Sapphire’s Divinity Cover Reveal!!

Sapphire's Divinity 3x
Title:  Sapphire’s  Divinity
Author:  Justine  Winter
Release  Date:  27th  August  2014
Genre:  Paranormal  Romance

I  was  a  hybrid  werewolf  with  a  secret  destiny  shadowed  by  a  prophecy  the  Ancient  Guardians  foretold.  The  same  Ancient  Guardians  that  had  organised  the  annual  Alpha  summit  Riley  had  been  summoned  to.

Since  Jackson’s  demon  threat  everyone  was  powered  up  on  overtime  at  the  gym.  Train,  sweat,  repeat.  Train,  sweat,  repeat.

But  all  that  rage-filled  preparation  wasn’t  enough.  We  were  being  targeted  by  something  new,  and  it  didn’t  stop  there.

The  summit  was  proving  to  be  my  nemesis.  Egotistical  morons  challenged  me  with  threats  to  the  one  I  loved,  and  I  knew  I  couldn’t  endure  a  life  without  Riley.

Besides  all  of  that,  there  was  one  thing  I  was  finally  understanding  about  the  supernatural.  Nothing  was  as   it  seemed.

Not  even  me.

I’ve always lived a life based on my imagination, from hopeless dreams of romance to concocting alternate realities involving supernaturals. I’m completely fascinated with anything hero-related, and often speculate which superpower I’d possess. I haven’t settled on one yet.

I was born in England, and currently reside in Wales, UK. I love to write, and most days you’ll find me happily tapping away at the computer whilst in my pyjama-clad bubble. I also spend my time reading, and if that isn’t enough I’m often in the kitchen baking up a treat.

Book Description:

When Alexis James arrives at her first assignment in months, she anticipates the danger and violence rife in her calling as a Lycan Hunter. What she doesn’t expect is a handsome, blue-eyed wolf saving her life and kidnapping her. Surrounded by the enemy, Alexis must not only survive her prisoners but the bonds of a different sort that begin to form against her will.

Mikko Kyran was chosen by the gods to lead his pack, and he has made it his mission to end the eight thousand years of war plaguing his people. The Alpha never suspected that the key to the prophecy ending the Forever War would be held by a smart-mouthed, sexy Hunter determined to kill him.

Can two people from different worlds set aside everything they know about one another long enough to survive retribution from the Hunters, the pack, and the gods? Or will their differences start a war that neither can win?

Written with intensity and depth, The Lycan Hunter is the first in a thrilling new series.

Alexis stood outside of the small, weathered hotel room she’d reserved and scanned the horizon. She’d made it to Nowheresville, North Carolina without a single Hunter sighting. Granted, it had taken her three days to make it here, but that had more to do with the ridiculous amount of energy she spent to stay away from heavily populated areas, avoiding the areas that she remembered had past issues with Lycans, and trying to be mindful of her healing stomach.

She sighed and went back inside to stare at the horror-movie-ugly tropical wallpaper and depressing furniture. All of it needed to be updated. One look at the front desk clerk/owner, and Alexis had known that the man’s beaten body wasn’t capable nor did it care for things like twenty first century amenities. The room was missing a shiny new flat screen mounted on the wall or nice faux marble counter tops in the bathroom. The only TV she had to watch was a turn knob set that, when she checked, only had three channels. The bathroom was a beach- bungalow-don’t. Overall, the décor was a clusterfuck of stuff that didn’t make sense. The depressed beach atmosphere was at odds with the fact that the hotel was over a hundred miles away from any beach. Maybe it was to remind the guests of where they really wanted to be.

She collapsed on the well-worn bed and thought of her next move. She needed to turn in her rental and get a new one sometime soon. Over the next few days, she would have to make it to New York, and eventually she would make her way to Ireland. Flying to Ireland would be both cheaper and faster, but taking a cruise would give her some time to decompress.

Ireland was the perfect place to go. Very few Lycans lived there, and Hunters never stayed for long durations. Alexis was sure that Ireland was one of the few places where she would be able to relax a little until Kyran pulled together whatever he was trying to do. That was her plan, despite knowing that when the war did come to an end she wouldn’t be around to appreciate it.

