Book Description

An invisible wall built from the tears of those touched by death

An impossible love as divided as the world around them.

After Addison finds a nearly-dusted vampire in the garbage outside her building, her ability to stay off the supernatural world’s radar is deader than the vamp. Almost as dead as she’ll be if anyone thinks she put him there. Should she finish the job somebody else screwed up or move him somewhere humans won’t find him? To keep the Heights hidden, she may have shoved a stake into her own chest. Just when she thinks her life couldn’t possibly get any more dangerous, she finds out who he is.

As vampire king and Prime to all supernatural beings in the North American zone, Rhyse is accustomed to getting what he wants without asking. But he neither wanted nor asked to be wounded in an ambush, waking up chained to a bed with a hole in his chest. Unfortunately, he needs help to discover who tried to kill him. But worse than that, his only ally is his captor, someone unaware she has the power to destroy their entire world.

As a prophesized war brews in the Heights, Addison and Rhyse must decide which carries more risk—trusting someone who could destroy you or trusting someone who could love you?

Addison backed up until she hit the counter. It was over. It had been over ever since those chains came off. Ever since she brought him into her apartment. Into her life.

“I saved you. I could’ve left you outside until the sun came up.”

“I imagine you wish you had.”

“Can you…can you not kill me? Just take some, but not all?”

Rhyse brushed her hair behind her shoulder and curled his fingers around the nape of her neck, whispering, “Do you trust me that much?”

“I don’t even trust you a little.” She felt the sting of tears. “I don’t want to be turned. If you drain me, let me die.”

He ran his other hand up her shoulder, to her throat and slowly closed his fingers around it. One move and her neck would break. “To drain you I would have to drink from you. And that, my pet, I will not do.”

She didn’t know what he meant but now seemed like a bad time to argue.

“Did you know what you are? How many of you exist?”

She didn’t answer. Partially because speaking required the air he was cutting off. Then his hands were gone, just like the rest of him.

Was it over?

When one of the women behind the counter moaned, Addison went to make sure they were alright.

Rhyse was on top of one of them, his fangs obviously burrowed in her neck. The woman moaned again, her legs wrapping around him. One hand clutched his shoulder and the other slapped the wall, searching for a hold.

It had to have been shock that made it impossible to look away. Or run away. The woman’s moans got louder, then crested, and her body went limp. Not in a dead way, but in an I-just-had-the-best-orgasm-of-my-life way.

Get out of here.

“Leave and they will die.” His voice stopped her after only two steps. “Stay and they will wake up from a very pleasant, very erotic dream.”

She grinded her teeth when she heard another moan. He must have moved on to the other woman. With two to feed from, there was less of a chance he would drain them, but… “Why should I trust you?”

The woman’s moans stopped and she whined, “No.”

“I do not care if you trust me,” he said. “Only that you obey me.”

“Fuck you.” But she didn’t move. “Are they alive?”

“Of course. It is against the law to kill humans.”

“Then let me go.”

“You are not human, Addison.” His voice came from just over her shoulder.

“I am. I promise. Totally human.” Somehow he’d missed the fact that seers were human, despite her telling him at least five times.

She heard the shuffling of fabric and looked down to see him wrapping his already-bloody shirt around the arm she’d cut. He tied a knot with the sleeves and pulled it tight. There was no part of this that she understood.

She sucked in a breath when he put his hands on her hipbones. Then another as they slid to her belly and down, pressing her back into him. She felt his heat and a vibration on her back as he made a sound similar to a cat’s purr but scarier. Clenching her eyes shut, she waited for death.

“You should thank them.” His voice was all sex. Dangerous, risky, awesome sex. “They just saved your life.”

They did? “Thank you,” she called out with a shaking voice. “Now that your belly’s full, how about you back off a little?”

“I should kill you, Addison.”

“I’m going to have to disagree with you about that.”

After a moment he stepped away, sighing as if he just made a really tough decision and wasn’t sure it was the right one.

“So,” she said, heading for the door, “it seems like you’re feeling better which is great. I’m really happy for you. Since you don’t need me anymore, I’m gonna go now. I’ll see you around.”

“Come to me, Addison.” His eyes were back to their original inhumanly beautiful color. Though he didn’t quite look calm, he looked satisfied.

“Come to me or I will snap your neck.”

“If you had simply brought a human to me, this all could have been avoided.”

“I was just thinking the same thing.” Total lie—she wasn’t thinking a goddamn thing besides, “Shiiiiit!”

“You and I have things to discuss, and a few memories to alter along the way back to your home.”

Damn it on many counts. “Alter or wipe?”

“Alter, of course. Although my strength has returned, wiping that many minds would still be highly taxing. I prefer to save my power for other activities.”

Like…? Nah, she didn’t want to know.

He opened the door and gestured for her to go first. Which he’d probably never done before. Minions opened doors for him and she doubted chivalry ranked high on his list of valuable traits. But she went because when you gotta go, you gotta go.

“Did you know?” he asked.

What was it with that question? “Know what? That your victims come while you feed? Yeah, I heard it happens occasionally.”

“Always. They always come while I feed. If it were possible, I would show you.”

“I just heard more proof than I wanted to, thanks.”

“I have no doubt that it would be far more enjoyable to feel you come than to hear her do it.”

 My Review

Shall we talk about the fact that even I like the vamper in here. DAMMIT! I hate when that happens hahahaha 🙂 No seriously. This is an amazing start to a new series. It’s fantastic wrapped up in a side of bacon. Yep, we get food analogies again 🙂 It was that good. I could not put it down, I could not let go, and even though I didn’t know what was going to come, my heart broke when it did. This one is going to cause some emotions to run high for a lot of you. And it’ll make you grab your seat and hold on for dear life, while you scream and cheer and get all crazy!

Ok, our main lady is Addison, who is stuck. She’s stuck being a pawn for the vampires. They suck, pun intended. And it’s not just vampers, there’s all kind of supernatural characters in here. So what happened is that all the “higher” races, the shifters, vamps, etc., now run things, and “seers” like Addy are the bottom of the totem pole. Now, let me explain, and no it’s not a spoiler because it’s told right in the beginning. A “seer” is not magical, they are the humans who have the ability to “SEE” those more than human. So the big wigs decided to round up all those seers and make them their slaves basically. Bully for them, as I will not invest in Addy’s dusting powder and some serious stakes to carry around 🙂 Anyways, back to Addy, who is really cool. She isn’t kick ass in the beginning, but becomes awesome. She starts as a disposer, you know, those who “dispose” of the bodies before the humans see things. And she accidentally finds a big vamper dying in her trash and she is seriously stuck with him. Well, she learns some things, he learns some things, and hot damn we have some serious tension going on, as well as some serious line crossing. She is brave, and courageous, and caring, and loyal, and a little nuts, and willing to sacrifice herself to help others. She’s my new hero, though I don’t think I wanna hang out with her, because she has some scary people floating around. And people like to make her bleed, alot. 🙂

And then there’s Rhyse. Well big bad kind vamper has a little tiny human who’s gunna knock him on his ass. It was AWESOME!!! 🙂 And, not to mention in the beginning, he wants to kill her, and eat her, and by then end, he wants to keep her and love her. Let me just say that this book has the best romance plot line. I’m normally allergic to that part, LOL, BUT, this author made that vampire work so damn hard to get her, only he doesn’t in the way he wants. There’s no love at first site, OMG I am gunna fall over myself to be with him. His powers of persuasion don’t work on her, and she has a power over him that’s gunna blow his mind. It’s a back and forth, and most of the time, I swore they were gunna kill each other. It was definitely one of the best anticipations I’ve read in a very long time.

