Book Description:

Dearhart Clan is a series of fast paced books that dabble in the world of paranormal and remain in the erotic pulse of what can only be classified as a primal fantasy.  If it’s a typical romance you’re looking for you won’t find it in this series.

Eri Nelson writes in a darker world where heat and need are the forefront for a slipping existence.  There is not time for all the tenderness love deserves but if you’re imprinted to another you are far beyond those mortal requirements.

Our author is driven by swift action packed intrigues that often leave you wanting more.  As she writes each new book into the series the number of pages might increase but the action never lets you feel the increasing distance to the final page.

The Call From Within is Eri Nelson’s first look into this series.  It is here that we meet Owen our Pack’s clan leader.  He has been driven by what is expected of an alpha.  Facts that were told through the decades all but look like fiction to him now.  So he never dared to believe in fate and only let duty push him forth.  Although now his resolves make no sense and it took little to no time at all in showing him through the lust he feels for another.

Kristen Still bares the imprinted mark to our handsome alpha.  However he wasn’t the first to notice what she was and it’s that bedding of prior passions that control her new weakness.  Yes, Owen is pushed by jealousy to possess what his four footed insight tells him is his.

A former distraction wanted more than heated moments with Kristen.  In her he saw a stronger life force for his young and if Brinston Drake must he would take what he needs from her.  He just did not foresee another finding her as well.

While the rest of Eri Nelson’s cast of characters find their selves caught up in furthering personal existences. Another by the name of Wash seeks to use their distractions as his gain.  A rogue sent to track and update, Wash is tested by his hatred and desire for revenge.  He’ll have it but not as quickly as he would like.  But soon enough Owen will slip farther into his madness over a bitch in heat.  Then Wash perhaps can use the heated vixen to distract both her and the alpha into their future demise.

Book Description:

The DHC, Dearhart Clan Series, is a continuing saga that borders on several genres to create what I like to class as dark primal adult paranormal fantasies. In my opinion, the DHC is very erotic but does not fully go into erotica for there are many more aspects I like to let the reader discover from the characters.

Once again, you will encounter Owen Dearhart and his mate Kristen who for a second time find themselves facing obstacles that not only intervene but take away what Owen now finds worth more than the pack itself.

As per request Thomas Dearhart is sent by Owen to track down what they think is a rogue Werewolf. All the while unbeknownst to him, one of their own is taken from the pack. However with knowledge not known a mission at hand takes Thomas finding himself discovering more than what they assumed was a wolf gone astray. It will be this newly discovered venture that will put heat in his loins and a refusal to fully except what is in front of him.

With what seems like destiny fulfilling before him, Wash withers in revenge’s control and takes it upon himself to go further in the mouth of evil for support. So with vengeance as his goal Wash goes back to Opts where Yvone fully intends to arbitrate his ruthless control over not only the situation but Wash as well.

As a cast of characters emerge fighting not only their inner turmoil but those wishing to take them down it should be of no surprise that a few extra faces are now tossed into this dark and desperate world of the unknowns, where the urges of the beast weigh even heavier on their still looming demise.

Book Description:

This third book is far darker than its predecessors, venturing down a path that will ultimately have readers at the door to another series, INK.

Owen and Kristen wage the war of captivities’ control and fight all obstacles to find their ways back to each other. However, neither will ever be the same and brink on the lines of death to see each other once again.

Julia caught in loss will form a bond with an unexpected new life now swaddled around her. While Thomas resolves his needs and wants, to having it all with his mate.

From Forest’s winter attire, comes a new face that hides well and kills even better. But she will not hide as her destiny arrives on the back of a wolf named Bry. For she and he were destined to carry the upcoming change of the werewolves world.

As revenge smolders still in the mind of Wash, he will be faced with the battle of his life and more importantly the man who will soon control all the werewolves’ fates.

~She had been eyeing him from across the room most of the night. He had assumed she was either one of Julia’s friends or had been brought by someone. Jake had hesitated for the most part in approaching for he did not wish to flirt with another’s girlfriend. However, he would risk a possible fight over a woman…. for this particular woman.

They had talked for what seemed like hours, both devouring each other in conversation. Before Jake knew it he and Jo, her full name being Joanne but she made sure she had told him that she preferred Jo, decide to free themselves from the confines of the party and take a walk. It did not take long before they reached the wooden enclosure that stood off from the apartments. The eerie surroundings had always unnerved Julia but Jake with his thrill seeking nature enjoyed the hidden hollows that could be found inside. Stopping short of the cluster of tree’s entryway, Jake paused to see if Jo had a little bit of adventure seeking in herself. With a high-spirited nod from Jo they had thrown fear aside and walked within the darken confines. After a bit of feeling for their way, Jake found his favorite spot. The space held a fallen tree in which to sit upon and just enough of an opening from the trees had allowed the mystical orb above to poke through. A spellbinding location that gave allowances for the nightly glow of the moon. From the high perch skylight adorn by the night’s rich forestry foliages covering, grew life on the flow of the luminous rays. Unable to resist the beauty of the moment two heated bodies sought out each other beneath the glistening beams that came from the hours of darkness.