She was just getting comfortable when there was a knock at her door. She drew her weapon and glanced through the peephole. It was the front desk clerk. She cracked the door as far as the slip chain would allow. It was a flimsy defense, but paranoia and overzealous defenses would keep her alive.

“Hi, ma’am. I just wanted to check and make sure you were cool enough. These old AC units don’t work as well as they should sometimes.”

“Yes, I’m fine. Thank you.”

“Well, if you need anything feel free to let me know.”

“Thanks, will do. Goodnight.”

She closed the door, slid the deadlock in place, and went over to the backpack Ronan had given her before she left. He had tried to give her his credit card, but she refused. She didn’t need a way for anyone to track her, but she also carried cash – a hundred grand –on her at all times. That paranoia and knowledge that her parents had been gunning for her death for years made carrying cash a necessity.

Fifteen minutes later, she had finished cleaning, oiling and reloading her guns when another knock sounded at the door. This time the clerk wanted to know if she had enough towels. Ten minutes later, she answered it to have him give her info on the local area. Another knock sounded and Alexis rose from the bed and stashed away any hopes that she would get a restful night’s sleep.

“Yes?” she asked.

“I’m sorry, but I wanted to warn you that the local sheriff just called to say there is a bear wandering around. He is notorious for rummaging near city limits.”

“Thanks. I think I’ll be okay.”

“Well, I don’t know if you are licensed to carry, but just remember to shoot as fast as you are accurate.”

“I’ll remember that.”

She tried to keep the shock off of her face as he told her some information on the continental breakfast she could get in the morning before he excused himself back to the front office. She closed the door on his latest interruption and began packing up her cleaning supplies.

She wasn’t staying for breakfast. If the décor was any indication, she might die from ingesting it. Not to mention the fact that there was something up with the clerk.

No hotel, at least not one this unloved, would allow its clerks to be so overly attentive. She felt like he was checking on her. Whoever he was he knew the mantra about how to shoot that Torin had taught her. Was it possible that the old man just happened to know it? Yes, but she wouldn’t take any chances.

Alexis tensed as a soft rustling brought her attention from slipping on her holster. There was a slight chance that the sound came from the room adjacent to hers, but walls weren’t that thin. Were they? She shook her head, because from what she remembered, there had only been one other car in the parking lot, and it was in front of one of the rooms towards the other end of the lot. The only logical place the sound could come from would be from the back of the hotel where a tree-lined field was located.

She rolled to the floor as silently as she could, keeping her body below the low lying window. It wouldn’t matter if whoever was outside had infrared, but she had to assume that they didn’t.

She grabbed her bag and slung the straps over her shoulders just as two shots fired.

The rounds entered low on the wall and buried themselves in Sheetrock next to her.

Shit, high powered rifles with barrel silencers. Fan-fucking-tastic.

 My Review

I love werewolves. They are always going to be my favorite supernatural character. I love it even more when they are totally cool, and have this awesome background 🙂 This is the story of the star crossed lovers, kinda, who kill each other’s kind, who happen to fall for each other. But, think more like Hunger Games type environment of kill or be killed, with extreme military training for the hunters, and some very HAWT wolves! Serious action, not so Romeo and Juliet, but it can be sweet, in between the death threats LOL I loved it!

So Alexis is our lovely lady hunter. She had totally sucky parents. Seriously, I hope they die horribly soon! Anyways, she is, from birth, trained to do nothing but kill lycans aka werewolves. She has never been shown love, or affection, or hell, cartoons for that matter. She is also taught that she is insignificant and defective by her peers and parents. She has a crappy life, until she is wounded quite badly and saved by a lycan. She still tries to kill him when he saves her. LOL It’s ok, she misses. However, he seems to save her a lot in the story. Alexis is very strong, very independent, she has one of the highest kill counts in the hunters. And yet, she totally gets sentimental when she’s finally shown decency. She is always seeming to get hurt, probably because she literally throws herself into battle. She even saves the enemy, who maybe isn’t the enemy after all. I liked her character. I wanted to hug her alot. I’m glad things worked out like they did.

