot guy shows up. Emily talks about her self as having both good and evil inside her, and that’s made for such an interesting look into a main character. I think this is what I loved about her. I felt that she was so engaged and it made you, the reader, engage in the story even more.

Asher is pretty hot. He’s mysterious, he’s the new guy who just shows up, and he’s got secrets of his own, and he’s got a twin 🙂 I would love to tell you so many things about him, but the author did such an excellent job at keeping the secrets and letting thing be revealed that I would totally ruin the book if I did that. Let me just say that you’ll either love him or hate him, and I won’t tell you which I feel 🙂 Heh, me and my teasers!

In the moment of plot twists and total shock value, this book is excellent! I am well amazed right now. I am also not sure how to describe it. I think I would go with a fantasy mystery, as there is paranormal, but not really romance, there’s fantasy, but not too outrageous, and there’s a lot to figure out as you go. But I will label it as almost any age because I have a feeling that a LOT of readers would enjoy this book! I am really excited to learn so much more and I really can’t wait for book two. PLEASE tell me book two won’t make me wait too long!!! 5 EXCELLENTLY MYSTERIOUS PAWS!

Author Interview

First, tell me a little about your book :)….

I first want to say thank you for having me, Maghon! My book is about a 19-year-old trying to be normal in New York City after a tormented childhood. Unfortunately, her torment isn’t over. She’s beginning to change, and it isn’t for the better. Something is growing inside her, something evil. My book takes a darker dive into humanity than your usual paranormal romance. I like to call it an urban fantasy with paranormal elements.

Well I say THANK YOU for coming over! Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?

I think my parents would tell you I always just knew! Truly, I’ve always loved writing, and often used it to escape. I was a really shy kid, and I loved creating different worlds that I could live in. I started handwriting stories, and as soon as I learned to type, I began writing novels. This is my first completed novel though, and I have to say, writing THE END felt amazing!

I think it’s pretty easy to believe you always knew, because this book was EXCELLENT! What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?

Being shy, I think. I just wanted to be more outgoing, but could never get my nerve up. Once I figured out I could create characters that could take that leap, I knew I’d found my passion. What inspires me are girls who are just like I used to be, kind of making their way through high school but looking for that temporary escape from reality.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

I think I’m creating a theme here! Yes to both. Because I’m shy, I’m often inside my own head. My imagination can really run wild, and so I often let my thoughts flow when I’m writing. If I weren’t so shy growing up, I don’t think I’d be able to write the way I do, so in that sense my writing comes from experiences in real life. I also like to add traits of my friends and family into my characters to make them seem more realistic. For example, my character Macy hates coffee and only drinks hot chocolate. Shout out to my BFF Katie!

How do you choose when/which characters die in your books?

Oh, what a good question! I don’t like to force my characters into any situations. Instead, I let them guide me. That may sound weird, but it works! If you force a situation upon your characters, your readers can definitely tell. So any actions my characters take, it has to seem right—even when they die. I wouldn’t just kill someone off spontaneously. But if it feels right, I’ll do it. I have to say though, I do love a book where no one is safe. Game of Thrones, anyone?

YES! and that was a very excellent answer! Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

I’m an avid reader, and will pick up almost anything to read. Blame my parents! I’ve grown up in a house of books. Right now I’m a big fan of Laini Taylor, author of Daughter of Smoke and Bone and Days of Blood and Starlight.

Who do you look up to as a writer?

I’d have to go with the author, Nora Roberts. Montana Sky was the first romance book I ever read, and I fell in love with her writing. I’ve been reading her books ever since. Luckily, she has a lot to choose from!

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?

I already did the big change. Dark Souls was originally set in a small town, with my main character in high school. After a lot of deliberation, I changed it to a 19-year-old living alone in NYC. I couldn’t be happier with the change! It made a huge difference.

Hmmm, that would be different… Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

I free write my first drafts, meaning I don’t outline. Essentially, my first draft is my outline! Because of that, I sometimes run into roadblocks where I have no idea where to go next. It always comes though. I just keep writing and eventually the answer reveals itself. As a result, the character Derek came as a complete surprise to me.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre?

I’m currently reading Justice for Sara by Erica Spindler, a suspenseful thriller. I told you I read everything! So far, it’s awesome.

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?