Hungry with lustful intent they shed their garments and glided their bare forms in zealous glee. Fanatical infatuation sparked flames and sent an unleashed inferno of passion down around them. She was sheer bliss and he was driven to devour her.

The suckling of her ivory peaks set Jake forth in claiming his ultimate prize within her womanly core. With his one true goal in mind, Jake thrust his tip forward to enter Jo’s womanly mound. In eager anticipation, she pushed her hips upward in a sensual glide to join with him. They merged while hunger clung to their backs greedily in search of a contented fulfillment.

Higher than the tree’s lengthy top, the moon felt the presence of a fallen child and began to call out for its return.

Ecstasy began to rise from inside of him. The heavy emotion found Jake pushing harder and faster to achieve completion. All the while Jo thrust upward trapped within her own wanted release. The harder he pumped his hips the faster his heart began to beat. In this frantic rhythm, the wilds contained by his unconscious soul began to come alive and demand its freedom. An insisting command that began to curve his spine and send Jake’s body in a convulsing retch of agony. Once the coursing heave started his anguish, Jake screamed into a partial howl that formed from his newly shaped snout. The sound was loud and earth shattering but it need not be for the woman who still lie beneath the now forming wolf. For she alone could hear and react with ultimate fear. Her frantic pulse of coursing blood seethed through her veins and spoke to the no longer in control Jake.

Fully wolf Jake snarled down on to his prey. Its screams put an ache within his ears and a desire to make it stop. His claws curled around her naked flesh as his mighty neck toss back and hurled force into a blood-curling howl. With the warning sung, he flew his jaw downward and snapped onto the soft meaty section under the morsel’s head. In one quick ripping movement there was quiet.

My review:

Each book gets better and better. 🙂 It’s a wonderful continuation of how the werewolves are fighting for peace and goodness, and finding their mates, to protecting them from the bad guys, and the government-who are also bad guys 🙂 This is an adult book, but it’s not tacky or badly done, as none of the others were either. It’s a wonderful tale that has been weaving a beautiful, deliciously, drama filled web that makes you just keep wanting more.

So things go crazy when we left the last book when Kristen gets kidnapped by Wash. Yep, the bad guy took the good guy’s new lady, and all hell is about to break loose. Thomas and Julia are kinda freaking out with what happened to her brother. And Owen, well, let’s just say I feel really bad for him in the beginning. And now we are going to mee Bry and Karina. Things are getting deep, there’s prophecies flying around, there’s big bad government dudes with silver bullets. I’m still on pins and needles holding on to my seat!

So, things aren’t all bad, and good things happen. And now, there’s even more danger because, there’s some new shapeshifters that are out for everyone’s blood and not to mention the government will do anything and EVERYTHING to get their hands on those lovely ladies. I mean, do you know what a crazy mad scientist could do to the ONLY female werewolves, of course, other than make their lives a living hell. We don’t want to know, so it’s time to step up here.

I’m trying really hard not to give away spoilers. I know if you are reading this, some of things said will give a few things away, but I really do want you guys to read these without saying, “oh, she said this so I know this is going to happen” 🙂 So I will tell you that Owen is an excellent alpha, though sometimes too damn stubborn for his own good. Kristen has learned her lesson that just because you are a newly turned werewolf, doesn’t mean you just get to go romping through the forest whenever you feel like it, especially mated to the alpha AND one of the ONLY females in existence! Thomas is learning that being the right hand man, and a mate are sometimes very complicated, but life has a way of turning out how they need to, regardless of what you THINK you want 🙂 Poor Julia, though she’s a fighter, I’m still a little heartbroken for her. And to the newly elected couple… I will leave you in suspense and say…. OOOOOOOOOOOH LOL Yep, you gotta read it to know their little story! The writing is way to good to just give it all away now! 5 WONDERFUL SUSPENSEFUL WOLFY PAWS!!

By Proxy (Heart of Montana, #1)

Heart of Montana #1

Stubbornly small-town Jenny Lindstrom has misgivings when she promises to stand proxy in her best friend’s wedding—misgivings that are fulfilled when tall, handsome Sam Kelley walks into the courthouse an hour late. In order to keep her promise, an afternoon favor turns into a weekend of startling but undeniable attraction, threatening the well-ordered world that keeps her heart at arm’s length from any more pain.