Ok, the world building is probably the best I’ve read in a while, because it’s not just your modern day world, but the way the others govern themselves, and the way things fall, and how the humans really don’t know about it all. It’s amazing, and it’s complex, and it’s so enriching. It’s definitely a cool place to be in. And of course there’s like 80 twists that will blow your mind. Every time I would think something normal would happen, BAM, there’s another twist that makes me yell or drop my jaw. Seriously, the ending made me cry, because I felt HORRIBLE. But I understand. Yep, be prepared for a thorough jaw dropping scenario. And not to mention, cold heartless vampires get a heart, bitter, crazy girls gain a vampire as well as something that can’t be said due to spoilers, and her best friend gains his life, which I cheered for the entire book. I totally thought her bestie Logan wouldn’t get to see something great! So, if haven’t given you at least SOMETHING that sounds interesting, than you suck like the vampers. We can’t be friends anymore. LOL 🙂 Seriously, I am routing for this one, and I will be the first to get my paws on book two, no matter who I have to bribe LOL 🙂 5 AMAZING, FANTG-TASTIC, BLOODY WOLFY PAWS! PS, Ms Stewart could you give me a nice little wolfy in book two, maybe Noah has a friend LOL 🙂

I killed a girl last night. I did it with my bare hands and an old piece of pipe I found lying next to the dumpster. But that’s not the part that got me. The part that scared me, the part I can’t seem to wrap my head around and still has me reeling, was that when she charged me, her body shifted – and then she was a wolf. All snapping teeth and extended claws. But by the time I stood over her lifeless body, she was a girl again. That’s about the time I went into shock… And that was the moment he showed up.

Now, all I can do is accept the truths that are staring me in the face. One, Werewolves do exist. And Two, I was born to kill them.

Two Seattle 16-year-olds, Jatred and Jasmira, are not your typical star-crossed lovers. They are not even your typical Shape Shifters. Sure, they try to live an ordinary life. At least, as ordinary as the Prince and the Princess of the rivaling ancient Races–the Winter wolves and the Summer leopards–can live. But eventually they learn that not much about their existence can be normal. Especially when the Races’ two commanding Goddesses are involved.

One of the Goddesses is on a quest to tilt the scale of power to her side. The other will never let it happen, even if it means kicking Jatred and Jasmira’s love to the curb. Nothing is off limits, including removing Jatred’s memories of Jasmira.

To complicate things even more, there are the Universe’s powers to consider. They are trapped in an ancient Amulet in order to protect the stability of the world. But the Universe has a mind of its own, and when the powers are unleashed, the forces of nature are disturbed; earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions shake the Earth. All Shifters of both Races are summoned by their respective Goddesses to fight in the name of, or against, the normalcy of the world.

Book Description:

When recently-deceased Irene Dunphy decided to “follow the light,” she thought she’d end up in Heaven or Hell and her journey would be over.

Boy, was she wrong.

She soon finds that “the other side” isn’t a final destination but a kind of purgatory where billions of spirits are stuck, with no way to move forward or back. Even worse, deranged phantoms known as “Hungry Ghosts” stalk the dead, intent on destroying them. The only way out is for Irene to forget her life on earth—including the boy who risked everything to help her cross over—which she’s not about to do.

As Irene desperately searches for an alternative, help unexpectedly comes in the unlikeliest of forms: a twelfth-century Spanish knight and a nineteenth-century American cowboy. Even more surprising, one offers a chance for redemption; the other, love. Unfortunately, she won’t be able to have either if she can’t find a way to escape the hellish limbo where they’re all trapped.

Author Guest Post

A Horse in the Afterlife

Hello everyone! I am so, so, so excited to be back visiting Maghon’s blog and all her fabulous readers! I always have the best time when I visit with you, and I saved this blog post especially for Maghon. J Today, I’m here to talk a bit about my newest book, Thereafter, the second book in my Afterlife series. I wanted to share with you my absolute favoritest (it’s a word!) scene from Thereafter.

Her hand touched a rock, one of the flat beach stones she’d seen on graves. She picked it up, laying it flat in her palm. She didn’t remember picking this up. In fact, she had been careful not to take any. It had seemed disrespectful and too much like stealing to remove them, and while she’d seen a few here—both loose and piled in cairns—she hadn’t picked any of them up. There had been no point. What would she do with a rock?

No wonder her bag was so heavy.

She tossed the rock over her shoulder and heard it hit the ground with a satisfying thud some distance away. It felt good to be rid of something, to make a decision and be sure it was the right one.

She surveyed the pile again and then grabbed a small handful of paper animals. She picked one up between a finger and thumb. It was a horse. Irene had been in Chinatown during Chinese Ghost Festival, a holiday in which the living left offerings for the dead. These offerings included paper replicas of things people thought the dead would need in the afterlife—money, clothes, television sets, and even animals. Irene had admired the precise and delicate folds of the Origami figures and had picked some up to admire them more closely. Without thinking, she had dropped them into her bag and apparently been carrying them ever since.

Well, even Jonah couldn’t argue with her on this—there was no way she was going to need a paper horse on her journey through the afterlife. Plus, these didn’t hold any sentimental value. She cast the horse onto a nearby fire and watched as the paper curled and blackened in the low-burning flames.

The fire leapt and seemed to glow blue for a moment. Irene tensed—what was happening?

Thick black smoke began to rise slowly from the flames, spiraling upward in a thickening column. The smoke grew denser and then elongated sideways. Irene leapt to her feet and backed away, her heart pounding. Something was forming in the fire.

The smoke was taking shape now; there was purpose and design in its movements. She could see a long, horizontal back, four legs, a neck, and finally a head and a tail. The smoke swirled with a final flourish and then shuddered into the solidity of a smoke-colored horse. The animal blinked passively. Then it violently shook its head, blew out a breath, and delicately picked its way forward out of the fire. It immediately put its head down and began to lip the ground, looking for food.

Irene stared stupidly at it. “Are you shitting me?”

