• This novel contains mature content and it not intended for younger readers.

This is the beginning of a story… the story of two people who were meant to be together. Why? Because unknown to them, they shared terrifying pasts and the cruel circumstances of their births doomed both of them to a life of hell.

Two strangers … one night … one accidental meeting that changed their lives forever.

Gabriella Martinelli, Manhattan psychiatrist had only one goal in life—to help abuse victims avoid the horrors she’d experienced herself. She worked late, volunteered, and donated her services to anyone who needed them. Life was good … until her nightmare resurfaced. He found her, and began stalking her, and she knew he wouldn’t stop until he destroyed every ragged piece of her.

Kolson Hart, Manhattan’s most eligible bachelor, was ruled by his dark past. He liked control, from the boardroom to the bedroom and didn’t care to be involved with someone whose life was just as screwed up as his was. But one look at Gabriella short-circuited everything. Want … desire … need … will sometimes drive a man to do things he swore he never would.

He freed her from a life of fear … When he couldn’t even save himself.

Dreamcast for Freeing Her

So… my usual go to star for any character I write is Chris Hemsworth because he is so drool-worthy that it’s impossible for me not to think about him when I write. But when I penned Freeing Her, for some odd reason, I had some other hot dude on my mind. And it wasn’t anyone I had seen before. I sort of conjured up this figure of awesomeness so when it came time to pick a dreamcast, I was running around freaking out thinking, “WhatthehellamIgonnadoooooo?????”

So, I did what all sneaky authors do. I posted an SOS on my street team page … a desperate plea for help. And I was rewarded with all kinds of stupendous hawtness, covering the page from top to bottom, making my body tingle and my upper lip sweat.

But then I thought, “WAIT!!!! There are too many! I can’t choose from these! They’re all PERFECT! Now WhatthehellamIgonnadoooooo????”

Well, I’ll tell you what I did. I put it out, once again to my trusty street team, to vote. And, voila, here’s what they chose.

  1. …………

The choice for Kolson Hart is:

Stephen Amell

kolson hart

And now for the role of Gabriella Martinelli. For some reason, the choice for her wasn’t as difficult. She was the perfect fit, but again, I needed my street team. When it came to picking the perfect one—that one that would fit, I drew a blank. So I threw it out to them and they threw Ashley right back to me and I was—OH MY GOD. PERFECT!!! I wrote Gabriella to match her.

And now …

  1. … Ashley Greene

gabriella martinelli

As for the secondary characters, I’ll just let you use your imaginations. Now I hope when you read Freeing Her and Freeing Him, you see Stephen and Ashley as the perfect couple for Kolson and Gabriella! Happy reading.

AM Hargrove Bio:

A.M. Hargrove

PastedGraphic-11One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, A. M. Hargrove, realized her life was on fast forward and if she didn’t do something soon, it would quickly be too late to write that work of fiction she had been dreaming of her whole life. So, she rolled down the passenger window of her fabulous (not) company car and tossed out her leather briefcase. Luckily, the pedestrian in the direct line of fire was a dodge ball pro and had über quick reflexes enabling him to avoid getting bashed in the head. Feeling a tad guilty about the near miss, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what lap top out the window. She breathed a liberating sigh of relief, picked up her cell phone, called her boss and quit her job. Grinning, she made another call to her hubs and told him of her new adventure (after making sure his heart was beating properly again).

So began A. M. Hargrove’s career as a YA/NA and Adult Romance writer. Her books include Kissing Fire, Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge, the series the Guardians of Vesturon (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, Beginnings and reEmergent), Dark Waltz, Tragically Flawed, Tragic Desires, and Exquisite Betrayal.

Other than being in love with being in love, she loves chocolate, ice cream and coffee and is positive they should be added as part of the USDA food groups.

(If you’re wondering, it didn’t happen EXACTLY that way, but….)

You can also find her on Goodreads as Emerson St. Clair. Her novella series, Dirty Nights, is available and those are a little dark, a little erotic and a lot sexy!