Sam’s plan is to fly to Livingston, Montana, take vows for his favorite cousin, and return to Chicago as quickly as possible. But his plan is turned upside-down when he must spend a weekend with Jenny in Gardiner in order to keep his word. He doesn’t want to fall for the prim, proper schoolteacher whose small-town life seems to him like selling out, but the more time he spends with her, the harder it is to say good-bye.

When city and country come together for Christmas, the unexpected gift is true love.

The swift pacing of the narrative and quick wit of the characters provide an undeniable appeal…this book is a winner. –Kirkus Book Reviews

By Proxy is an enticing read…The author has created a terrific sense of place in this novel – her debut in print…everyone should enjoy meeting Jenny and Sam. In fact, any of the Lindstrom ‘boys’ would be excellent candidates for a sequel! –Sacramento Book Review

I won an ARC of ‘By Proxy’ thru a Giveaway the author had on her blog, and I’m really glad I did. This is one of the sweetest books I’ve read in a long time. I could tell by the cover, I was going to love it. ‘By Proxy’ is Katy Regnery’s debut novel and to me, she nailed it. –The Booknatics

If you like imaginative romance that takes place in an idealistic setting with richly developed characters, then ‘By Proxy’ by Katy Regnery is the book for you. — Red City Reviews

About the Author

KATY REGNERY, winner of multiple regional contests including the 2013 NECRWA First Kiss Contest and 2013 Maine RWA Everything But The Kitchen Sink Contest, has always loved telling a good story and credits her mother with making funny, heartwarming tales come alive throughout her childhood. A lifelong devotee of all romance writing from Edwardian to present-day, it was just a matter of time before Katy tried her hand at writing a love story of her own.

As it turned out, one love story turned into a series of five Heart of Montana romances, following the love lives of the Yellowstone-based Lindstrom siblings, their friends and family. In addition to small-town contemporary romance, Katy also writes paranormal romance under the pseudonym K.P. KelleyIt’s You, the story of star-crossed lovers, takes place in northern New England and the forests north of Quebec.

Speaking of forests, Katy lives in the relative-wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut where her writing room looks out at the woods. And she’s delighted to share that her husband, two young children and two dogs create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories of all are the messy and unexpected ones.

The Indians and the Crackedskulls are locked in the turmoil of war and presently in a stalemate. Her enemies, Raven and Bloodhawk, have come up with a scheme to up the ante and break the stalemate into their favor. Neiko later finds out that a land she thought she had only imagined is actually real and contains a legendary and otherworldly evil within it. Not only that, she becomes trapped there and must escape the world, the people within it, and the sinister evil within.

Neiko must find her way back home and turn the tables on her enemies. Can she come back home and escape the evil that seeks to claim her?

Neiko’s Five Land Adventure  Excerpt:

After her eyes adjusted to the glare, the two friends could see there was a cavern that was full of perfect crystals. They were in all shapes, sizes, and colors and they came out of the walls, floor, and ceiling. The beauty was spellbinding. “Wow! If I found this in Hawote, then I’d be rich! This is a rock collector’s dream come true!”

“Yeah, but didn’t you say that there were writings about Ramses somewhere in here? I wonder where the ruins of Shadazar are,” Quickstrike rambled.

“Somewhere in here, I guess, and I think we’re close. Let’s keep walking and look at the walls. If there are any branch-offs, then we’ll split up. If you find anything, then come looking.”

“Actually, I’d rather stick together, so we won’t get separated.”

“Good idea, well, I like that idea better too,” she said as they journeyed deep into the caverns. They walked and looked at the walls, but all they found were arrangements and shapes created by crystal; they gleamed and sparkled when the light hit them like multicolored diamonds. Luckily for them, there were no branch-offs, and the caverns appeared as if they were carved into the crystal. New formations were growing in the hewn walls.

Neiko found several broken pieces on the cavern floor; she picked them up and slipped them into her pocket.

“Look, there’s an exit up ahead,” said Quickstrike as he saw a break in the glamour and a darkened cave. As they entered the door, darkness overtook them and there were ruins just ahead. “We found what’s left of ancient Shadazar!”

“Yeah, and we have an underground lake to cross. I wonder what’s on the other side.”

“I dunno, but I’ve noticed the further we go in, the further we go back in time, so that could mean the writings are probably after the lake. How do we get across?”

“There’s a boat right there.” They climbed into the boat, and Neiko got the oars and began to paddle while Quickstrike carried the torch. They could see broken columns and the remains of a bridge that possibly was a shortcut long ago towering over them. She kept paddling, and then they saw a waterfall just ahead. Neiko paddled around it and parked the boat on the bank of the hidden cavern. When they entered the hallway, there were pictures and writings. “Neiko, look! We found it!”

“Hmm,” she said as she looked at the letters which were surprisingly in the alphabet of her tribe.

“Well, it’s written in English, but it is written in the alphabet of my tribe. This will be easy for me to translate.”