Kyran, aka Ky, is the HAWT piece. LOL He’s the alpha of his pack, and all he wants to do is have peace between the hunters and the shapeshifters. They’ve been at war for thousands of years, and he wants it over. He will do anything, even go above and beyond to befriend a hunter to try to make this happen. Said Hunter happens to be Alexis, who still wants to kill him, and yet, he’s in over his head because he can’t help his attraction to her. Kyran is so sweet, having the more affectionate upbringing. He has a totally awesome brother, Ronan. AND I am so happy to say that I’ve found two men who are good enough in their confidence to show each other their feeling without being sappy. YES! They had some of the best parts of the story. Ky is a total catch, man of your dreams, droolworth main character. GIMME ONE! LOL And things are about to get really crazy for him!

There’s an astounding amount of really good side characters in here! Ronan, Ky’s brother and second, Marce- I’ve shortened her name cuz I forget how to spell it LOL-, Jillian, Trinity, some of the bad guys, Torin-he’s pretty awesome- and Lykil-the very awesome God of Destruction. I love LOVE his character. All of these characters, as well as the mains, were so well written. Look I even remembered their names without reference. They just stuck because I liked them. I love when you enjoy the whole thing, not just parts of a book.

Let talk about world building. I love the new spin on who and what shapeshifters are and how they became. I love the tension between the hunters and the shapeshifter. You can seriously feel it. I am totally all in for all the wonderful action that was in this book. I kept feeling like I should be ducking bullets or fielding bombs, or dodging punches. It’s also very much an emotional ride because Alexis learns to be a whole new person, with emotions attached, while there are just some seriously devastating moments! All I can say is…. PLEASE GIMME GIMME MORE! REALLY! PLEASE! I know there has to be something, because it’s really coming now, but I need something! LOL a WONDERFUL, DEVELOPING, ENGAGING, WOLFY 5 PAWS!!

First, tell me a little about your book
J….Author Interview

The Lycan Hunter is a story of meddlesome gods and a prophecy that Kyran wants to fulfill. Toss in a Hunter bent on the destruction of his people and you’ve got problems. To make matters worse that Hunter is an emotionally hardened woman, but she’s also his Soul’s Mate, his one true love.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?

I started writing poetry at the age of 13 when my English teacher had us do a poetry anthology. I still have that anthology. I was an awful poet.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?

I started writing as a personal challenge. Up until I sat down to write a novel, I wrote mostly free verse poetry.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

Although I wish I knew some of these people, the characters are their own. I can’t say that they don’t have at least a little bit of me, but I believe every author leaves a little of their soul in their books. As for the events, the novel was inspired by a song by Within Temptation called The Howling.

How do you chose when/which characters die in your books?

I only kill people based on what is best for the story. This generally means that character’s story has ended. Some deaths may seem frivolous to readers but anyone I kill permanently is in the best interest of the overall story.  Yes that permanently is there for a reason 🙂

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

New authors are always grabbing my attention. My TBR pile grows constantly with new authors to try out.

Who do you look up to as a writer?

I find myself humbled by authors who tell great stories, who are true to their craft and their audience.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?

I think the plight of any writer is that we worry that we should have done something differently no matter how well a book turns out. It could be something simple like a name change, but I think we all worry that we should have made that one small change. I have to be content that I did the best that I could and grow from there.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

I’m not an overly emotional person, so emotional intimacy makes me itch. Odd considering I write romance, but I work on it every time I write that closeness between characters.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre?

Currently I’m reading The Godspeaker Trilogy by Karen Miller which is a fantasy novel.

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?

Greg Simanson designed my cover. That’s one of the great things about being at Booktrope. I have a say in the cover design, which I’m glad I did. I love what Greg was able to do once I finally came up with a concept that I liked.

Did you learn anything from writing your books and what was it?

What I learned didn’t necessarily happen in The Lycan Hunter, but in one that I wrote shortly after finishing The Lycan Hunter. No one can accept you if you are not willing to first accept yourself, flaws and all.

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?

I think I would gladly walk in most of my character’s shoes for a day or so, but if I had to choose today, I’d pick Trinity. She’s a minor character, but she has my dream kitchen and I want to make something extravagant today.

Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because?

I’d suggest The Dragon Kin series by G.A.Aiken and The Marnie Baranuik Files by A.J. Aalto. Both of them make me laugh and fulfill my need for paranormal activity.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you so much! I love hearing from you and being reminded why I do it in the first place.