Irene gets a horse!  😉

I have long been fascinated with the Chinese custom of sending gifts to the dead by burning paper effigies of those things, such as paper money known as “ghost money.” Apparently, there is an entire market for these paper “ghost” items, and I even read an article not too long ago about the inflation that has affected the price of ghost items because of an increase in “high-end” ghost items—paper televisions, cell phones, and the like!

I’ve always thought this was an interesting custom to begin with, but when I started writing the Afterlife series, I knew this custom would play a central part of my story. In the series, all the afterlife myths are actually true. In this case, burning paper items would really send them to the dead. I actually planned this scene from even before I wrote Hereafter, the first book of the series; that is, I planned for Irene to acquire the paper horse in Book #1, knowing that it would turn into a real horse in Book #2 (one of the reasons this is my favorite scene in the book is because I’m actually pretty proud of the fact I managed to plan this whole bit out across books so well). In Hereafter, there is very purposely a scene where Irene picks up a bunch of “ghost items” during Chinese Ghost Festival in Boston’s Chinatown. The scene is interesting but doesn’t seem to really have much of a purpose; only, it does! Irene and the reader just don’t know it yet. The importance of that scene isn’t revealed until Book #2 in the scene I shared above. The next big question, of course, is what other paper items did Irene acquire during Ghost Festival and how might they come into play in later books? 🙂

Now, I could have had Irene acquire any kind of animal, but I knew I wanted it to be a horse precisely because Irene would be horrified. She’s a city girl and a horse is the last thing she knows how to deal with. Well, and because…HORSE! 🙂 I love horses and since I don’t have a real one of my own, by writing one into the story I could at least have one virtually.

Irene stared at the horse. After a moment, she crept forward, ready to run if the horse decided to attack her. It lifted its head, watching her with a wary eye, and then returned to nibbling the ground.

Irene poked its shoulder. The horse snorted, shook its head, and moved a few steps away.

Okay, so not a hallucination, either.

She frowned and bit her lip, at a loss as to what to do. The horse didn’t seem terribly interested in her, so she retreated back to the rock. Her eyes absently roamed over the pile of items from her bag, as if the answers she sought lay there.

Her gaze fell on the words “So You’re Dead” emblazoned on the cover of a thin black book. She snatched it up, dropping the paper items, all thoughts of the horse instantly shoved aside; she’d forgotten she had this. She’d gotten the snarky self-help book from Madame Majicka before leaving the land of the living—gone through a lot of trouble, in fact, to get it, including attempted breaking and entering.

She cracked the book open but was prevented from reading it by the sudden appearance of a large velvety nose in the middle of the page. The horse, apparently bored, had wandered closer and now stuck his nose in the middle of the book, sniffing wetly at it as though hoping it might be food.

Irene sprang up. “Shoo!” she cried, flapping the book at the horse. “Go on. Get away from me.” The horse snorted, put its head down and began nuzzling the pile of items from Irene’s bag. “Get!” she cried. “No! Bad! Bad horse! Sit! Stay! Uh…” She flailed wildly, at a loss what to do. She was a city girl—what the hell did she know about horses?

The horse responded by sticking its nose into her hand and snuffling, leaving a trail of thin, clear snot behind.

“Ugh!” she cried, wiping her hand on its neck. “God, you’re a disgusting creature. Get! Yuck! Go on!” The horse was unperturbed by the chastisement and wandered off with a flick of its tail to graze a few feet away.

Anyone who has spent any time around horses knows how very typical of a horse this scene is. 🙂 But we love them anyway, right? Even when they slobbering and wipe snot on us. 🙂

And so there you have it—a pet horse in the afterlife. The last thing I’ll say about the horse is that anyone who has read my books knows that I put a lot of hidden puns and jokes into them. How many of you know what the joke here is?

Irene looked at the horse, which was hanging back, gazing at her with a hopeful look. Irene sighed. “Come on, Trigger,” she said, sarcastically calling it the only horse name she knew, and even that one she wasn’t sure about—was Trigger the Lone Ranger’s horse or John Wayne’s?

Maghon says THANK YOU for letting me be special!! 🙂

My Review

Ok, I am going to say that I am still not a major fan of Irene, she is still a bitch, just different LOL and dead. 🙂 She’s not fighting the dead part anymore. But that doesn’t mean I don’t like the book. Not everyone likes every main character, and I think that’s what makes this series so fascinating. Most of the time when we love a book, it’s a lot of us loving the characters, and then we just follow their adventure along the way. Well, Irene is someone I want to punch in the face, hard, alot, and then gag her so she can’t even open her mouth HAHAHAHAHA And oddly, I know people just like her. Which is the other thing, she is so damn flawed that she’s real. She is a very believable character. You will know people exactly like her in your real life.

So, in the first book, which is mainly Irene first trying to prove that she’s not dead, then trying to figure out what to do about it. This one is she now knows she’s dead, and she needs to figure out how to get out of  this stuck place. And it’s going to cost her. Irene still thinks she can bully her way to getting what she wants. When she figures that won’t work, she’s going to hard ball it. LOL She’s still a very ungrateful, sometimes mean, very vain, and angry. She is seriously angry. I’ma have to send her some of my food, maybe she’ll shut up while she eats hahahaha She definitely wasn’t expecting what she got here.

The two guys in here, I feel a little for them. They kind of treated her like a princess, and that seriously made her think she could treat them badly. And she still has a drinking problem hahahaha. Andras is different. He’s old fashioned, and doesn’t get the modern thing, and is very stuck back in the day. And he still follows her, even though they don’t seem like they like each other much. Ian, well, I don’t like Ian, and I think Irene is STUPID STUPID STUPID for her choices with him. Boy oh boy, let me just say that she has terrible choice in picking men. I don’t wanna give away spoilers. LOL. And though he seemed like the nice guy, he wasn’t.

Now as for the story line, I think it’s completely cool how in the first book she delves into all the ways people honor their dead, and the significance it has on the afterlife. In this one, she finally, seriously it took her forever, realizes she could help so many people’s suffering. And thought she bitterly does help, it feels like she was so mad about it. But she encounters so many people in the “dead” and I think I understand why so many of them are angry like her. They are stuck, and have everything they’ve ever known taken from them, and they can’t even reach the peace they need in death. I loved this part, because it’s such a unique view on the afterlife. The world building is fantastic, and if you took out me not liking Irene, the writing is great. It’s amazing how much research was put into this to have all the different culture takes. And it definitely has the gothic gloomy feeling about being ghostly as you read.  It’s quite an interesting thing, and I will say, I do hope after all this, in the next book, Irene gets her act together and starts acting like a person. LOL Seriously, if she’d just shut up and stop throwing around child like temper tantrums, she’d be a very interesting character. But I think that’s the point. Who wants to be happy about being dead and stuck. So I’m looking forward to seeing where this will go in the next book. 4 CREEPY GHOSTLY PAWS!!