“That’s good. So, what does it say?”

Neiko looked at the battling figures and the dark, shadowy form of the Dark Pharaoh fighting and slaying them. She ran her finger under the letters as she read. “This is talking about something called the Good Pharaohs. It says that God created powerful beings called Pharaohs to protect the universe from evil.

Seeking his revenge on Neiko for exposing him, Francesco banishes Neiko into ancient Egypt just like he did her friends eleven years ago. During her stay there, she unravels the mystery of what happened to her four friends. Now she’s faced with a bigger problem—how to get home. After a series of unfortunate events, Neiko is now entangled with Pharaoh Ramesses II. Francesco also comes to make sure their fates are sealed. Can Neiko and her friends beat impossible odds and return to Hawote and back to the present?

Escape from Ancient Egypt Excerpt:

Neiko’s vision turned from the green light to the world spinning around her in dizzying speed. Neiko wasn’t moving, but she felt like she was in freefall—like someone had cut the cable from an elevator and she was plummeting with it. Descending in what—space and time? The evergreen and colorful deciduous vegetation of the Hawote woodlands changed to a desert with a river with some greenery and palms nearby. The cool autumn air of Hawote in October transformed into stifling, searing, dry heat. Pyramids, sphinxes, and strange statues spun around her after her house, porch, and front yard disappeared within the vortex. It was nighttime in Hawote, but the sun rose and set as time flew by—from west to east–backwards. Beneath her bare feet the wood from her front porch turned to nothing then into hot, soft sand.

Neiko’s world stopped spinning, and the sun was high in the sky. Neiko watched the sun to be sure it didn’t move again. Wherever she ended up, she guessed the time must be about high noon there judging by the sun’s position in the sky after a few moments of observation. The heat was intense, and she discovered she must be somewhere far from home. “Where?” was the ultimate question. A gust of wind blew the feathers in her long, black hair. Her hair wrapped around her face, and she brushed it back. Sweat beaded out on her body, and she tugged at her shirt and headband. “Phew! It’s hot out here! Where am I–Death Valley?” she asked. Death Valley was the only desert place she thought of off the top of her head. She had never been there, but she’d read and watched TV programs about the place. She looked around, and a city was only a few feet away. She could see the buildings down below from the high dune where she stood. She took a deep breath and fingered the fringed sheath of her knife to reassure her confidence—without thinking and by instinct. Then after a few more seconds, she trudged down to the city in the soft sand from the dune to go find some answers.

Neiko entered the city still dressed in her buckskin, decorated warrior clothes and painted for war. As she took in the sights and from the confusion, she had forgotten she was armed. Her machete was sheathed to her back, and so was her knife on her side. Incense, perfumes, and music filled the air. She didn’t recognize any of the smells, but the music seemed to be like Egyptian reenactments in movies. The buildings were white alabaster covered in brilliant wall paintings. Some men rode on camels like horses and others led them by a leash. Chariots cantered by. Neiko looked around in amazement. This ruled out Death Valley, Arizona. Neiko lifted her eyes to the sun to get a bearing on north. North was as good of a direction as any to begin a search for answers. After her eyes fell from the sun and to the north, she could see the Pyramids of Giza towering in the distance. She recognized them instantly. She had seen enough pictures and documentaries on the monuments—they were unmistakable. Even though they were miles away, they towered above the city and in view. This definitely wasn’t Death Valley.

In that case I can get on the first flight home, she thought. She believed that she had landed in Cairo. This city came to mind because it’s the only one close to the Pyramids of Giza. Then she realized she didn’t have any money as she put her hands in the pockets of her buckskin shorts and only felt the house key. She had left her wallet in the car back at home when she left from Phoenix’s house after the battle.

“Well, I can probably make up some story that I was abducted or something—which is sort of true. Really funny, Francesco. I guess you meant no way back since I’m broke. I’ll hitchhike back to Hawote if I have to. I’ll scrounge around to see if I can find some change for a pay phone on the road,” she remarked to herself, and maybe the phone book would have some information on where to find an airport or something. But, then again, would the phonebook be written in English or Arabic? It was a chance she had to take. The worst that could happen was not getting anywhere.

Neiko began walking to find help, change, a pay phone, the U.S. Embassy, an airport, or whatever she could find first. After a few more minutes of exploring, she recognized the clothing of the people: white linen kilts, some wore robes and fine jewelry, some wore headcloths while others did not. No one seemed to be dressed like the Arab residents of 21st century Egypt. “Why is everyone dressed like ancient Egyptians?” she asked herself. She wondered if this was some sort of a cult or a weird secret society that lived like the Amish in Cairo.

