AND it’s sequel will be out this year too!!! I NEED that book now that I’ve read this one!

White Hot Kiss

ABOUT WHITE HOT KISS:

One kiss could be the last.

Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she’s anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.

Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she’s crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she’s not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she’s the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

EXCERPT:

“I don’t think of Zayne that way!”

She laughed. “What man-parts-loving female in this world doesn’t think of Zayne that

way? I can barely keep myself breathing when I see him. All the guys in school have squishy

waists. I can tell Zayne doesn’t. He’s the awesome sauce with extra sauce.”

That he was and he so didn’t have a squishy waist, but I tuned Stacey out at that point. I

really did need to cram for this test and I also didn’t want my fantasies involving Zayne to

occupy my mind right now. Especially after I’d woken up this morning, carefully tucked under

the covers. The bed had smelled like him: sandalwood and crisp linen.

“Oh, sweet baby Jesus in a manger,” Stacey murmured.

I clenched my jaw, cupping my hands over my ears.

She jabbed me in the side with her elbow. At this rate I’d be covered in bruises before

lunchtime. “Our bio class just got a billion times more interesting. And hotter, lots and lots

hotter. Holy mother, I want to have his babies. Not now of course, but definitely later. But I’d

like to start practicing soon.”

The cell wall is a thick and rigid layer covering the plasma something, something plant

cells…

Stacey stiffened all of a sudden. “Oh my God, he’s coming—”

Composed of fat and sugar—

Something slender and shiny fell from who knew where, landing in the middle of Sam’s

notes. Blinking tightly, it took me a couple of seconds to recognize the faded and half peeled

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sticker covering the back of the silver cell phone.

My heart slammed against my ribs. Gripping the edges of the notebook, I slowly lifted

my gaze. Unnaturally beautiful golden eyes met mine.

“You forgot this last night.”

My Review:

It’s official. I am sold and will now be obsessed with this series and this author! This book is the start of an all new series that will have you salivating for more! And I really am all about demons, but adding Gargoyles– BRILLIANT!!! This is a very fresh, new start to something great with a wonderful plot twist to have everyone wanting more!

So, Layla is our lovely main character. She’s half demon and half gargoyle. She lives with the Wardens, the elite fighters of gargoyles who keep the demons in check on Earth, and are led by the Alphas, which I am pretty sure are Archangels, but I’m still a little unsure as it’s part of the mystery.  She is raised by the leader after she was found at an orphanage as a child. She is also in love, or maybe lust, with the leader’s son, Zayne. He’s perfect and he really is. But nothing is ever simple, and I’ll get to him in a minute! Layla is strong, but she is now starting to question everything she’s ever know when one of their own goes after her. And then she begins finding out some of her past, and I was blown away by this plot twist. I loved her tenacity to try to be, do, and act the right way.  I don’t think I could live like that, and I am glad Layla is figuring out all of this now. AND I’m really glad she is figuring out that maybe Zayne isn’t who she really loves, because Roth is making her question that too.

Zayne is totally the perfect guy. He’s thoughtful and caring, and protective, and goes out of his way to make sure Layla has what she needs. He’s the perfect boy next door. Roth is just as gorgeous, but he’s the perfect bad boy, being a demon and all. He also protects Layla, and he’s thoughtful, though he does love to make her pulse race and totally seduces her every second he gets LOL And, just because Zayne is a Warden doesn’t make him better than Roth. And the other way around. I believe they both love Layla, in their own ways, but we will have to see what will happen. I can’t believe I’ve ever been so completely torn between two male figures. Don’t get me wrong, I like love triangles but this one, I want them both! Like I wanna be greedy and have them both in my pocket like yesterday! I kept saying that I was Team Zayne then Team Roth, and I went back and forth so many times that I am all about both right now. Seriously, like screw all the laws and religious taboos, I want them BOTH! 🙂 Maybe I’ll have to go through Layla first, but it may be worth it 🙂

The world building is fantastic, because it’s mostly real. Gargoyles are out in the open, but no one knows about the demons and why the Gargoyles are around. And that just makes it so interesting. And there are perfect secondary characters, like her best friend, and the one Warden who seems to really look out for Layla, other than Zayne, and the other demons along the way. And veto all the religious reasons, this has it’s own story, and it’s all about love in the past, maybe twisted love, but all the same 🙂

AND hot damn if the author doesn’t leave me with a completely shocked, jaw hanging, heart wrenching moment. I think everyone is going to chose a Team at the end, I kinda did, but I will NOT spoil anything. I am going to say that the writing is magical. Just flawless. I now know why every single one of my blogger friends is so completely obsessed with this author. AND I am now on the band wagon, I am all about Ms Armentrout.  In for a penny, in for a pound, and I’m in for 20 pounds 🙂 5 AMAZING, PHENOMENAL, DEMON FIRE, GARGOYLE WING PAWS!!