Me! Well, almost me. Stock images are great gifts to indie authors. I went to shutterstock.com with a certain image in mind. I searched it, and that gorgeous blue smoke you see came right up. I knew it was the one! Then Adobe Elements came to play, and I added the title. So while the art is definitely not mine (I do not possess that kind of talent), the book cover came from my imagination.

WOW! Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?

Patience. I learned a lot—a lot—of patience. Writing the first draft is fun. Revising is not. And I had to do a lot of revising, adding, deleting, changing, reformatting…it never ended! But looking back, I do have to say I loved the process. I’ve made mistakes along the way, but I learned that everything takes time. Whether you choose to go indie or traditional in publishing, patience is essential.

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?

Macy. Definitely Macy, because she’s the least tortured of all my characters. Although she has problems of her own, she’s a true friend. She’s the person you can go to when you’re dumped by your boyfriend, or if you just need to complain about your day. She has the ability to always make you smile, no matter how horrible your day was.

Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because?

Yes! I’ve been delving into the YA genre, because my book kinda sorta falls into it, and ran into some true gems. Here are a few that I loved:

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

The Program by Suzanne Young

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Angelfall by Susan Ee

Some excellent choices 🙂 Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

A huge THANK YOU doesn’t even begin to cover it. I love to write and will always do it, but there is no better feeling when someone you’ve never crossed paths with gives that 5 star rating. It means you’re affecting people without even realizing it, and I just can’t tell you how good that feels. Writing is a part of me—it’s my soul—and it is wonderful when others see that. They just get you. They get exactly what you’re trying to do. It’s amazing.

About the Author:

Ketley Allison is a twenty-something (maybe almost thirty-something) author who believes that supernatural love shouldn’t stop at eighteen. She began her career by writing books as birthday presents for her friends (with her friend as the main character and opposite a super sexy lead, of course) before ending it in order to walk down a path she thought she was supposed to follow.

The writing bug never left her–and, in fact, would often bleed into the official papers she was supposed to write–so now Ketley’s putting down her suit and finally following her dream. While her friends are no longer the stars of her books, she still throws in bits and pieces of them into each and every one of her characters.

As a result, her books tend to focus a lot on friendships as well as love, because let’s be honest, friends are what really get you through–especially when your epic love turns into epic heartbreak.

My Review:

So just a little while back, I read Waterfall, which was book one. I absolutely loved it. And so I needed to read this one ASAP, so I am so glad for blog tours with books I love! 🙂 I’m also a little mad, and devastated, because I SO CALLED MADOC FIRST!!! It’s like the second sentence in my Waterfall review. LOL I loved Jordan and all, but I totally wanted Madoc…. *sigh* another Book Boyfriend stolen away…. But anywho, let’s talk seriously now 🙂

Madoc is the broody HAWT PIECE of a dragon. He needs to find his mate, but that doesn’t mean he’s gunna make it easy on anybody LOL I do feel bad for him, because he thought he found his mate once, and it wasn’t “the one” and she died, so he’s not so really trying hard, but he really needs to if he wants to keep living. He’s pretty brilliant too. He’s trying to invent a time travel machine, say a watch, that will let him fix all this curse and death business. And this is how he meets his mate 🙂

Fina is the clockmakers daughter. She totally hates Madoc. LOL you know, for a while. Madoc caused some trouble in the past and gave her a lot of hardships. And of course, Madoc goes about the mate thing all wrong, and turns all cave man. Poor girl.

There’s some excellent plot twists, especially when you learn about the curse, and how things work, and the bad guys in the background trying everything in their power to take these dragon brothers down. If you are about steamy romance, with HAWT dragon shifter, and strong females, you are in for so many goodies! I really enjoy this series and I’m so glad there’s more brothers! I suspect it’ll get even better from here!! 🙂 YAY! 4.5 STEAMY ALPHA MALE PAWS!

Author Interview

First, tell me a little about your book :)….

Open Flame is the second book in my Dragon’s Fate series.  This story is about Madoc the fire Zir. The story takes place mainly in Paris with glimpses of a few of the characters from book one.  Though, you don’t need to read book one to enjoy this book.

I had a lot of fun writing this one.   I hope you all enjoy it too!