EXCERPT:

I didn’t recognize the name on the street sign. Nothing about the rural road looked familiar or

friendly. Tall, imposing trees and overgrown weeds choked the front of the dilapidated home.

Windows were boarded up. There was a gaping hole where the front door had been. I shivered,

wanting to be far away from here…wherever here was.

Walking felt harder than it should be, and I stumbled off the chilly asphalt, wincing as

sharp gravel dug into my feet.

My bare feet?

I stopped and looked down. Chipped pink nail polish peeked through the dirt…and blood.

Mud caked the legs of my pants, leaving the hems stiff. It made sense, seeing as how I wasn’t

wearing any shoes, but the blood…I didn’t understand why there was blood staining the knees of

my jeans.

My vision clouded and dulled, as if a gray film had been dropped over my eyes. As I

stared at the weathered asphalt under my feet, large and smooth rocks replaced the tiny stones.

Something dark and oily seeped over the rocks, slipping through the cracks.

Sucking in a sharp gasp, I blinked and the image was gone.

Hands trembling, I raised them. They were also covered with dirt and scratches. My nails

were broken, bloodied. A silver ring wrapped, encased in soil, around my thumb. Air froze in my

chest as my gaze crawled over my arms. The sleeves of my sweater were torn, revealing pale

flesh covered in bruises and gashes. My legs started to shake as I swayed forward. I tried to

remember how this had happened, but my head was empty—a black void where nothing existed.

A car drove by, coasting to a stop a few feet in front of me. Somewhere in the trenches of

my subconscious, I recognized the flashing red and blue lights as a source of safety. Elegantly

scrawled along the black-and-gray side of the cruiser were the words ADAMS COUNTY SHERIFF’S

DEPARTMENT.

Adams County? A flash of familiarity came and went.

The driver’s door opened, and a deputy stepped out. He said something into the radio on

his shoulder before he looked at me.

“Miss?” He started around the cruiser, taking tentative steps. He looked young for a

deputy. Barely out of high school and able to carry a gun seemed wrong somehow. Was I in high

school? I didn’t know. “We’ve received some calls into dispatch concerning you,” he said

gently. “Are you okay?”

I tried to respond, but only a hoarse squeak came out. Clearing my throat, I winced as the

motion scratched and pulled. “I…I don’t know.”

“Okay.” The deputy held up his hands as he approached me, as if I were a skittish deer

about to bolt. “My name is Deputy Rhode. I’m here to help you. Do you know what you’re doing

out here?”

“No.” Knots formed in my belly. I didn’t even know where here was.

His smile strained. “What’s your name?”

My name? Everyone knew their name, but as I stared at the deputy, I couldn’t answer his

question. The knots started twisting more. “I don’t…I don’t know what my name is.”

He blinked, and the smile was completely gone. “You don’t remember anything?”

I tried again, concentrating on the empty space between my ears. That was how it felt.

And I knew that wasn’t good. My eyes started to tear up.

“Miss, it’s okay. We’ll get you taken care of.” He reached out, lightly taking hold of my

arm. “We’ll get this sorted.”

Deputy Rhode led me around the back of his cruiser. I didn’t want to sit behind the

Plexiglas, because I knew that wasn’t good. Only bad people sat behind the glass in police

cruisers. I wanted to object, but before I could say anything, he settled me into the seat and

wrapped a coarse blanket around my shoulders.

Before he locked me in the bad part of the car, he knelt and smiled reassuringly.

“Everything’s going to be okay.”

But I knew he was lying, trying to make me feel better. It didn’t work. How could

everything be okay when I didn’t know my own name?