A small group of armed soldiers marched in front of her, but they didn’t pay any attention to her. They carried swords, shields, spears, and were dressed in ancient Egyptian armor. She had seen it in books and movies. They weren’t carrying guns or dressed in desert camouflage BDUs like Egyptian soldiers of the 21st century.

She headed farther in to the marketplace. It was obvious since people had shops and bazaars selling goods. People were yelling and haggling. People thrust things at Neiko trying to entice her to buy. Neiko put up her hands and shook her head. She couldn’t understand a word anyone was saying. Funny, no one seemed to be selling T-shirts, souvenirs, or that type stuff for tourists. Quite frankly, no one seemed to be selling any maps.

Neiko walked up to a man who was a merchant at a bazaar. He was selling all manner of fine jewelry. Heavy collars, bracelets, necklaces, arm pieces, earrings were on display. All gaudy like the ancient Egyptians liked. “Excuse me, can you tell me where I am? I seem to be lost. Do you know where I can find a map or where the airport is? A phone?” she asked as she made her hand like a phone and put it to her ear; her thumb the earpiece and her pinkie the mouthpiece.

The man looked at her startled because of her strange appearance and because he couldn’t understand her. He was dressed in linen like everyone else and sported some of that same Egyptian bling since he was a successful jeweler.

“That’s a little out of style, don’t you think? I mean, guys don’t wear eyeliner…and, that skirt and that sheet on your head are not how people dress nowadays. People dress like ancient Egyptians only on Halloween. Last I checked it was still three weeks away,” Neiko said to the man as she shook her head.

Author interview

First, tell me a little about your books…
Neiko’s Five Land Adventure: The Indians and the Crackedskulls are locked in war and presently in a stalemate. Eighteen-year-old Neiko bears the title of “Chosen One” helps lead the fight and seems nearly untouchable. Neiko’s archenemies King Raven and Prince Bloodhawk plan to fix that with the help of their mole Francesco. By using magic, Raven inadvertently opens the door to another universe, and an entity of ultimate evil comes through and targets Neiko. Later Neiko later discovers Quickstrike the scorpion-cobra in her bed and discovered a world she felt that she imagined is real. After a showdown, Neiko becomes trapped in Qari, one of the Five Lands. Neiko must find a way home and some how escape the traps and clutches of the Dark Pharaoh…

Escape from Ancient Egypt: Three years after Neiko’s first adventure in the Five Lands, Neiko becomes used to her three sided life. Now 21, she now lives in her own home, but still her life is far from normal. The Crackedskulls try an attack and ambush but suffer a devastating defeat. That same evening Francesco collects on his threat to make Neiko pay for exposing him three years earlier by sending her to Egypt about 3,000 years in the past during the reign of Ramesses II the Great. Upon her arrival in Memphis, it’s not too long before Neiko finds herself in trouble and captured by a rich man. She discovers what happened to her friends 11 years earlier. They escape and venture to Thebes in search of Sito, the brainiest of the group. Finding their friend is the least of their problems. After a showdown with the rich man, Neiko finds herself in the sights of another rich mystery man. Things unravel very quickly when they discover the mystery man is Pharaoh. Francesco is sent to find and bring Neiko back under the threat of death by Raven, but instead he finds another king to serve. He exposes Neiko, but then they know he has their ticket home. They must somehow find away out of this hot mess and back into the present!

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know? General interest in writing probably started upon introduction when I was 8 years old. I moved up to novels at 16. I did this to see if I could and as an experiment on myself. I taught myself how to write novels then by taking what I learned in language arts and from studying other books I’d read. I didn’t have any teachers and I didn’t know any writers. I’ve learned more stuff over time and picked up a few tidbits to hone my craft, but I’ve never attended a class. I was invited to a writer’s conference when I was 21, but I didn’t learn anything new except how to publish the traditional way. This was before self publishing was on the radar.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it? A lot of things. Books, movies, video games, music, art, nature, science, and my own adventures as a kid in the backyard and the woods all play a part in my inspiration. I just like separation from the norm and reality, so that is why I love fantasy and science fiction, but I love action and adventure as well!

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Parts of Neiko’s life as Amanda Hawk are based on my own life. The main event Neiko and I both share is the difficulty of laying down something that brings peace and comfort because of our age and because society say so while the world rages around us.

How do you chose when/which characters die in your books? It’s not really me who decides, it’s the other characters. Death is oftentimes a transition and sometimes an antagonist must die in order to be conquered. They won’t go down any other way.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? Mostly new friends I have met on Facebook, social media, and my new business. There are too many to name.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book? Not really as far as writing is concerned, but I wished I had discovered self publishing sooner and had access to the knowledge that I have now when I first started out.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Trying to limit unnecessary –ly adverbs, speaker tags, and words. Sometimes it’s the whole show vs tell thing and trying to adopt the new style of little or no exposition when all the stuff I read and taught myself with were the opposite.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre? I’ve always been an avid reader when I was able to go to the library, and I enjoy a plethora of genres. I am reading thrillers (several subgenres), mysteries, paranormal (not PNR), horror, adventure, fantasy (almost all subgenres), and science fiction. A few nonfiction in between.