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?  I have always loved reading. Romance books are my favorite, though I also love mysteries, horror, great fiction.   I was at a point in my life where my creative outlet was not being used. So I thought about how to use my creative energy and decided on a New Years resolution that I would try to write a book.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it? My first book has never been finished. I have thought about pulling the story back out but have yet to do so.  It was my learning grounds and I know I will have to do a lot of revisions on it.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?  Neither. Though I do take quirks from people I know and from myself and put those into my books.

How do you choose when/which characters die in your books?  I don’t. The story comes to me, and the people who die do.

Who do you look up to as a writer? Any one who makes writing a full time job and can survive on it. Most authors are like artist, unless you hit the big three bestseller lists you only make enough to do small special things with the money you earn.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book? Open Flame….Nope.  I am not a plotter. The stories come to me as I type. I do edit and do revisions based on things that come to me in later chapters, but I don’t regret any decisions I have made in my stories.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Finding time to write with family and day job demands.  I also struggle at first with writing scenes that are overly violent and twisted scenes.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre? World War Z.  The book is amazing. I have not seen the movie yet, but plan to this week.  Have you seen it and read the book? If so how does it compare to the book?

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?  Someone paranormal.  I love the idea of having a special power. Grin.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Thank you for waiting for my next book. I know I only produce two- three stories a year and many others do more.  I adore each and every one of you.  Hugs. Lacy.

Essenced Review with Giveaway!

Hello everyone! Today I have a special guest. Ms Connie was very sweet to offer me a copy to review her new book and I am so grateful. But BEFORE I get too crazy, I wanna share a little secret!

Yep, today on Amazon, this book is a freebie, so go get your copy. It’s very cool! Now let me show you some goodies!!!

Essenced (The Division Chronicles: Book One)

Synopsis: I have a YA/Urban Fantasy novel (with Paranormal Romance elements) that I’m hoping you’ll consider having on your blog. I’m the author (Connie L. Smith), and the title is Essenced (The Division Chronicles: Book One). Here’s the blurb:
Years ago, demons were forced out of the earth’s realm by a band of supernatural fighters, banished from the place and its people in the aftermath of a horrific war. It should’ve ended there – would’ve – if not for the final demon’s claw snagging on the open portal. What felt like victory became only a reprieve, the winning warriors understanding that the tear would spread, and the demons eventually would escape exile. It was only a matter of time, and a need for future defense – a question of genetics and essences, magic and power.

Now centuries later, a new army must bind together – one of teenagers with inhuman potentials and abilities.

AJ went to bed Sunday night an average teenage girl, clumsy to a fault and athletically lacking. So when she wakes up Monday morning with super-strength, she does what any rational person would do: She goes into denial. When a smoking hot guy in a suit shows up, rambling about the end of the war and demons spilling through some kind of rift, she refuses to listen, telling herself he’s insane. Except weird things just won’t quit happening, and the guy keeps popping up in her life, trying to explain the changes suddenly happening within her. Is she crazy, or is this guy… not so crazy after all?

The moments she stood staring at her painting did little to settle her tears. Surrendering, she turned – watery eyes and all – to the trainer waiting a few feet behind her, watching her. “Thank you so much,” she whispered as the drops began spilling down her face.

He walked to up her, wiped them away with his thumbs. “I’m glad you like it, swe… AJ.”

She shook her head, teary smile on her face. “You can call me sweetheart again.”

He smiled in return. “I’m glad you like it, sweetheart. But it doesn’t…”

Again, she shook her head. “It does. And I started it. I called you a coward.”

“Yeah, but…”

“But nothing. We were both mean, and you…” She laughed, still smiling and crying, with another happy scan of the room. “And this…” Shaking her head once more, she glanced back at him. “It’s perfect.”

He pressed his forehead to hers, closing his eyes to let the acceptance pour through him before he eventually pulled away, both hands remaining on either side of her face. “So we’re okay?”

“Yeah.” She grinned. “We’re okay. For now. I imagine you’ll drive me crazy again tomorrow.”

He laughed. “Pot and kettle, sweetheart.”

My Review:

Ok, sooo, what happens is all of a sudden, you wake up, and instead of hitting the snooze button on your alarm, you break the whole table its on. LOL I seriously giggled when this happened to AJ. She was quite, uncoordinated, and really not so popular. And then she wakes up and everything is losing control, including her. I like AJ. She’s actually your more typical teenager. She’s not in the “big clique” but she’s not the bottom feeder either. She has interests and flaws just like every other teenage girl. She freaks out when a hot guy talks to her, because something my be up if this is happening. And then, things get crazy, she’s got to use those powers.