ABOUT DON’T LOOK BACK:

Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all—popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it’s one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took “mean girl” to a whole new level, and it’s clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She’s getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she’s falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her—even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn’t just buried deep inside of Sam’s memory—someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

“This engrossing thriller packs a heady atmospheric punch with plenty of theatrical scares,” Kirkus Reviews

“Armentrout has written another winner. From the first page to the last, she builds both terror and confusion to the point where readers will be hooked and on the edge of their seat. This standalone contains all of Armentrout’s usual trademarks– a strong and determined heroine, witty comments and hot guys–but she adds in an extra layer by ratcheting up the suspense to the highest degree and follows it up with an ending no one will see coming.” RT BOOK REVIEWS 4 1/2 Stars TOP PICK

The Deep End of the Sea Review!

I am thrilled to say THE DEEP END OF THE SEA BY HEATHER LYONS is fantastic!! I am so excited because this book is wonderful. I owed a review and now I get to show you!

The Deep End of the Sea

THE DEEP END OF THE SEA Synopsis:

What if all the legends you’ve learned were wrong?

Brutally attacked by one god and unfairly cursed by another she faithfully served, Medusa has spent the last two thousand years living out her punishment on an enchanted isle in the Aegean Sea. A far cry from the monster legends depict, she’s spent her time educating herself, gardening, and desperately trying to frighten away adventure seekers who occasionally end up, much to her dismay, as statues when they manage to catch her off guard. As time marches on without her, Medusa wishes for nothing more than to be given a second chance at a life stolen away at far too young an age.

But then comes a day when Hermes, one of the few friends she still has and the only deity she trusts, petitions the rest of the gods and goddesses to reverse the curse. Thus begins a journey toward healing and redemption, of reclaiming a life after tragedy, and of just how powerful friendship and love can be—because sometimes, you have to sink in the deep end of the sea before you can rise back up again.

Release Day Excerpt:

“Where are Hades and Persephone?” I ask, glancing around the empty living room. They are nowhere to be seen tonight; neither are any of the Automatons.

The corner of Hermes’ mouth quirks. “Out. Possibly in the Underworld. One never knows with those two.”

Relief unfurls in the muscles in my shoulders. Still, I can’t help but ask, “Without saying goodbye?”

He’s definitely amused. “Shall I fetch them for you?”

“No!” My answer is too quick, which I fear broadcasts just how ecstatic I am at the thought of being along with Hermes right now. And that realization causes me to blush for the millionth time around him in the last month, so I clarify, “Of course not. I was just curious.”

“Curiosity killed the cat, you know.” To my delight, his hand finds mine and our fingers intertwine. It is a delicious sensation: his hand, warm and worn in mine in just such a way that feels like it’s an extension of my body.

It must be criminal to adore touching someone so much.

“Did it, though?” I ask, and he laughs a burst of exasperated air.

“Possibly, but then again, who am I to judge, when I am often struck by curiosity that I cannot help but sate?” He gives me that dazzling grin of his and pulls me through the house. “Case in point: you.”

“Me?” I squeak unattractively. There are lights ahead through the French doors leading to the patio, and I am curious myself enough to wonder what they are, but not nearly as much as I am for what he might mean.

“Yes, you.” He glances back at me. “I’ve never told you that I was overcome with curiosity when I heard Athena cursed some girl from one of her temples. It wasn’t like it was the first time she’d gone vindictively bonkers, but she was really put out over you. I mean . . . one of her followers? Even that was low for her.” His fingers squeeze mine gently and we stop about twenty feet from the doors. “When I first showed up on your island . . .”

I am helpless at looking anywhere but in his eyes. Tonight, they’re green. Vivid, beautiful, clear green. “Yes?”

“I’d been warned that you were a monster and that I best keep my distance. That you would slay me at the slightest provocation, and naturally, I believed it, as I could not blame anyone’s hatred toward my family after what my sister and uncle had done to you. But once Death handed me that first soul and departed, I heard you crying. My curiosity inflamed tenfold. What kind of so-called monster weeps like her heart had shattered and never would form whole again?”

Like clockwork, my cheeks burn. His fingers brush my reddened skin ever so gently before I turn my face to rest in his hand. The butterflies in my chest swarm frantically. “My sister misjudged you. I knew that the very second I heard your anguish. I’m afraid I was lost to you from that moment on. I had to discover all that made you you, even if I would suffer the same fate as the proverbial cat. And I never cared about the risks, as long as my curiosity about you was sated first.”