About the Author:

Kelsey Jordan is the author of The Lycan Hunter, the first book in her Gardinian World series. Though she has a preference for all things paranormal and romantic, Kelsey admits she just writes what her muse demands of her. It’s less painful that way. When she isn’t enjoying the momentary benefits of playing god to the many characters that live in her head, she can usually be found curled up with a book, killing something in a video game, or spending time with her family. At some point in the day she is probably drinking more than her recommended dose of coffee, but don’t tell her that. She doesn’t care about recommended servings.

As a Texas native and self-described Air Force brat, Kelsey now lives in Georgia with her husband and their tutu-wearing minion. Book 2 and 3 of the series will be published by Booktrope Editions late Summer/Fall 2014.

When Prince Patricio, the angelic Prince of Meropis, is sent careening into the stormy sea, Marcela’s world is turned upside-down – literally.
Patricio is an angel beset by a curse. He’s determined to have nothing more to do with her. Until he finds himself saving the mermaid…from drowning. With glamour following him around like a cloud, it’s difficult for an angel to be sure what’s real. A mermaid with legs and no voice. A hamadryad with a prophecy. A witch with a chip on her shoulder. The world is full of magic and mayhem and for an angel and a mermaid, it will take more than a kiss to balance… the Divine Scales.
My Review
I just freaking love this series!! So, think the Little Mermain, but scarier, meets her Prince Charming, who isn’t so Charming…. I LOVED IT!!! AND to top it off, The Little Mermaid was my favorite childhood movie–WAIT it’s STILL one of my all time favorite movies! I STILL watch it all the time!! I know all the words and can sing (maybe not so good) all the songs! 🙂 Yep, so I loved this take on it! Seriously, Marcela may have just become my favorite lady from this series, but Etienne still has my heart hahahaha 🙂
So Marcela is our little mermain, except she’s a warrior, and strong willed, and a little bit of a force lol and then she falls under the Curse of our Prince Patrico. Umm, but she doesn’t know about his little curse, and he is all but becoming infatuated with her as well. But I can’t tell you too much because I think it would ruin it for you. 🙂 So, Marcela saves Pat, yep I called him P-squared as my nickname for him, because Prince Patrico was also Mr square pants and it took forever for Marcela to get him to relax a little bit. I know, me and my nicknames LOL. But anyways, Marcela’s story is a good bit like the little mermaid, but with some slight more adult instances, and I’m not talking sex. She has much more to deal with because she’s an adult, and sometimes the really hard parts have to come before a HEA.
Mr. P-squared made me want to slap him. I’ve wanted to slap him for a long time now, in just the small parts of the first three books. He’s definitely got his work cut out for him with Marcela. AND then she gets under his skin, and then his frien-emy, aka our lovely Demon who is one of my favorites, opens his eyes and helps him with her. This is Pat’s ground breaking moment. I started to like him. And then I loved him by the end. He has become worthy of my little mermaid! And they finally get a romance worthy of such awesome characters!!
Now let’s talk plot. If you’ve read any of the first three books, you’ll know there’s a little divine intervention going on with these lovely Princes. They need their mates to follow their destinies. And there’s a little goddess helping that along. BUT that’s the background plot, which I love! The main plot is to figure out a way to not only break Pat’s curse, keep Marcela from dying, or worse, and of course to work for a Happily ever after. And I won’t tell you about the other secrets, you have to read to find out. But I really really really can’t wait for the next one!! I have a feeling it’s going to be EPIC!! Plus I am DYING to know what that little goddess has been up to with all of these events and what they are leading to. OH BOY I’m like a little kid in a candy store thinking about it! So my advice, read this series. Just do it, it’s awesome!! 🙂 And since my wolves have PAWS, I’m going to make the exception today and say 5 MAJESTIC, MAGNIFICENT, MAGICAL FINS!! 🙂

Before Midnight (Blood Prince, #1)

Before Midnight (Blood Prince #1)

Loupe always dreamed of getting married. She yearned for a caring husband who would take her away from her servant-like existence at home with her stepmother and two stepsisters, a man who would love her forever. Those dreams ended the day she was bitten by a werewolf. Now she’s a mindless beast on the night of the full moon—a condition that forever prevents her from sharing a marriage bed. Not even the attentions of a handsome and endearingly strong prince can convince her that the life she wants is still possible.