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them? I did most of the design as far as the sketches and the schematic is concerned. The artist just puts it all together in a digital format that rocks. There is room for his/her creativity. It usually falls into place nicely!

Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it? Since I was so young when I did it, it was just that I could. I could do just about anything that I could put my mind to. At the time I didn’t realize what a huge accomplishment that was. I realized I was a pretty good self teacher—I had to teach myself a lot of things besides writing. A lot of times if my family or friends couldn’t teach me something, I had to learn it on my own because people just wouldn’t bother with me, and why that is, I don’t know. I didn’t have anyone teach me; I didn’t know anyone, and anyone I knew knew zip about writing novels. I didn’t go to a workshop or take a class if there were any around. I didn’t personally know any authors. I took what I knew from Language Arts and the patterns I saw from books and just sat down and put my fingers on the keyboards of my parents’ dinosaur computer. Neiko’s Five Land Adventure was being born, and then the series followed behind.

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose? I’m sorry, but I can choose just one :P. First choice would be Neiko. I just love her and we have so much in common. She does and gets to do things I dream of doing. My second choice is Quickstrike, the scorpion-cobra. It would just be fun to see people scream and hang on chandeliers and street lamps when they see me. I would be too big for a chair or a footstool to be sufficient.

Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because? Since this a good fantasy crowd I could recommend some of my friends! Books by Jonathan Gould (they’re funny and silly) and The Silver Sphere by Michael Dadich. If anyone hasn’t read Brian Jacques or Terry Brooks go check them out.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers? Thanks for stopping by! I hope to “see” you at my website/blog All my pages and newsletter are all there if you want to connect with me. I always look forward to meeting new people.

Lisa Ann Brown

Lisa Ann has been involved with storytelling and entertainment, in one form or another, her entire life. Beginning her creative journey as both a writer and an actor, Lisa Ann spent many years immersing herself in innumerable books, countless theatre productions and earning a degree in Musical Theatre. Shortly after college, she attended the Vancouver Film School to learn the finer points of screenwriting. This study culminated in the writing of a few feature length scripts and an overwhelmingly potent desire to move from Canada to Hollywood. Once ensconced in East Hollywood however, creative inspiration lured Lisa Ann away from screenwriting and returned her to her original writing intentions: to be a novelist. In three months, Lisa Ann had completed her first novel, I Raid, and there has been no cessation of her novel writing ever since. Moving back to Canada, she spent many years working as a talent agent in Vancouver before retiring from the film industry to focus on writing full-time. Lisa Ann derives great personal satisfaction by delivering her characters through the twisting arcs and unexpected tribulations of their imaginary lives. She strives to keep her readers on edge while enjoying the suspense and surprise of their literary journey. She resides in picturesque Vancouver, BC, Canada where she is happily nestled in between the Pacific Ocean and the Coastal Mountain range.

A few Goodies that needed reviews!

So, life is nuts sometimes, mine especially, with going back to college…. at now age 29. BOO to that! LOL but I have my reasons as everyone has their struggles with finances and life, and I’m still trying to work full time and deal with some other crazy issues! BUT, I have been meaning to post some reviews that I owed, not only to goodreads, which I did, BUT HERE, because I know most of you don’t stalk my goodreads page. I barely have time to stalk MY OWN goodreads page lately LOL SO! Here’s some excellent reviews that I thought you’d like to hear about. Thanks a bunch everyone!

Hex and the Single Witch (Vehicle City Vampires #1)

Anwyn Rose is descended from a long line of powerful witches yet she can barely cast spells young witchlings have mastered. She has one functioning witch gift, the power of knowing, which she puts to good use as a Detective on Flint’s Preternatural Investigation Team.

It’s a new era in Vehicle City, supernaturals are running the town.

The P.I.T has their hands full with paranormal crimes. Top priority is a serial killer, who appears to be a vampire, draining young women in the city.

Anwyn is on the case with her sexy partner Detective Mike Malone. Complicating things is her relationship with Galen, a vampire who looks more guilty than innocent, although Anwyn trusts her instincts even if her power is on the fritz.
Mysterious spells, compromising situations, and a possible demon on the loose make it hard to focus on the case, but Anwyn has to make things right before the human police execute the wrong vampire.

Hex and the Single Witch contains magick, a little bit of mystery, a lot of supernatural mayhem, and a sexy love triangle that will leave you wanting more.

Botching her assassination attempt, Annwyn has the most powerful Packs in the world biting at her heels. Both fiercely independent, can the two join forces long enough to fulfill their missions and stay alive?