“Truly?” The word barely escapes my lips.

His eyes are so intense. “Truly.”

My Review 🙂
I am blown away by this one. One of the best takes on mythology I’ve ever read! It’s heart breaking and on top of that is heart wrenching but it’s also a wonderful take of hope and love and friendship!

Medusa was once beautiful, now she isn’t, or so she thinks. And 2000 years ago the unthinkable happened. She was blamed for her own assault and then cursed. She never got over that assault. But she did grow into a beautiful soul. Like when she accidentally turns people to stone, she cried and names them and kept them clean and polished. It’s kind of pitiful. And she loves her snakes like pets as they are the only beings she can see and be around and the give her comfort. She’s also terrified of all gods because they are the ones who did this, even when she worshipped them. But then she meets Hermes, and a blind fisherman named Mikkos. Those friendships are absolutely wonderful! And they show just how good of a person Medusa really is.

The Greek Gods are so damn spiteful. Look Hades, Persephone, and a few others make the exception. They were wonderful to her. Aphrodite especially is a favorite 🙂 But Athena an Poseidon, ugh!!! Horrible, down right retched! Freaking CRAZY ya hear! But Hermes has loved her, both when she was human and when she was monstrous in appearance. And there are those in the pantheon who also seek to help right the wrong done to Medusa. And once something is done to help Medusa from her curse, threats and ominous things reign down on her. Suddenly she is needing protection around the clock.

The plot is absolutely perfect. You realize how much the games of the gods effect so many, usually harming innocents. The writing is magnificent. It was so damn hard to put this book down, so I recommend reading it when you have the time! Lol and the emotions I felt are spectacular. I swear I felt every single one described and I so cried! Oh yeah! And it totally has a wonderful epic ending with a surprise twist that blew my mind! Like woah!!! A MAGNIFICENT ABSOLUTELY STUNNING 5 PAWS!!!

Guess what! I have a totally awesome new book for you to read! And of course I wanted to show you all the goodies for it! Now let me tell you all about it 🙂

desecration_book_1_440x680 (3)

Desecration: The Wizard Queen at Sixteen Synopsis:

In a hidden world of wizards where only men hold the power of magic, one girl arises with the power to change everything, if she isn’t killed first…

Adriana Victoriana Evangelista (Addie), daughter to the High Chancellor of the Wizard’s Council, has always been the perfect wizard girl. She never questions why men possess magical powers and women have no power at all, magical or otherwise. Male wizards blend into the modern human world, leading huge corporations while wizard women are sequestered away.

On her sixteenth birthday, Addie discovers she possesses magic. Under wizard law, she is a desecration. An ancient prophecy surrounds the emergence of a girl magic-wielder, the wizard queen, who is destined to bring about the downfall of the wizard-kin.

Addie has long had a forbidden crush on a human boy who lives in the wizard stronghold, Rory Devlin. As she delves deeper into the dangerous mysteries surrounding her own destiny, she suspects Rory might be more than just human. Addie’s fate sends her straight into the path of a powerful and evil sorcerer, but the worst danger of all may come from right inside her own home.

My Review:

Holy Moly! I didn’t want this one to end! It’s a fantastic new world of wizards and amazing friendships and the true meaning to an evil twin 🙂 the wizard world has just made a new discovery and Addie is gunna rock your world!

So, Addie is your modern day goodie two shoes. Her father is the “president” of the wizards, yeah call him that, and in his mind, men are powerful and women do as they are told, which is to not have magic and give more baby wizards. Except on her birthday, Addie does magic and then is terrified and does everything in he power to hide it. I feel bad for Addie a lot. To know your family won’t help you is horrible, but she has some great friends and she’s also learning that being a goodie two shoes oblivious to everything is not helping either. I loved her character. I totally loved her familiar. I extremely loved her friends!