Etienne is a prince in need of a werewolf. A werewolf himself from birth, Etienne and his family have protected their kingdom with tooth and claw—literally—for thousands of years. Unfortunately, the spell of a well-meaning witch is slowly turning him human. Only the bite of a cursed werewolf, one who was not born with the beast inside, can save him from becoming human. He has no time for anything that will not lead him to a cure for the curse. Not even the beautiful maiden whose gentle nature soothes his soul can take his mind from his goal.

Love cares little for the best laid plans or the impossible. A grand ball. The stroke of twelve. A magic “slipper.” All kinds of things can happen when you don’t leave the ball…Before Midnight

John Hennessy

John Hennessy is a young adult / new adult novelist whose works to date have been Dark Winter (published 2013), a paranormal horror thriller, and Stormling, an epic swords and magic (and cookies) fantasy. The first short story he ever wrote brought together Fagan, Lizzie Bennet, Sherlock Holmes and Dracula, which despite impressing his long suffering English teacher, thankfully remains unpublished. STORMLING: Excerpt by John Hennessy

“Father, we can go, can’t we? Please? Don’t you want to see who will win today?”

Aldyr Veroynne knelt down in front of his son, and placed his hands on the boy’s shoulders, squeezing them gently with firm hands.

“Anadyr, please, give it a rest. That would be six days in a row. We know who is going to win, anyway. You don’t need to come along. Just know that the winner is always someone from Mill’An Draythe.”

“Still, the Easterners come,” said Anadyr. “I must go to see how they fight, so that when I have the glory to represent my land, I know how to win.”

Anadyr had been just ten years of age when he became involved in his first fight, against another young Stormling, as it happened. At first, it seemed like the bigger and older Stormling would win, and had far too much strength for Anadyr.

During the fray, Anadyr connected with few blows, but could not knock his bigger opponent down. Then, with a swift kick to his mid-section, Anadyr’s strength left him, and he rolled into a ball on the ground, one hand clutching his stomach, the other, keeping his hair from covering his eyes.

The sun was blocked out by the shadow of the Stormling standing over him, who must was five years his senior.

“Loser?” he inquired.

You wish,” replied Anadyr, who sat up, and clapped his hands three times together before placing them on the ground, one hand either side of him.

“I don’t need applause from a loser,” said the bigger Stormling.

“That wasn’t applause,” replied the young Anadyr.

Suddenly, the ground started to shake all around them, the bigger Stormling’s smug look of apparent victory was erased by the tremors on the ground, and the almost instantaneous appearance of black clouds that filled the sky.

A few moments later, the clouds burst and soaked only the bigger Stormling and his crew of friends, whilst Anadyr stood laughing at them. The group started to run, but the rain lashed them in every way, from both sides, from above, and even as they ran into the ground which became ever more sodden, until they fell face forward.

“Why isn’t it raining on you?” the biggest one screamed. “You’re in league with the Lord of Monus! Say it isn’t so, for Stormlings don’t lie.”

Anadyr smiled and leaned over his sodden nemesis, who he was merely toying with.

“That’s right, Stormlings don’t lie, and I am not in league with anyone. So! Are you a loser?”

The bigger Stormling seethed. “So it would seem. Just make the damned rain stop. Who are you, boy?”

Anadyr clicked his fingers and rested his fists on the top of his hips.

“I am Anadyr Veroynne, and I command the Storms. The wind, the rain, the clouds all answer to me, and as for you….I will have your allegiance.”

The other Stormlings mumbled, saying they would not answer to some preppy brat, but the one who had hit Anadyr, stood up and bowed to him.

“I am good with a sword, but my true prowess lies with the double daggers. My skill is such that I could skim the sweat off a faerie’s wings. If you ever need my help, you shall have it, although…one who can bend the Storms to his will, surely has no need for an edged weapon.”

“Not so,” said Anadyr. “In fact, I practise with a longsword twelve hours a day. What is your name?”