Hereafter (Afterlife #1) by Terri Bruce

369 pages
ISBN13  9780991303601
Why let a little thing like dying get in the way of a good time?
Thirty-six-year-old Irene Dunphy didn’t plan on dying any time soon, but that’s exactly what happens when she makes the mistake of getting behind the wheel after a night bar-hopping with friends. She finds herself stranded on earth as a ghost, where the food has no taste, the alcohol doesn’t get you drunk, and the sex…well, let’s just say “don’t bother.” To make matters worse, the only person who can see her—courtesy of a book he found in his school library—is a fourteen-year-old boy genius obsessed with the afterlife. Unfortunately, what waits in the Great Beyond isn’t much better. Stuck between the boring life of a ghost in this world and the terrifying prospect of three-headed hell hounds, final judgment, and eternal torment in the next, Irene sets out to find a third option—preferably one that involves not being dead anymore. Can she wipe the slate clean and get a second chance before it’s too late?
My Review
Well, this one is very unique. And let me say right up front that I seriously do not like the main character, but I actually really like the story. 🙂 This one takes you on a journey about all the different aspects people and cultures have for the afterlife. What really happens to you when you die? The amount of effort and research put into here was amazing. I learned so many things. It really does make you think.
So Irene is a bitch, times 5, with really stupid decision making skills and a totally alcohol problem to go with it. So, when she literally kills herself on accident, I say it like that because if you are stupid enough to drive around that drunk, and you know better, you chose to do that to yourself. 🙂 Yes, yes, I know, I’m harsh, but wait til you meet Irene LOL. Irene causes me to have anger issues, because I want to cause her violence. She doesn’t know she’s dead, so she causes crap, like mean poltergeist things. Then when she meets a young boy who can see her, and tries to help her, by God she is the meanest woman on earth to him. Seriously, he was just trying to help, and many times, I wanted to stab her in the eye with an unsharpened pencil. Badly. I was hoping after all he did for her, poor Jonah, she would turn into the nice lady…. Yeah no, that doesn’t happen. But anyways. Irene finally realizes that she’s good and dead. Really dead. And then she’s stuck here, and needs to figure out what’s next. She doesn’t want to be stuck here, so she decides to find “the light” or the “tunnel” or something to get her onto the next plane, like say Heaven. She drags poor Jonah around making him help her, meanly hahahaha.

Jonah is quite a child. He’s full of information, and his fascination with afterlife and how each culture treats their dead. I wanted to beat up Irene for him. He still after all she does, help her. And continue to help her. He sacrifices for her. There are some other side characters, like her lovely dead neighbor, and the cool psychic who tries to help her. They definitely made the story lines fun!
The world building is cool because it’s the modern world, but there are a few little difference. I will be looking for blue glowy light 🙂 And though I don’t like Irene, I understand her a little. She had a good life, which she ruined, but still, and it was taken from her, and she can still hear, and see, and be present for things, but can’t “be” with them. She can’t have her house, or her things, or her conversations, nothing. And though she was rude in her alive life, it’s only made it worse which has left her bitter, angry, and ugly, and now she wants out. The writing is done very well. I actually liked where things went, and how the dead interacted with things and live people. It’s a unique great concept on the afterlife, and I hope for the next book Irene realizes how much she needs to get that giant boulder of a chip off her shoulder if she wants anything good to happen. 4 GHOSTLY PAWS!

 My Review:

Well shit! The good guys are turning bad, the bad guys are turning good, and hot damn if I’m not totally stunned at this one. It’s all coming. I know book 4 is going to be the last of this series, and my jaw is still hanging open with the ending. It’s not a cliff hanger per se, but woah, it’s close. You are going to be spinning after this one. I must say, even though the characters of book two were my favorite, the action, the fight scenes, the amazing emotional ride of this one may not be able to be topped. I am almost at a loss of words to say exactly how great this book is. So let me try not to spoil things and give you the goods.

So, Lorenna was taken by stupid Feoran. Yes I will call him stupid, because the path of good intentions still leads to hell! But I’ll save that for later. Anyways, Lorenna is trying her hardest to escape and get back to her friends. She knows she’s needed, but it’s almost impossible. And she almost makes it, twice. And then, Feoran is almost nice to her. And then he is nice to her. And then he spills his guts about why he did all those things he did, and what he wants, and then I am just dumbfounded. She’s a strong woman, and a powerful witch, and I’m still a little bit disappointed, because I need him to suffer, but you really can’t help who you fall in love with right? And all I gotta say is he has a whole HEAP LOAD of forgiveness begging to do. And a whole lot of people’s lost lives to make up for. But Lorenna sure makes him work hard, and she sure puts him in his place when he goes all scary. I admire her a little bit, cuz I woulda peed my pants if he came at me like he did her, and she doesn’t back down. And now, she’s going to get him to help them all stop the Clan from their evil.

Feoran just confuses me. He’s created monsters, literally, and I know why he did it now, and I almost want to take his side. He is a bad guy, but you almost wanna love him like a good guy. He’s smart, and insightful, and loyal, and he’s willing to fight for what he needs or wants. And now, he’s placed his trust and heart in Lorenna’s hands. It’s a very interesting turn of events LOL. And he also now has much bigger worries than that with the Clan having release a very powerful thing. And like I said, good guys are turning bad, and this is a huge blow to the resistance. And they need all the help they can get to over come this horrible event and take down the bad guys. Yes I have to say good guys and bad guys because people keep changing their minds hahahaha!

This one will definitely keep you on your toes, will definitely make you cry, as some major players  won’t make it to see book 4. You will also see some people just can’t be trusted, no matter what they say or do. And some people’s hatred goes far beyond anything repairable. And once a bad guy, always a bad guy, no matter what. Hmm, I just can’t wait to see what’s going to happen. Now that I know the author will kill people, I am terrified someone special to me is going to lose their lives. It’s totally stressing me out. 🙂 And the plow and writing in magnificent. It’s building to the perfect ending, and though I have no idea how it’s going to end, I just know that book 4 is gunna blow my mind, just as much, or more that this one did. Serious, I’m still tearing up. And saying bad words that are best not repeated. And still thinking that I’m not sure what I’m gunna do when this series ends, because it’s just so good! All I can say is WELL DONE! BRAVO!! MAGNIFICENT! 5 PAWS, like every kinda paw 🙂

Keeper of Shadows, book 2

Keeper Of Shadows

The year is 2038.

Feoran has followed through on his promise to enslave humanity, and humanity is being crushed under his oppression. Anyone who rebels is sent to the Factory.

Until one woman, Psyche Tawton, decides to run.
And she will prove his undoing.