Izzy is the best bestie ever, and he’s so ready to revolt and mutant against these stupid cave men wizards and their rules! I love her! Hugo is very cool and I know he has a rough road ahead of him but with Addie as his friend I believe he’ll get a happy ending too! Rory is HAWT!! Oh boy with him as the romantic interest he has me swooning all over!! The characters in this story are so lively! I feel like I know them.

there’s so any sides to this story. It’s a coming of age, finding out who you are story. It’s a mystery. It’s a suspense. It’s paranormal! And it’s funny!! I loved it and I’m so very ready for more! The writing is so easy and made everything come together flawlessly. And thank you for that “The End but not really” statement because I almost cried thinking there wouldn’t be more! I any wait to see where Addie will go, who she’ll meet along the way, and what’s going to happen when she gets back! Please don’t make me wait for tooling before you give me more!! Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she’s crushed on since forever.

Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she’s not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn’t an issue, considering Roth has no soul.

But when Layla discovers she’s the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

BARNES AND NOBLE

Anomaly Teaser 3

EXCERPT:

“So …” One of his fingers tucked a strand of blond hair behind my ear. “How are you feeling?”

I didn’t know how to answer that question. “Completely uneven, though my balance is better than ever,” I admitted. How long would it take to get used to the new me? Would I ever? Drawing breaths out of habit rather than necessity? The air still pulled in and out of my lungs, though I no longer needed it to survive. If I made a conscious effort to stop the repetitive act, no pressure built in my chest, no dizziness threatened my consciousness.

I would never grow old or die by natural means. My face, my hair, my body would never change. Not again anyway.

“Is it a good feeling?” Caden’s fingers clasped my hand, his thumb rubbing over the meaty part of my palm. I closed my eyes and tipped my head back, reveling in the sensation, like an all-consuming itch finally scratched. Since waking, the urge to be in constant physical contact with Caden had been almost overwhelming. It was as if my skin had been stripped back, exposing every nerve ending. Only it didn’t hurt.

Far from it.

It was a euphoria I’d never experienced and I couldn’t get enough.

Cracking an eyelid to peek at him, I caught a smirk that told me he could sense my reaction to his touch, though I knew that’s not what his question referred to. “I don’t know. How am I supposed to feel?” My new life had begun mere hours ago, when I woke on a dank dirt floor to a world of possibilities. And unpleasant anticipation. “I guess I’m just … waiting for the inevitable.” For the uncontrollable urge to kill to hit me.

Despite other distractions competing for my attention, that anxiety lingered like a vicious thorn. Sofie promised me that it was only a matter of time until the first human crossed my path and tested my control. And she also promised me that I would have none.

I dreaded that.

I desperately wanted to skip over that part. Heck, I wanted to not need any blood to survive at all. I wanted to be immune to it.

But nothing I wanted had ever come easy so there was no reason to believe it would be different now.

“Yeah, so am I,” Caden whispered under his breath, a hint of wariness in his tenor. He followed it quickly with, “But how do you feel?”

How did I describe this? “Alive? I guess? Like I’m bursting with energy? Like I could run forever.” This strange bubble of something had taken up residence in the pit of my stomach. A ball of energy or thrill or eagerness. Or all three. I didn’t know what it was exactly but I was keenly aware of its presence, almost a tangible force inside, ready to explode. Perhaps that was the impending hunger?

RDL Banner

I am thrilled to say HAPPY BOOK BIRTHDAY TO THE DEEP END OF THE SEA BY HEATHER LYONS!!! I am so excited because this book is wonderful. I should know I am taking a break from reading it to write this post LOL. No worries, I will have a review up soon, because it’s GREAT! But for today, I wanted to share this one with you so you can get it or win it too!! Let me show you!

“Truly.”

BOOK SUMMARY:

A male Romance Author… a convention in Vegas… a female book blogger… a goal to lose her virginity… what happens when you mix all the above?