So it’s not really like school, more like a really really serious boot camp, run by crazy angels. LOL HAHAHA I’m sorry I’m still laughing. I actually loved this part because there’s no boring learning, they are working all these kids out like you wouldn’t believe. Like, I would be dying on my first hour of my first day. And jeez, I’m hungry too as the food isn’t superb. 🙂 And I don’t think I’d wanna be that sweaty all the time. But on the serious note, demons are coming, and if these kids can’t stop them, it’s lights out, for the whole world. It’s definitely a cool storyline.

There are so very many fun characters in this book. I seriously cannot wait to see so much more of them. Yes, AJ is mostly the main character, but you get to meet so many, including some small POV changes from some of the other “major” characters. Each character has their own different powers and personalities. I LOVED THIS! It was fantastic!

I am seriously impressed as this was the author’s FIRST book and it was really well written. It kept my interest from start to finish. It had me engaged with all the characters. And it’s only the beginning because this is really just the story of all these kids who are going to save the world. You are learning how does what, and who’s going to be allies, and what they’ve had to endure just to get there. The big part of the war isn’t even here yet. 🙂 I am very excited to continue this series ASAP!! If you liked the paranormal YA stories of all those kids who are supernatural beings and go off to school to better themselves, this is right up your alley. I happen to love all of those, except that it’s not school, it’s like supernatural boot camp LOL It’s got a little bit of everything, humor, romance, paranormal aspects, and some “finding yourself” moments that are pretty awesome! So, a wonderful 4.5 EXTREMELY VORACIOUS PAWS!

Author Interview

First, tell me a little about your book and why you wanted to write this particular story….

Essenced is the first book of The Division Chronicles trilogy. Millennia ago, there was a war between demons and a number of species, many of which only exist in myth anymore. Though those species won the war, and they banished the demons to another realm, the door between the realms was damaged before it could close, keeping it from closing completely. Instead, it would slowly open until everything that was banished – and more – would find its way back through. Magic was leaking out of the universe, so most of the species that had fought in that war wouldn’t survive to fight again. Knowing they would need warriors with extraordinary abilities to win the upcoming war, they bottled away what remained of magic and locked away the essences of many of the species in humans. In time, when the portal opened too far, the magic would be released, and the essences would be brought to life. This book is the beginning of that resistance.

I guess I wanted to write it because it wouldn’t quick floating around in my head. I left it alone for a while, not sure if I’d even be able to pull off writing it, but with its persistence (and encouragement from a friend – author, Catherine Peace), I eventually caved and attempted to write it out.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?

My first writing love was actually songwriting. I can remember making up lyrics to songs I’d hear on the radio when I was still in elementary school. Of course they were highly plagiarized at the time, but I got better! Even with writing novels now, I still love writing verse. One of my characters actually has a tendency to randomly recite emo-poetry (not his fault – I promise!), so it’s something I was able to incorporate within this book. I just love the feeling, as far as songwriting goes, of making a little series of words sum up what someone else is feeling, but couldn’t really put to words. As an author, it’s more knowing that I can create characters and situations in a book that draw a reader in. Hopefully I’ve succeeded, but I guess that’s up to every individual reader.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?

This actually is my first book! WOW well then well done!! Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Definitely not the overall storyline, but there are things that might pop up in the story from everyday life. In fact, I can think of one scene that might be in book three of the series that is like a chapter out of my own life. Pieces of me or of people around me can make cameos, but the story itself, without question, is nothing I’ve experienced.

How do you choose when/which characters die in your books?

This is so hard for me! I won’t give any major spoilers, but this is a trilogy of books based on war. Odds are characters will die, and if they don’t, then I’m not being very realistic. One in particular I knew would die, and it really just broke my heart because I enjoyed writing that character. I guess that’s the point. I don’t kill people in books unless it fits or is necessary, and I dread those moments until they happen. When it’s a pretty vague front, like a general battle without a set series of those kinds of consequences in mind… Things gets a little more muddled as I try to decide which ones have to go and which ones can stay. Know that, on my end, I’m probably grieving when it happens!