Psyche leads an everyday life—well, for someone alive in the era of the Clan’s long shadow. A single event involving her best friend and her friends’ vampire master puts her on a road to rebellion, causing a ripple that will change the course of history, and the lives of those she comes into contact with.

Then she meets Torolf.

A werewolf with a chequered past, Torolf is instantly intrigued when he lays eyes on the violet-eyed beauty, but the wolf within him cannot accept a human as his mate. But deciding whether they should give in to their desires is the least of their troubles, as Feoran sets them firmly in his sights and makes them the centrefold for his newest horrific campaign. Starting with her best friend sent over to the Factory.

With the help of Torolf, the other immortals, and the Human Rebellion, Psyche will be the catalyst for the most important change in human history since the Clan took over. But she will also be the catalyst for her own fate, unlocking a secret about herself that is so destructive…

…it may kill her.

My Review
Let’s start with the fact that I phenomenally loved book one, but this one is my favorite, and I’m writing this review after book three, and it’s still my favorite so far. Alot of that has to do with Torolf being a very sexy, very awesome werewolf. 🙂 Another is the fact that Psyche has had a really rough life and she is very willing to stand up for herself, her friends, and fight back. She’s been the best heroine so far. 🙂 But now. Let me also say that this book takes place 20-25 years after the first book, the war has devastated everything, and it’s a dystopian world of things no longer the same. It was done so very well. You get to see what actually happened as a result of the war to everyone, the humans, the immortals, and all the crap those damn vampers have caused. 🙂 LOL high five for the vampers being the bad guys… except they don’t all stay that way. hahaha I know, me and my vampire aversion. Don’t fret, there’s some lovely vampires on the good guys team.
Now, let’s start with Psyche. She’s a young woman, who works so hard. She watched the vampires kill her parents in front of her eyes to keep her in line all these years. Except now, she’s had enough, and when her best friend gets into trouble, she’s willing to try to find a way to help her. And boy oh boy, does she become the most wanted kind in the land. 🙂 But she is found by Torolf before the big bad vamps can skewer her alive. And that’s where the fun begins. You know she’s scared, but yet she still is willing to put up a fight against him, and tell him things that will piss him off, even when she knows he could snap her neck in less than a second. I love her spunk, and sometimes, she’s a little too spunky getting herself into trouble, but it’s what makes her, her. She’s been one of the best additions to the series and I am seriously hoping she gets to do some serious damage with her little “specialty”.
Torolf is still helping Aodan and the rest of the immortals, who are part of the “resistance” and when he stumbles across Psyche running for her life, he decides to help. And then also figures out that she’s his mate, and he’s all about fighting that part at first, but then he came to his senses later. LOL And he’s willing to fight for his life, not just for the others now, but for Psyche too. And he’s going to help her help her friend. He wants to “Clan” to lose their reign of terror, and with Psyche on their side, things are looking up.
You still get to see the characters from book one, and now there’s some new ones there too as well. You’ll meet some extra cool humans who are part of the resistance, you’ll meet some crazy ass vampires who I hope die extremely painfully, and you’ll get to see the inner workings of the Clan and their terror of the humans. Boy was this one a thrill ride. I kept thinking I knew where it was going, and then I’d be surprised, or speechless in shock. LOL And the writing is fantastic. I started on page one, and the next thing I knew, I was finished because I couldn’t put this one down.  And I had a big shock at the end of book one, and a few heart attacks in between. Damn it if Ms Stork doesn’t like to put her characters through some pain before we can have a little break. 🙂 This one is fantastic and I can’t wait to jump into more. I know I have to wait a little while before book 4 comes out, and book three will completely blow your mind, so I recommend you go for it, and start reading this series!!! Of course this one gets wolfy paws, but we can’t forget the witches, and vamps, and demons, goddesses, and scary monsters too… But 5 AWESOME AWE INSPIRING WOLFY PAWS it’s going to be for me 🙂

Soundtrack from the author 🙂 Which Maghon says is AWESOME AGAIN!!!
1. When I started writing Keeper of Shadows, it opens on a pretty gloomy, desolate scene. This is the music I used for the intro, to get myself into the right frame of mind.
2. I continued on with looking into the main protagonist’s life, Psyche Tawton. It’s still kind of sad, and there’s a lot of heartbreak in it, so I then listened to this…
3. But Psyche isn’t all sadness and gloom – she’s a fighter, a strong, fiery woman who is willing to gain the freedom she know she deserves.
4. Then she meets Torolf – our male protagonist, and one hell of a sexy werewolf. He’s pretty rough around the edges, and he’s not afraid to let it show, but he hides an inner softie. 😉 But when he needs to protect Psyche, he doesn’t hold back…
5. And of course, we still have the villains – the vampires, otherwise known as The Clan. Feoran steps up his campaign of terror, and holds New London in his iron grip…
6. Things get weird when Psyche finds out she has a hidden talent (no spoilers here! Hehehe), that could potentially save everyone…
7. Eventually, Psyche and Torolf have a moment *waggles eyebrows*….YOU all know what I mean. Hehehe. But it’s more passionate than tender, so here’s the music I had on while typing it out… (warning: this is kind of a rude song. you’ve been warned! 😛 )
8. Without giving anything away….there’s another exciting battle scene towards the end. This one had to really pull some punches, as Feoran is so much stronger than anyone else they’ve gone up against…
9. And of course, it ends on another cliff-hanger! Sorry, guys, had to be done. 🙂 But someone in their inner circle gets kidnapped by the vampires – I know, right?! So here’s what I’m choosing to end this playlist on. Thanks for having me, Maghon! 😀
Vigilate of Shadows book 1
Vigilante of Shadows (Novel 1 of The Scarlet Rain Series)
Aodhan clutched uselessly at his head, groaning. He knew it was useless, because the voice was not inside his head. It followed him, skimming across buildings and land. It had followed him since he was sixteen, and it still followed him today, like a memory too horrific to be forgotten…

Aodhan is a shadow-demon, hardened and cold after years of being alone, after his love, his Entwined, was cruelly taken away from him. He has closed his heart to the world, and now spends his life ridding the world of men like those who took his beloved away, an immortal hit-man…

Arianwen Harris is a young DCI, working for York City Police. When a known criminal is found viciously killed, she finds herself trailing a hit-man who has seemed to escape clutches again and again…but she begins to find herself drawn to his dark charms and roguish good looks…

As their two worlds collide, Aodhan and Arianwen find themselves coming together to escape a far greater enemy, one that threatens to create a world far worse than the one they live in. As they battle to hold back the oncoming forces, fate has another plan; one to draw them together and heal their broken pasts together…

Now for those of you interested, Book one is FREE right now!! I recommend you jump on this one, because books two and three are AWESOME and book 4 will be out at the end of this year! And you should read them in order so you know what’s going on 🙂 LOL You’re welcome! you can grab it here—> http://www.amazon.com/Vigilante-Shadows-Scarlet-Rain-Book-ebook/dp/B00AFHIO06/ref=sr_1_1_title_0_main?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1401051276&sr=1-1
About the Author

Miranda Stork

I’m Miranda Stork, and I’m addicted. Addicted to writing and reading books, anyway. And chocolate, but that’s another issue – no interventions, please.