“Kirnosst. Though my sword wielding days are at an end. I’m being sent to Firetop to learn, watch and ultimately take over from Aynara. Unlike us, she’s not an immortal, but I suppose your father told you that already.”

Anadyr nodded emphatically to show he knew about Aynara’s supposed mortality, but no-one knew when her time would end. There were none like her on Mordana.

Aldyr Veryonne was none-too-impressed with his son’s handling of things. “You wanted him to knock you down, so that you could show off, isn’t that so? The truth now, Anadyr.”

“I just wanted to show I wasn’t afraid of them. If I can instil fear into the heart of my enemies, maybe I can bend them to my way of thinking, as easily as I do the storms.”

“You are just a boy, Anadyr. You are too young to have enemies.”

“Didn’t you say that those East of the Wisty River are our enemies?”

“Well, yes, but I don’t see what that has to do with anything.”

“It’s got everything to do with it,” said Anadyr. “That’s why I want to go see the fight today. The Lord of Monus sends a Tryer from the Mordis Mountains, or from the heart of Caldreah itself.”

“Yes, Anadyr, but the point is-”

“The point is, Father, that today’s Tryer is from AnnanGhorst, and that makes things very interesting. I have never seen a ShadowWraith, much less seen you fight one. Tell me you’ll take me, please!”

Aldyr sighed. Putting combatants from the East out of their misery is something he loved to do, but a ShadowWraith of AnnanGhorst was different. Even the weakest of their kind were not to be taken lightly. Even if the Wraith lost, it would be most likely sent to the Island of Dead Skin, where Andus Rey, ruler of Caldreah Monus and a Stormling himself, ran his own sick tournament, where combatants often had to fight to the death.

Having a Wraith enter the fray was no battle at all. Under Rey’s watch, they would win, and win easily. Aldyr let out another sigh. He was considering throwing the match, even though this was illegal.

“Alright Anadyr, I’ll take you. But whatever happens, you come straight back home. That’s an order.”

“I will, Father. I will,” said Anadyr, who could not believe there would be any other outcome but a clear and decisive victory for his father, who was a skilled swordsman and had been known to dabble in magic.

ShadowWraiths were difficult adversaries for all sorts of reasons. Although they were scary to look at, it was more a case of what you couldn’t see, rather than what you could.

There were all sorts of rumours about them, which, outside of AnnanGhorst, became the very fabric of legend.

Some would say that there actually were no ShadowWraiths, but that it was Rey himself, who would come to test himself against the foes of Monus.

Others believed the Wraiths did have a face, but it was one so terrible to view, that one would die of fright from resting innocent eyes on their hateful faces.

Still others believed that the ShadowWraiths could not be killed, and one had to have a death wish if standing against them. But everyone who knew Aldyr Veroynne believed that he must know how to defeat a ShadowWraith.

As expected, there was a great throng of people in the town centre. They gathered round the platform, which stood some twenty feet from the ground. The ShadowWraith was already on the platform as Aldyr and Anadyr arrived.

As they walked, Aldyr beamed smiles and waved to everyone. They had come to see him triumph, which would be his thirty-eigth win in a row. The ShadowWraiths had triumphed every time to date, but the locals felt it was time one of their own succeeded.

The Wraith extended a bony finger towards Aldyr, and beckoned him to stand on the platform with him.

“Remember Anadyr,” whispered his father, “whatever happens, you will return home. Understood?”

“Yes Father, of course,” said Anadyr, who was surprised his father was making so much of this battle. Winning fights is what Aldyr Veroynne was all about. ‘He’s just more fodder from AnnanGhorst, who will slink back to that hellhole when my father’s through with him,’ thought Anadyr.

Whilst Anadyr watched the two men line up, a third man, the one who usually judged the battles, pulled himself up onto the platform, and from underneath his robes he produced a rather large wooden box. An omnious gasp came out from the crowd. “What? What is it?” said the young Stormling. Anadyr craned his neck to see what the commotion was.

The judge extended his arms to the crowd. “Today’s battle is a red match. In this box are two weapons from the challenger’s province of AnnanGhorst. The fighter who represents us has agreed to the terms, and will use the weapon provided to him.”

Anadyr nudged the man next to him. “What is it? What is a red match?”