AWWW I mean I know some are gunna die but now I’m sad! Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

I like quite a few newer authors. I absolutely adore Patch from the Hush, Hush series, so Becca Fitzpatrick should be named. Kody Keplinger comes to mind, though she’s contemporary, not fantasy. I could give you a few more contemporary names, but this is a fantasy blog, I do believe! Brent Weeks is among my favorites. I loved his Night Angel books. Quite a few newer ones on my bookshelf.

Who do you look up to as a writer?

The author that made me fall in love with reading, and fantasy books, is R.A. Salvatore. The Legend of Drizzt series stole my focus for many weeks of my life a few years ago, and I’m still reading about Drizzt when Salvatore releases new ones. (Not the YA series he wrote, even though I like YA.) He just has a way of telling a story that’s so fluid. I’m also a fan of Terry Pratchett, and all the humor that he brings to the table. I like books from so many different types of authors, and I’d like to think elements of each bring themselves into my writing. Again, I guess that’s up to each reader to decide.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?

Just last weekend, I finished the rough draft to a prequel novella for the series, and I really regretted the timeframe I put for the first war. Three years was a bit long for what I’d had in mind, and I had to change my approach. As it is now, in general, I can’t think of any major things I’d want to change. It’s actually why I’m attempting to stick with self-publishing for this book. I like it, and I don’t want to have to change pieces of it to fit a publisher’s ideal.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Like any sane writer (are there any of those???), I HATE editing. Other than that, I would probably say that I don’t look forward to writing battle scenes, which is a particularly bad thing when your book is about war! Everything is just so detailed, and there are only so many verbs I can use for that situation. In fact, when I think of a new one, it’s an exciting experience. But on the flipside, I’m much more comfortable having someone read a battle scene I penned than a romantic scene. There’s more vulnerability there, I think, and it can be a little awkward.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre? My followers love author’s opinions!
Right now, I’m reading a contemporary book that’s fairly terrible, so I won’t be mean and tell you what it is. I’m also somewhere around halfway through Going Bovine by Libba Bray, though I’ve been sidetracked by editing, other books (Drizzt had a new one!), and whatever else had surfaced. I’m afraid my writing career has limited my reading time 🙂 So, I’m falling back on old answers – go read The Night Angel books!

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?

I LOVE that you asked this question! I’ve haven’t had an interviewer ask me about it yet, so I haven’t had the opportunity to brag on the designer. Her name is Laura Gordon, and I bought it from a website (http://bookcovermachine.wordpress.com/). I cannot recommend this site enough. They have premades, and if you want a custom cover, you can get one for as little as $50. If you’re self-publishing, take a look!

Basically, I told Laura what I wanted – and it wasn’t overly specific – and she ran with it. They were a couple of revisions to change things I didn’t like until I got the book’s cover. Actually, she sent me a secondary option in case I didn’t like the first one, and it’s currently on my computer, waiting to be released as book two’s cover. She did an amazing job.

I LOVED THE COVER!!! Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?

I learned quite a bit through the process that has made writing a little easier now. After having to go back and rework things to take out “was” for the seventh time in one paragraph, or rearrange a sentence to kill dialogue tags, I’m more careful now when I write. Of course, I still have to edit, and I find language issues, but just being more aware of what I’m not supposed to do helps me to prevent future headaches when I have to fix messes I’ve made.

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?

I’ll go with Lexia. She’s Fairy-Essenced and has sparkly wings. Yes, please.

I loved her too, but I believe I’m all werewolf 🙂 Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because?

I guess it really depends on what kind of fantasy you like. As I’ve already said, Salvatore, Pratchett, and Weeks come to mind. Robert Asprin’s Myth Series is fairly priceless as well. Tigana by Guy Gavriel Kay. Covet by J.R. Ward. A Brush of Darkness by Allison Pang (though I haven’t had the opportunity to read the rest of the series.) I’m a pretty big fan of some of the more lighthearted YA books available, but I don’t know how much they have in common with this blog! You can look at some of my favorites on my Goodreads page.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Yes! On September 19th and 20th, Essenced is scheduled to be FREE on Amazon! Beyond that, I have a prequel novella (it’s Paranormal Romance) that should be released probably in late October/early November. And, of course, keep an eye out for book two, Emblazed which should be out early next year. Thanks for having me on your blog!

You are so welcome! PLEASE come back when Emblazed comes out!!!