I live in the middle of a forest in North Yorkshire, spending my spare time as the wild woman of the woods, scaring small children and upsetting the sheep. On the days that I feel like being civilized, or I haven’t got any unicorns to ride, I sit down and pour the tumbling thoughts in my head out onto digital paper. Mainly the thoughts and characters come out in paranormal form, with a good smattering of romance, because everyone likes a good cuddle. But you can also find strong elements of thrillers, myths, and even dystopia amongst the pages of all my novels. I’ve wanted to write books ever since I first realised that fairytales were not the newspapers of the fairy kingdom, but the imaginings of actual people who wanted to tell fancy made-up stories to other people. From that moment, I was hooked.

Why do I write? Good question. It might be easier to just keep the stories in my head, or even just to write them for myself. But I want to share them. There is no greater delight for a writer than when a reader devours your book, and declares, “Something in that novel resonated with me. And I want MORE.” So grab your lucky clover and a baseball bat (there’s some nasty paranormal creatures where we’re going), eat the cookie with ‘eat me’ tagged on it, and enter through the tiny door into the world of Miranda Stork…

Where can I find out more about the author?

Havoc's Cry (Victoria Novak: Paranormal Division)

Havoc’s Cry (Victoria Novak: Paranormal Division)

by Loren Weaver (Goodreads Author)
The only living Sorceress, Victoria Novak, finally earned a peaceful, normal life. But with one howl on a full moon, her whole life crashes back into paranormal chaos. The FBI show up to recruit her to the Federal Paranormal Division, the very first all paranormal police force and she can’t decline. Tori must train a new team of special agents in paranormal etiquette in the middle of solving a crime that’s leaving ravaged bodies twisted into grotesque shapes. Caught in the middle of a werewolf fight for dominance, Tori can’t let personal emotion interfere with solving a crime. Until the crime becomes personal. With her life spinning into chaos, the real question is how far is she willing to go to answer Havoc’s Cry.
My review:
Dude I am totally PUMPED UP about this new series! Seriously, think Anita Blake, in the beginning when she was totally bad ass, meets Rachel Morgan. HA!!! Totally powerful and bad ass in both ladies right, except that Tori has a serious mouth on her, and people can’t say her name because it’s cursed, and she can literally kill you quicker hahahaha, and she dies, several times, but it’s ok, because she doesn’t stay dead, and no she doesn’t turn vamper or zombie. HEHE! See, you totally wanna read this one.
Ok, so Tori has been hiding who and what she is for ages. She went into hiding and even had her powers hidden and bottled up because she wants it that way. But, something happens and her powers come back in a flood and she needs them to help save lots of folks. She is recruited by a new FBI division to help police the paranormals, and she’s going to need all the help she can get. These people have no idea what’s really going on. And when weres start getting savagely murdered and shredded, she’s the only one who can help, and she brings her new team along the way.
Tori is hilarious, she has a mouth on her that will make you giggle then make your jaw drop. She’s a fighter, literally, because she had to be, she was seriously raised by vamps, which sucks to be her right. 🙂 But, now, she doesn’t want to be the scary big bad executioner everyone knows her as. She also wants to help people and paranormals live together like normal people do, peacefully, and if she needs to fry your ass to make an example she will. I seriously love this character. Like, surrounded by dudes, but she’s stronger and faster than half of them, and can hold her own, but not just that, she is the knowledge bank, so she has the brains too. And some of those guys are just awesome. AND NO, there will be no love triangle, or even a romance thing, at least not right now. Not even a hint, because she has ass kicking to do 🙂
The writing is amazing. I started on page one, and didn’t put it down until I was finished, and let me say that this one is a longer book, but I still couldn’t put it down! I loved it. Yes there are a few things that maybe could be fixed, but not nearly anything big enough for me to mention, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes a strong heroine, some crazy supernaturals, a bunch of them, and a great urban fantasy, because romance didn’t get in the way around here 🙂 I am thrilled to say that this is a new favorite, maybe one of the best I’ve read so far this year, maybe even before that. So, go get your copy!!! 5 WOLFY, SCARY, ASS KICKING, TOTALLY ROCKING PAWS!!

Devil May Care (The Veil Series, #2)

Devil May Care (The Veil Series #2)

by Pippa DaCosta (Goodreads Author)
“He should be dead. I thought I’d killed him. I was wrong.”

Three dead Enforcers in three weeks, their bodies butchered. Muse has seen it before, and when she reads the metal memories in the murder weapon, she sees it all again. Her owner, Damien, is back, and he wants what is rightfully his.
Muse escaped him and the netherworld, once before. This time, she’s stronger, smarter. This time she knows she has the fires of hell at her fingertips, but so does Damien, and he’s not the only one. Akil is weak. No longer a Prince, he needs Muse’s limitless power to regain his title. How fortuitous then, that Akil’s fate is tied to the one man she cares the most for.

As Muse, Stefan, and Akil battle their own demons, not all will come away victorious. Some choices can never be forgiven. Some lies are never forgotten. Some wounds will never heal.

My Review:
Well now, holy moly. I’m not sure what I should say about this one. It’s a fantastic continuation from the first book, the characters are growing and changing, but boy this one was a little hard to read. Not how you’re thinking. But there’s torture, and evil demons, and lots of fear. And thought the first book had its darker side, this one it grittier, and you actually get to see exactly how Muse was treated before she came to the human word and adopted her human side. It’s rough, but boy was it most fantastic!!
Muse is such a strong woman. I could never have gone through what she went through, and she did it twice. I am broken and pitiful for her. And she’s stuck now. The demon who owned her, before, she thought she killed, but she didn’t. The demon she thought Stephen sacrificed himself for is not only alive, but about to become her ally again. And then there’s Stefan. She is stuck between a rock and a hard place, oh and the fiery pits of hell while we’re at it. I cried a lot for her. But she’s grown so much, even when she got knocked down, she figured out how to get back up.
Ok, so there’s the institute, and I think Adam needs to die, LOL but not Ryker. He’s really cool and in the end, he comes to Muse’s aid when it’s needed. And Akil, well, he’s still hot, but needed to have his ego knocked down a little and I really hope Muse will not let her demon pick him. I want her to fight for Stefan even if he won’t fight for himself. And of course Stefan, well, I can’t tell you about him, because it will ruin things. Just know that being trapped in the hands of hell is not such a lovely vacation. It’s on now, and I know something big is coming for them all.
The writing for this one is amazing. Not only is the other world description so believable, but it’s worded to make you feel everything! This world building from book one was great, but this one has so much more. I felt the ice, the fire, the pain, the tears. Really amazing. And hot damn, I swear, I NEVER EVER saw that bad guy coming. Like, holy shit! I literally sputtered around and almost fell when I found out who was causing all of this. And the plot here, I don’t know where it’s going to go, but I can’t wait to see what’s coming. Seriously, phenomenal sequel. GIMME GIMME GIMME MORE!!! 5 AMAZING, ICICLED, FIERY PAWS!!!