Monster in My Closet (Monster Haven, #1)

Book 1 Blurb: I stopped believing in monsters long ago. But I knew I wasn’t imagining things when I found one in my kitchen baking muffins. I’d seen him before: lurking in my closet, scaring the crap out of my five-year-old self. Turns out that was a misunderstanding, and now Maurice needs a place to stay. How could I say no?

After all, I’ve always been a magnet for the emotionally needy, and not just in my work as a wedding planner. Being able to sense the feelings of others can be a major pain. Don’t get me wrong, I like helping people–and non-people. But this ability has turned me into a gourmet feast for an incubus, a demon that feeds off emotional energy. Now, brides are dropping dead all over town, and my home has become a safe house for the supernatural. I must learn to focus my powers and defeat the demon before he snacks on another innocent woman and comes looking for the main course…

Pooka in My Pantry (Monster Haven, #2)

Book 2 Blurb:  Zoey Donovan—empath, wedding planner, go-to girl for monsters with personal problems—has been marked twice for pickup by Death. On both occasions, Riley the smoking-hot reaper has refused to follow through. For his breach of protocol, Riley is now on probation. For her refusal to die on schedule, Zoey’s right to live is challenged. She will have to undergo a life-or-death trial, but she won’t know when or where it will happen…

Staying alive might not be so difficult if the Leprechaun Mafia hadn’t strolled into town. Now every business owner with the slightest connection to the supernatural community is being threatened with the most appalling bad luck if they don’t pay up. Mirrors are smashed, bodies are dropping, and Zoey’s still got clients waiting for fabric samples.

With a little luck, she might be able to save everyone and still have time for a second attempt at a decent first date with her favorite reaper.

Fairies in My Fireplace (Monster Haven, #3)

Book 3 Blurb: A migration of mythical creatures has begun, and more and more of them are landing on Zoey Donovan’s doorstep. As the only Aegis left in the country, it falls to her to protect the Hidden and keep them safe—and her house has become a sanctuary for water sprites, goblins, harpies, djinn and more.

Keeping track of her boarders is a full-time job, and Zoey’s already got her hands full trying to run her wedding planning business. Good thing she has a resident closet monster to keep her organized, and a hot Reaper boyfriend to help her relax every once in a while.

But she can’t keep up monster-triage indefinitely, and as more Hidden arrive, it becomes clear that someone—or something—is hunting them. In the midst of planning an event for a notoriously difficult client, Zoey’s got to figure out who’s behind the hunt…and she’s got to stop them before there are no Hidden left.

My 5 PAW review is HERE!

Seven Kinds of Hell (Fangborn, #1)

When archaeologist Zoe Miller’s cousin is abducted by a vicious Russian kidnapper, she must come to grips with a haunting secret. Unknown to even her closest friends, Zoe is not entirely human. She’s a werewolf and a daughter of the “Fangborn,” a hidden race of werewolves, vampires, and oracles.

Zoe’s attempt to rescue her cousin leads her on a quest for artifacts—including Pandora’s Box, an object of world-ending power. With the fate of humanity in the balance, Zoe will be forced to renew family ties and pit her own supernatural abilities against a dark and nefarious fo.

At once captivation, deftly worded, and character-rich Seven Kinds of Hell expands vampire legend and werewolf noir in both intensity and charismatic!

My 4 PAW review is HERE!

Full Blooded (Jessica McClain, #1)

Born the only female in an all male race, Jessica McClain isn’t just different—she’s feared.

After living under the radar for the last twenty-six years, Jessica is thrust unexpectedly into her first change, a full ten years late. She wakes up and finds she’s in the middle of a storm. Now that she’s become the only female full-blooded werewolf in town, the supernatural world is already clamoring to take a bite out of her and her new Pack must rise up and protect her.

But not everyone is on board. The werewolf Rights of Laws is missing text and the superstitious werewolves think that Jessica means an end to their race. It doesn’t help when Jessica begins to realize she’s more. She can change partway and hold her form, and speak directly to her wolf. But the biggest complication by far is that her alpha father can’t control her like he can the rest of his wolves.

When a mercenary who’s been hired by the vampires shows up to extract information about the newly turned werewolf only days after her change, they find themselves smack in the middle of a war and there’s no choice but to run together. When it’s up to Jessica to negotiate her release against her father’s direct orders, she chooses to take an offer for help instead. In exchange, Jessica must now swear an oath she may end up repaying with her life.

My 5 PAW review is HERE!

Hot Blooded (Jessica McClain, #2)

It hasn’t been the best week for Jessica McClain.

Her mate has been kidnapped by a Goddess hell-bent on revenge — but Jessica is playing for keeps.

Because she’s the only female werewolf in town…it comes with its own set of rules…and powers.