About the author:

Connie L. Smith
Connie L. Smith spends far too much time with her mind wandering in fictional places. She reads too much, likes to bake, and will be forever sad that she doesn’t have fairy wings. And that she can’t swing dance. When she isn’t reading or writing, there’s a good chance she’s goofing off with her amazing, wonderful, incredible, fabulous nieces and nephew, or listening to music that is severely outdated. She has her BA from Northern Kentucky University in Speech Communication and History (she doesn’t totally get the connection either) and likes to snap photos. Oh, and she likes apples a whole big bunch.

TIED (A Fire Born Novel, #1)

Normal people don’t believe their nightmares stalk them. They don’t fall in love with boys who don’t exist, either.

Seventeen-year-old Layla Labelle, though, is far from normal. Her delusions walk the earth. Her hallucinations hunt her, and her skin heats to a burn every time her anger flares.

Or is that all in her head?

Layla doesn’t know what to believe any more because if none of that’s true, Max MacLarnon must be an illusion, and her heart must still be broken.

No matter how much she wants to believe Max is real, doing so would mean everything else is, too. How, then, is that possible?

The answers lie in an age-old legend the supernatural aren’t prepared to reveal, and with a curse that could tear Layla and Max apart forever—if it doesn’t kill them both first.

In TIED, book one in the Fire Born trilogy, learning the truth will mean fighting an arsenal of demons, and being with Max will put Layla on a path toward her own destruction.

Just how far will Layla go to protect the one she loves?

The answer may never be far enough … away.

Book Trailer:

My window opened easily. The same way it had so many times before. Climbing out on the ledge, I found the ground empty and dropped from the second floor—a jump I’d made a hundred times. In another life.

My feet sunk into the sand, and I followed the well-worn pathway through the dunes. Even the strong evening winds hadn’t misshaped the deep gully. The ocean’s breeze lashed at my hair as the moonlight glinted off the water’s surface. Seagulls flew up from their nesting grounds. They should have recognized me, since I’d been wandering at night for so long. Wrapping my arms around my knees to block the slight chill, I settled in the sand, and the birds quieted in a tight huddle, the wind blowing their feathers in awkward angles.

My gaze fell on a figure standing beyond the dunes edge, a shadow hidden within the darkness. My pulse quickened, but I didn’t move. Another trick—an illusion. Weary of the games my mind continued to play, I bit back tears and the catch in my throat. I should have been immune to them—the hallucinations—the way they haunted me and followed me, but I wasn’t.

Forcing myself to blink, I turned my head away. The visions had grown worse as I’d become older. I’d tried to convince myself they were nightmares—or weird dreams. Hoped for years they were, but only people who sleep dream.

Unable, or unwilling to stop myself, I glanced back over my shoulder, thoughts flooding my brain. Memories I knew couldn’t be memories but I cherished all the same. For years I’d tried to shake them away. To make myself forget.

I couldn’t.

A stone raps against my bedroom window. I creep over and peer through the blinds.

“You’re late.” I lean out over the sill, grinning at the boy staring up at me.

“Come on, let’s go before she comes,” he says.

I climb onto the window ledge. “Be nice. She’s my friend.”

“Okay. Jump.” He waves at me to go faster.

“Move, and I will.”

He takes one casual step to the side.

The jump isn’t too high; I make it all the time.

He grabs my hand when I land beside him in the soft sand. “Ready?”

I nod.

“One, two …”

“I’m going to tell!” Benny runs across my yard toward me, her blonde pigtails flapping in the wind. “You’re not allowed to talk to that boy, Layla! Your mom said!”

Max tightens his grip on my hand.

“Shut up, Benny! I’m old enough.”

“You’re only nine. Don’t go! “

“Three!” Max and I leave the ground.

“You’re going to get in so much trouble.” Benny’s yell rings in the distance.

Our feet touch down in the wet grass of the Otherworld, icy sea air whipping at my face.

“Hopefully, she won’t follow us again.” Max lets go of my hand.

“She won’t. I told her not to.” I lead the way down the cliff face to the ocean.

“She never listens to you.”

My Review:

So…. can I say Gargoyles!!!! LOL Ok, so maybe they aren’t the MAIN part of the book, but it was SOOOOO COOOOOL to have gargoyles. I mean, I was all pumped up! And this is not your typical Fae story. It’s got a wonderful storyline, and even I got depressed and thought she was crazy LOL And, I must say, I got a little scream-y when I was reading. It was definitely a story that kept me glued to its pages!