My Review for Book 1 is HERE!

Excerpt:  Chapter 1

I should have known he’d be trouble as soon as he walked into my workshop, but I couldn’t have known he’d be the death of me. He wore a three-quarter length red leather coat, had platinum blond hair long enough to sweep back out of his eyes, and sported scuffed Timberland boots, but if the goose bumps shivering across my skin were anything to go by, he clearly was not as human as his appearance had me believe.

At first, I tried to ignore him, refusing to give him the satisfaction of seeing me hesitate. A quick glance at my dusty clock told me it was late, past midnight, and I’d be damned if I was going to drop everything just because he’d invited himself in. I continued to work on the sword resting on the anvil before me. I hammered out imperfections in the blade’s surface with renewed vigor, metal singing at each blow. Behind me, the coal forge roared. Rolling waves of heat branded my back. I told myself it was sweltering temperatures sprinkling perspiration across my face and back, making my scruffy tank top cling to me, but in truth, it was fear.

Picking up the unfinished sword with gloved hands, I turned and plunged the blade into the glowing coals before facing my uninvited guest. He’d given himself the tour of my cramped workshop, seeming to admire the various swords on display, some unfinished, some as close to art as I was ever going to get. Shame I couldn’t wield them as well as I could craft them.

“Well?” I managed to instil some genuine irritation in my words in the hope it would disguise the anxiety building inside me. I tried to flick my hair out of my face but a few strands stubbornly clung to my sweaty cheek.

“Impressive.” He nodded once and turned arctic-blue eyes on me before flashing what he probably thought was a knee-weakening smile.

If my guest expected me to gush and swoon, he was in for a shock. “Who are you, and what the hell do you want?” It was late. I was tired. He wasn’t human. I figured I was within my rights to be blunt.

His expression tightened. “You’re Muse, right?” He tossed a gesture at the stuffy workshop. “I was expecting something…else.”

I hadn’t heard that nickname in years. Muse was a tag left over from dark days I didn’t wish to revisit.

Approaching me, he reached inside his coat. I caught a flicker of light slide over a handgun tucked into his waistband and tensed. An unusual motif, like entwined scorpions, adorned the grip. But he didn’t reach for the gun. He withdrew a sword and rested it on my anvil. “I want you to read this.”

I tugged off my glove and skipped my fingers over the smooth surface of the blade. The metal burned cold against my insolent touch, as though the sword resented my presence. It was a wonderful piece of workmanship. The ripple – or hamon – below the surface of the carbon-steel blade hinted at Japanese origins, and the tempered edge was sharp enough to slice through flesh with little effort. An intricate hand-forged guard and leather-wrapped hilt betrayed the sword as functional but with a flair for the dramatic, and yet it was clearly a weapon meant for combat, not ceremony.

A thin snap of power danced up my fingers, and with a small hiss, I snatched my hand back. This sword would not easily give up its secrets. “What’s in it for me?”

“What do you want?”

Now there was a loaded question. I didn’t know what or who he was, and had no idea how much he could afford or what the stakes involved. “It depends on what I’m going to find. If we’re talking murder, then I want danger money. If it’s just a lovers’ tiff you’re interested in, a few hundred should do it. I’m assuming you want recent information. If you need me to go back more than five years, it’ll be another two hundred.”

“Or I could walk out of here now and tell the world where you are. I know there are a few unsavoury characters from your checkered past who’d be very grateful for the heads-up on your whereabouts.” His smooth voice and slight smile belied the threat in his words.

I smiled tightly, my first smile since his arrival. “Now, there, you see? We were having a civilized conversation, and you just had to go and spoil it by threatening me.”

“Why don’t you just read the blade, and I can leave you to get on with your–” he cast a glance about him, “–work?”

And now he’d insulted me. “I’m not telling you anything until you give me more to go on.” Who did he think he was talking to? Some back alley half-human woman who would fall over her own feet to do his bidding? He might know my name, but he obviously didn’t know me.

He blinked, before turning back on the charm, as if I could be bought by a handsome face. “You’re right. I’m sorry. A few hundred, was it?” He dug deep into his coat pocket and pulled out a wad of cash. Without counting it, he tossed it onto the anvil. “That should cover it.”

I tugged my glove back on, pinching the heatproof fabric between each finger. “I think you should leave.”

He narrowed his eyes. “Just read the sword, Muse.”

I didn’t have time to humor assholes, especially those of the demon persuasion. “Get out.”

He pulled his distinctive gun on me, finger resting firmly on the trigger, aim rigid. “You will do this for me.” It wasn’t an order. It was fact–at least as far as he was concerned.

“Go back to hell,” I sneered, before reaching around and snatching the blade from the forge, flinging both the half-finished sword and some hot coals at him. He recoiled, cursing as the embers bounced off his coat. I dashed for the doors. My hand was on the handle, when he slammed into me, knocking the breath from my lungs.

He thrust the gun under my chin, freezing me rigid. “Why do you have to be so difficult?”

I really didn’t want this to escalate. Bad shit happens when she comes out to play. The darkness slumbering at my core began to unfurl, opening like the petals of a flower, but its intent was far from delicate. The trickling touch of power spilled into my muscles. Heat flooded through my body. The warmth of my element embraced me, threading itself through every part of me, the lure of chaos undeniable.

He abruptly released me and took a few steps back, gun up. His narrow glare measured me.

I pressed my back against the workshop door. Power dripped from my fingertips. I couldn’t see it—the human part of me was blind to the energy—but he could. His arctic eyes blazed with a promise of conflict.

He appeared to consider his next move and then, quite unexpectedly, laughed and lowered the gun, tucking it back into the holster inside his coat. “You’re right. This isn’t worth it.” With his hands up, as if in surrender, he turned and retrieved the sword in question before weaving his way back around workbenches toward me.

“I’ll leave you in peace.”

“What?” His sudden change in mood completely disarmed me.

“Step aside. I’m leaving.”

Surprised by his abrupt surrender, I did as he asked and watched him slide the door open and step out into the night. A sharp winter breeze invaded the heat of my workshop, rousing me from my muddled stupor. Confused and somewhat disappointed, I followed him out into the alley. The raw energy he’d aroused began to fizzle out. Its departure left me with a sickly chill and bitter sense of loss.