The man solemnly shook his head. “It means that this is not for children’s eyes. They will fight to the death.”

 My Review

This one is definitely in the epic fantasy side of genres. The writing is definitely done well, though it may take you a bit to unravel the mysteries being fed right into the beginning of the book. But the first thing you get to read is a little bit about our main character, winning a battle, and starting the book with how things are going to happen. It’s a glimpse into what you are going to be seeing and why it was so important for you to know that event, because it’s going to shape the main character. It’s such a unique way of doing things.

At first when I started reading, I was a little confused because a lot of characters were introduced in short bursts. But I see now, that instead of dumping a back story all at once, which would slow the pace down, they were each introduced in the here and now. It made for an interesting start of the book. You see what is happening with them at that moment in time, before a big past is thrown at you. There is a LOT of world building, so be prepared but don’t be discouraged. I actually think it made sense for you to try to understand the things going on.

There’s this jewel of extreme significance, and it was lost from the magical world of Mordana. Most magic isn’t really practiced anymore except for there. And there’s a bridge that separates Earth (aka Crith Talum) from Mordana. And we need to not only keep Mordana safe, but Earth too. And when some bad guys, Wraiths, come to Earth for something, some all kinds of hell starts. 🙂 And the Stormling need to keep the bad guys from destroying everything.  Plus, Stormling and some of the other magical races do not use their magic in public, because of some past indiscretions.  There’s a war coming and there will be sides.

There are some wonderful characters in here, but a good bit of them, and I think if I started going on about each, we’d be here a good while.  And don’t worry, there’s some cool normal people in here too, but the cool characters have the magic, of course 🙂 And again, the writing is actually really well done, it’s just different from what I usually read. And I definitely look forward to the next book, as I’m sure just like this one, will have more magic, and action, and fights with swords, and very complex characters that make the story that much more. A Fantasic 4 PAWS!

Whisper Redesigned Cover Reveal!!

 by Heather Hildenbrand
New Adult Paranormal Fantasy

The Cherokee believe when a person dies, their soul is reborn. Life is repeated. An endless cycle of lessons to be learned, love to be found, destiny to be fulfilled. For the past six months, in every flower, every bird, I’ve imagined my parents, relieved of their human forms.

Now, after five months at the Skye View Wellness Center, it was summer. A time for parties and friends, but that’s the last thing I want to do. So when my best friend Erin convinces me to attend a bonfire at Eagle Point, I can’t handle the crowd full of sympathetic stares or drunken class clowns who would use my tragedy as a way into my heart – or my pants. The solitude of the woods offers an escape, until I stumble upon a boy, unconscious and bleeding, his pockets stuffed not with identification but with poetry illustrating the beauty of dying. I’ve seen enough death. I will not leave this boy’s side.

Even after he wakes, when the only thing he can remember are visions of events that haven’t happened yet…

Between the Layers Cover Reveal

Most fifteen year old girls are trying to figure out who they are; I’m trying to stay alive long enough to figure out what.

I’ve always been on the run.  From my guilt about the things I couldn’t change, and from the voice in my head that won’t let me be normal.  But yesterday Tommy and I were in a car accident on the way home from school.  When I woke up, Tommy was gone, and so was the world I grew up in.  Now I’m running less in a metaphorical way, and more in a “pick up the pace if you don’t want to die” way.  Why?  Because my eyes are blue, and I’m lost in a fantasy world where that means I’m different.  It means I might not be human.  It means I should already be extinct, and someone called “The Regent” is determined to make me that way.

I need to find the way home, and before I do that, I need to find Tommy. He’s only in this mess because of me.  I can’t do it on my own, but it’s hard to know who to trust when everyone keeps trying to kill me.

My Review

This is a wonderful story about a girl who thinks she’s human, but when she’s in an accident, she is somehow transported into another place and boy does it get crazy from there. I am really hoping this is going to be a series because I would love to know so much more. And though the story wraps up nicely, there’s a little opening for some more to come. Ms Sara I hope you get my message to write more!! 🙂 I had to laugh when Sera keeps thinking about Alice in Wonderland, that she fell down the hole 🙂

Sera, aka Serendipity, wakes up from a car accident on a beach in a whole different world. People think she’s their “lost princess” and she wants nothing but to go home to her family. As she learns more about some of the people around her, she even begins to believe them, just a little, and agree to help them if they will help her get home. And then she learns about the horrible things happening. She’s a young teenage girl, what can she do, but she will find a way to help if she can. And then she makes friends, and allies with scary creatures, and then she really starts to understand who and what she is.