Aided by two vamps, two loyal Pack members, and one very reluctant human, Jessica must rescue her man while coming to terms with what being a wolf really means.

All in a day’s work for a girl.

The second novel in the Jessica McClain series is a full on action adventure featuring one angry Goddess and plenty of monsters, demons, and a few newly risen beasties…

Series: Dark Wolf #1
Expected Publication Date: Oct  15

Geneva “Neva” Ross doesn’t want to die. But now that she’s been turned into a werewolf against her will, she’ll do anything to protect her family and friends…even if that means taking her own life.

After witnessing Neva’s leap from a high ledge, Travis Williamson—a Changeling with a dark past—uses his powers to save her life. He feels a connection to the strong-willed woman whose eyes flash that familiar Changeling green. While Neva is hospitalized, Travis risks everything to kidnap her, knowing the approaching full moon will put everyone in jeopardy.

Bickering constantly to hide their growing attraction, Travis and Neva run from the authorities…and from Neva’s sinister sire, Meredith de la Ronde. Meredith delights in creating new shape-shifters and compelling them to do her dark bidding; now Neva must join Meredith’s murderous wolf pack…or die.

Intensely suspenseful with deliciously sexy twists, this paranormal romance—the first in (the title of series)—intertwines sensual passion with an epic, thrilling battle between good and evil.

My Review:

I always love werewolves… But I love them way more when they are written in a story this awesome!! It’s very quickly become on of my favorites and I can already tell you this series will be added to my must buy group! It’s just way too good not to. There’s definitely paranormal romance, but it’s also full of mystery, even with some mysteries left a little open for the next book, without a cliffhanger. It’s the perfect fight of good versus evil and you won’t believe when those plot twists happen, it’s so quick and wickedly smart your jaw will get stuck open!

Geneva aka Neva, starts on the literal first sentence as trying to kill herself to keep everyone around her safe. She knows after being forced to become a werewolf, and by the person who bites her, it’s all so shocking. Neva is very stubborn, she is downright crazy, and yet I love her. She’s loyal, even when it’s not called for, she’s sweet to those who don’t give her any reason to be, she’s strong when every single person tries to break her down. I almost didn’t like her… Lol when it started that she was gunna kill herself, I thought she had a good reason but I thought she’d be whiny- UM NO! She’s freaking crazy, and though she started out suicidal, she definitely fights tooth, nail, claw, hair, and paw to survive. She fights to make the good outweigh the bad that had become a way of life for some. I’m so very happy with her and her ending!

Travis is your ultimate broken beautiful bad boy! You know, if I were him, after like the tenth time Neva was ugly, or the second or third time she tried to run away, I would have let her LOL!! When Neva finally listens to him, Travis starts to open up, and though he has flaws, he’s an excellent match for Neva. They balance out each other. He frowns and broods, she pouts and challenges him in every way. Their conversations made me giggle.

I am hoping to learn more. More about the villain, more about her “army” more about Riley and Baker, more about them all! I can’t wait for more of this story. I loved the writing. I loved the story. This is the perfect paranormal romance especially with enough action that I was glued to it! I can’t wait for book two!! I also now need to read more by this author! 🙂 5 BLOSSOMING BEAUTIFUL WOLFY PAWS!!

Breaking Glass
Breaking Glass ~ Lisa Amowitz
Young Adult Fiction
Spencer Hill Press, July 2013
ISBN: 978-1937053383
On the night seventeen-year-old Jeremy Glass winds up in the hospital with a broken leg and a blood alcohol level well above the legal limit, his secret crush, Susannah, disappears. When he begins receiving messages from her from beyond the grave, he’s not sure whether they’re real or if he’s losing his grip on reality. Clue by clue, he gets closer to unraveling the mystery, and soon realizes he must discover the truth or become the next victim himself.
Available at:
“Jeremy’s story is gritty and suspenseful, and at times downright spooky, but his intelligence, tenacity and quick, sarcastic sense of humor brightens the darker moments. The novel is also about hope and a young man who prevails in the face of insurmountable challeges. BREAKING GLASS is an impressive debut from Lisa Amowitz.”

Author bio:
Lisa Amowitz was born in Queens and raised in the wilds of Long Island, New York where she climbed trees, thought small creatures lived under rocks and studied ant hills. And drew. A lot. She is a professor of Graphic Design at her beloved Bronx Community College where she has been tormenting and cajoling students for nearly seventeen years. She started writing eight years ago because she wanted something to illustrate, but somehow, instead ended up writing YA. Probably because her mind is too dark and twisted for small children. Lisa is represented by Shannon Hassan of Marsal-Lyon Literary Agency.
BREAKING GLASS, released in July, 2013 from Spencer Hill Press, is her first published work. VISION, the first of the Finder series will be released in 2014.