He climbed into the driver’s side of an old Dodge Charger with rust-bruised red paint. I had no idea who he was, where he’d come from, how he’d found me, or what lay hidden in that damn sword. And he was leaving. That couldn’t be right. Didn’t I deserve some sort of explanation?

“Hey!” I ventured further into the street.

Headlights bathed me in twin beams, forcing me to shield my eyes. He gunned the engine, jammed the box into reverse, and swung the car backward into a J-turn before speeding off, fat tires squealing on wet asphalt.

I stood in the street, hand on hip, head tilted to one side and breathed the crisp night air, clearing my lungs of forge-dust. Then the shockwave hit me. The explosion lashed across my back. I must have briefly lost consciousness, but the furious pain in my back quickly summoned me from the depths. A whine drilled into my skull. Alarms sounded from the industrial units around me.

I turned my head toward the heat, grit digging into my cheek as I peered into the smoke bellowing from the hollow gap between two buildings.

My workshop had gone and with it, my attempt at a normal life.

Book Description:

Since Lucifer claimed victory at Armageddon, demons, angels, and humans have coexisted in uneasy harmony. Those with waning magic are trained to maintain peace and order. But hostilities are never far from erupting…

After years of denying her abilities, Noon Onyx, the first woman in history to wield waning magic, has embraced her power. She’s won the right to compete in the prestigious Laurel Crown Race—an event that will not only earn her the respect of her peers but also, if she wins, the right to control her future.

However, Noon’s task is nearly impossible: retrieve the White Heart of Justice, a mythical sword that disappeared hundreds of years ago. The sword is rumored to be hidden in a dangerous region of Halja that she is unlikely to return from. But Noon’s life isn’t the only thing hanging in the balance. The sword holds an awesome power that, in the wrong hands, could reboot the apocalypse—and Noon is the only one who can prevent Armageddon from starting again…

 My Review

This one is the best so far! WOW! I am still a little devastated, but of some happenings, but I can’t wait to see where we go from here. So in the first two books, we learn that things are not the same anymore, I mean Armageddon did happen here people. Noon is at a school and she works with other demons, angels, the council, her parents who kind of blew me away in this one. She learns that she has some excellent friends, and she learns that friends she used to have may be the worst kind of enemy. It was just wow. AND some people died who shouldn’t have, some people died and I SERIOUSLY CHEERED, and some other people should have died but didn’t LOL I know right. This one is an action packed piece of excellence!

So, Noon is learning some things, and she wants to win this race, which is seriously like a suicide mission, but because of her background, she thinks it’s going to help her future. Things have been complicated for her for a long time, she just wants something simple. And then, the poo hits the fan and it’s all down hill for her. 🙂 However, she is such a trooper, and hot damn if she doesn’t make it, no matter what. This is a seriously strong girl. And my heart broke for her a little. Or a lot, at the end. *sigh* we’re gunna see how this plays out. Which is why I will skip the discussion of the manly parts, because things did not take the turn I wanted. Instead, it blew through the stop sign, skipped the curve, and went right over the cliff, so we’re gunna see what will happen in her romance part of life LOL

So, Noon works her butt off, almost dies twice, or maybe three times, is almost assassinated, almost froze to death, and her guardian is awesome. He love life sucks though. Her brother is very cool. I want a brother like him. And along the way of trying to survive, she’s also trying to race against time to win the race. If this girl isn’t bad ass, then I don’t know what is!

This is such a great world to be in. The creation of things are so fantastic. I wanna see all those cool things, and I totally wish my brain worked where I could really see TarTarus in my head. And those Berghests, I wish I had one! 🙂 And I can’t wait to see where she goes with that part too. Overall, how can you not want to be a part of this one! I cannot wait for the next step. I have a feeling the next one is going to have some major crazy going on LOL 🙂 5 MAGNIFICENT BERGHEST PAWS!!!

About Fractured Light (Book #1)

Llona Reese is used to living on the run. After the Vykens killed her parents, she knew they would eventually come for her too. She can’t take any chances. But when she starts to make friends for the first time in her life, she gets careless and lets her guard down. Big mistake.

As an Aura, Llona can manipulate light and harness its energy. But if she wants to survive, Llona will have to defy the Auran Council and learn to use her power as a weapon against the Vyken whose sole desire is to take her light. Now she’s caught in something even bigger than she can understand, with a power she can’t wield, and no one she can trust, except, just maybe, a mysterious stranger.

About Fractured Soul (Book #2)

Llona will do whatever it takes to protect her new found friends and home, but the dark plot threatening Lucent Academy, a school that’s supposed to be a safe place for Auras, may be too powerful for even Llona to defeat.

This fast-paced tale of love, loyalty, and overcoming the darkness will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page!

My Review:

What a fantastic ending, except that maybe just maybe, there may be more! I wanna know about that little adventure at the end. 🙂 So, Llona not only has her biggest nightmare confirmed, but she must chose on multiple accounts about things that will effect not only her future but many many other’s futures as well. This is a lot for an 18 year old, but she handles it like a champ. I am going to try my hardest to leave out any kind of spoilers but it’s gunna be hard, so heads up from now on. LOL

Llona has definitely grown a whole lot since the beginning of the first book. She’s smart, courageous, a little crazy, and sometimes jumps the gun, because she always wants to see the best in people, and that’s not always the case. She goes through many heart breaks in this one. Seriously be prepared to cry on her behalf. She almost dies like a million times, and hot damn if she still doesn’t kick some ass! She’s changing things around Lucent Academy, and you’re either with her, or in her way, and I am 100% behind that statement. But in the end, I couldn’t be happier.

I don’t want to get directly into the characters because it will be totally spoilery. Let me just say that May is still awesome, though in this one she has some major stuggles and almost doesn’t make it on top. She’s still awesome those. Liam is absolutely fantastic, because he just is. Just wait and see. Christian, well he just makes me cry, he really does. Several times. But I can’t say more than that, because you need to read the first two books to catch on to that. Tessa and Kiera are the best, and with such great friends, who could go wrong. There are some many wonderful characters, but every time I think of what I want to say about them, something spoilery comes up, so let’s just say that each character will take a piece of your heart. You will laugh, and cry, and scream, and be scared right along with each of them. You will learn lots of secrets that totally blew my mind, and so many things will be answered. This was a fantastic ending. I could not be more happy, and I am seriously hoping to have a spin off, or a continuation, or something dammit! I love this world and these people too much!!!! The writing was flawless. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! Like literally, you try washing dishes while reading LOL 🙂 But, who wouldn’t love this one. There’s so much to offer in this book, but you have to read the first two, so go get em!!! 6 MAGNIFICENT, HEARTBREAKING, AMAZING, GREAT ENDING PAWS!!! 🙂