There’s some wonderful characters in here, several I have totally fallen in love with. And there’s definitely mystery and intrigue. And there’s lots of humor, as well as serious moments. It’s got a little bit of everything that can appeal to so many. I really enjoyed the writing and how easily it flowed. I was serious when I said that I really hope this one becomes the beginning of the series, I see it having so much to grow from 🙂 A fun and sweet little fantasy that I say gets 5 MAGICAL PAWS 🙂

Cade The LeBeau Brothers Review!

Hello everyone! I am going to be hosting the second book of this series coming up, so I figured that I should share my review of book one with you guys before I spill secrets about it for book two 🙂 LOL, here’s the goodies!

Cade (Le Beau Brothers, #1)

Cade (Le Beau Brothers #1)

Anna James is single again, finally. In her opinion, men are self-centered and will never love her for who she is, a beautiful, plus sized woman. All except the fantasy man that she’s been meeting in her dreams for five years.
She just never expected her fantasy to be a real live alpha shifter…

Cade Le Beau isn’t what he seems. He’s a billionaire wolf. A Shifter. He laments his missed chance six months ago to meet his fantasy woman in the flesh. Just as his second chance presents itself, his fantasy woman, his mate, is threatened by the local mob boss and her ex-husband. Now, he has forty eight hours to deal with this threat once and for all or chance losing her again.

Is it Anna who’s in danger, or the humans who unwittingly threaten her?
The heat is on the moment they lay eyes on each other. Neither, age, children, horrid ex-husbands, nor mob bosses will stop this love affair.

My Review
Ok, being from Louisiana and living here is awesome, but when I start reading a book about New Orleans, I am always worried. Unless you LIVE here, you don’t always understand all the little things. BUT this author did it justice and I am very proud of that! And she didn’t make us sound like complete morons who can’t speak 🙂 Big total high five for that!! Now, next up, you know I love me some werewolves…. AND I LOVED THESE! I like the little twists that made them unique, and I like that they are a bunch of brothers, which means I’ll get to see more of them soon. 🙂 And the people watching is always a really fun thing to do, so these characters who like to people watch could be my friends any day 🙂
So Anna is our leading lady. She’s finally divorced from her ridiculous abusive, cheating, slimy bastard of a husband. I think I am going to kill him myself for her 🙂 And the reason she stayed with his crappy ass for so long is that she’s a bigger lady, and by that I mean she is normal, because she’s the same damn size as me! 🙂 YAY for the author finally making it REAL because I definitely like to eat my Louisiana food, more than I want to be skinny. Anna thinks that because her pants size are two digits, she’ll never be beautiful or wanted. Well, there’s a wolf who will die to have her 🙂 I liked Anna, and I especially liked that she’s got courage and will stand up for herself, though I don’t know why it took her so damn long 🙂 I love her and Cade as a couple, though it was  sudden, sometimes these things happen 🙂
Cade is a magnificent HAWT piece 🙂 Seriously, I want one! Wolfy parts and all. He’s really kind, and he has this magnetic pull to his charm that can make anyone feel special. He’s also filthy rich, old, and sexy as hell! Plus, he’s only got eyes for Anna. And when her husband gets her caught up in the horrible human scum he’s troubled with, Cade is gunna do anything to keep her safe. I love his family, and I love that they give him a really hard time. It’s quite funny, I found myself laughing at them a lot.
I like the little mystery thrown in there about Anna’s horrible ex husband and his problems. I like that we get to see the brothers that are werewolves, and a vampire  whom I believe is going to be a fun little side part of this series, and of course we get to see and hear all about the wonderful world of fabulous food from NOLA! Yes I am all about my food! 😉 LOL So, if you are looking for some fun southern werewolf romance, this one is for you! I loved it and I can’t wait for the next brother’s book!! 🙂 5 WOLFY PAWS!!!