Layla makes me feel bad for her. And then, when it finally comes down to it, and she realizes she isn’t really crazy, she finds out a whole lot of lies were being fed to her to keep her that way. It’s one of those WOW betrayal moments, when you can’t even scream because you’re that speechless. Anywho, Layla is a likable character once she gives herself a break. And then she starts growing to realize you need to fight for what YOU want, not what other’s want for you. Since this is the first of the series, it’s the beginning, so I look forward to so much more from Layla.

Max is pretty LOL I just keep thinking of him as pretty, but he’s a great guy and his relationship with Layla is sweet, though complicated. I am feeling bad for him too right now 🙂 There are definitely some interesting supporting characters as well. You’ll meet Benny who is a favorite, her boyfriend Sam and his posse, also favorites, and then the fae… It’s gunna get crazy really soon! LOL

I am going to have to keep anything major to myself. I’d really like you guys to discover everything the way I did. You keep thinking in one way or this one thing, and then you can’t help but be surprised when you figure it out. I am already a big fan of this to-be-trilogy. I will absolutely need to read them ALL ASAP! I am impressed with the fact that this story took me so much when it’s a new author for a new series. The writing had me stuck with my nose to my kindle from start to finish. I am very much a big fan now! I can’t wait for more! I hope each of you who reads Tied to love it as much as me, and then tell me, so I can have total fan girl conversations with you about it all!!!! 5 SURPISING COURAGEOUS JAW-DROPPING PAWS!

Author Interview:

First, WELCOME!!! Now, tell me a little about your book and why you wanted to write this particular story….

LM: TIED is a story about a seventeen year old girl named Layla who believes she’s losing her mind because of recurring nightmares. Through a series of events her life basically gets flipped upside down.

The storyline of TIED came to me out of the blue one day, as most of my story ideas do, and Layla and Max refused to shut up. 😉

I’m sure some people wish I would just shut up sometimes LOL Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?

LM: I’ve written since I was a little girl. It’s always been a release for me—something that came naturally.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?

LM: ‘Book’ is probably a broad term. 😉 I think my first attempt at a story was something along the line of Star Wars. I was (am) a Star Wars geek, so I think I was trying my hand at a fantasy/space idea. I was probably around ten years old.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

LM: No, not really. The story line is fantasy and built from my imagination. But TIED is a fairly emotional book in some ways, I think. And I’m not sure we as writers can fake that very well, so I do draw from my own emotions.

How do you chose when/which characters die in your books?

LM: Ah, nice question. The truthful answer—I don’t. I don’t plan every aspect of my stories out. As I write, the book will take a turn, or my characters will, and I follow. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but I definitely let the story lead. That being said, if a character should die, it will be because that’s the way story went. ;(

I always love the differences in that answer! Who do you look up to as a writer?

LM: I look up to my favorite writers. Anne Rice, George R. R. Martin, Tolkien.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?

LM: Ha. Yeah. Of course. But I would continue to mess with my story until the end of time, too. At some point you have to let go.

Can I say I think it’s perfect as is… 🙂 Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

LM: What I said above is probably my biggest challenge. Leaving the story alone. I pick, and rearrange, and pick some more. It’s never just ‘right,’ but that’s the way writing is. Nothing will ever be perfect.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre? My followers love author’s opinions!

LM: Right now I’m reading (and writing) TORN, the sequel to TIED, and I’m beta reading for my fellow author, Alex Nader. BUT … my favorite genre is definitely fantasy/paranormal. YA, mostly, but I love adult stuff, too. Like George R. R. Martin, but I’m YA fan first and foremost.

Ummm, I can’t WAIT for TORN!!!!!!!! Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?

LM: My publisher designed the cover. J. Taylor Publishing. I had some input, but the cover was their brainchild.

Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?

LM: Trust yourself. Believe in your story, and write for you.

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?

LM: Hm … that’s hard because I see myself in a lot of them. But I would probably choose Max. He’s my favorite character in TIED.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

LM: Thank you for taking a chance on TIED. I hope you love it as much as I do. 😉

I definitely DO! Please PLEASE tell me you’ll come back to visit when Torn is ready!!!