Fallon McKinley is headed to Vegas for the Wicked Wenches Romance Con and losing her virginity is only one of her goals. The other is to meet her favorite author of romance novels, R.T. Sinclair. What she doesn’t realize is that the sexy green-eyed god she rams into at the airport is the real R.T. When they keep running into each other, she’s shocked, but excited, because the attraction is irresistible.

Ryland Thomas Sinclair doesn’t want anyone to know his true identity. He’s the author that all women love, but everyone thinks he’s a female. He hides his persona behind the public face of his twin sister, keeping his own a secret. But after meeting the lovely Fallon, his intentions to avoid a relationship come to a screeching halt. She’s put an unwanted kink into his perfectly laid out plans. His unusual reaction surprises him because after a heart-shredding breakup a few years ago, he’s managed to avoid women at all costs.

Resisting Fallon becomes more difficult than he imagines. Soon things are spiraling out of control, until a major miscommunication has Fallon walking out of his home and his life. Will Ryland Thomas succeed in losing the woman he loves? Or can he win her back?

Excerpt:

Chapter One: Fallon

Ever since this bucket of metal called a plane left the ground, I’ve been asking myself if spending my last nickel on this trip will be worth it. Even though it means going without food at times, I stashed away every tip I earned to save for this. My mountain of debt is enormous, but then again, I keep telling myself, you only live once, right?

When the plane suddenly lurches, I know it’s going to roll completely over at any minute. I want to get off this carnival ride so badly I can taste it. My fingers tightly clench the armrest and I’m pretty sure if I ever deplane, my imprints will be left behind forever.

I feel a light patting on my arm and then I hear, “It’ll be just fine, dear. Those are only crosswinds from the desert. We always have those in Vegas.” The flight attendant announced moments before that we’ve been cleared for landing, but from the motion of the plane, I fear we won’t make it.

Glancing to my right, I see the tiny, elderly woman sitting next to me. My nerves are so shot, my attempt at smiling is an epic fail.

Fallon, sweetie, always remember to keep your chin up. Negative thoughts will only bring you down.

Dad’s words come back to me, a soothing balm to my tattered nerves and empty bank account. God, how I wish he were still here. I wouldn’t be in this damn mess of debt right now. It’s been six years, but sometimes the pain is so raw that it feels like yesterday.

“Honey, is this your first time flying?” The voice next to me breaks me out of my daydreaming.

“Hmm? Oh, yes, ma’am,” I squeak.

“Ah, I see. Well, this is all part of flying and very normal.”

“Really? I feel like I’m on a sideways Tilt-A-Whirl at the county fair.”

“Oh no, honey, this is smooth. I’ve been on some real doozies, I tell you. So what brings you to Vegas? Are you going to lose all your money to the slots?” she laughs.

“Huh?” My anxiety has me so edgy, I’m not following the conversation for a second and then it hits me. “Oh, no, ma’am. I’m here for the Wicked Wench’s Conference.” I don’t have a spare nickel to spend on the slots as it is.

She nods and eyes me for a second. “So, are you a Wench then?”

“Oh no! I’m a blogger,” I tell her, glad for the distraction from the chaotic flight.

The noise of the engines has picked up so she is leaning closer to me now, trying to hear. “A what? A booger?”

“No! Not a booger! A blogger!”

“Oh, a blogger. I’ve always wanted to see you girls dance. Do you have those fancy clicking shoes? Can you kick your legs high up in the air? I bet you can. You look like you could be limber like that.”

By the time I start to explain that I’m a blogger and not a clogger, the plane rolls to a stop and the seatbelt light goes off. For an elderly woman, she moves like lightening as she shoots out of her seat and flies down the aisle. I sit and stare at her with my mouth hanging open. Obviously she knows the ins and outs of flying much better than I do. I’m lost in the sea of shoving people as eager as I am to get off of that death trap.

As I’m pushed along the jetway, I finally emerge into McCarran International Airport. The place is huge! Taking a deep breath, I knock the monster of intimidation back and follow the signs to Baggage Claim, eager to meet my fellow book bloggers for the first time.

We are a gang of five that met online over our love for romance novels. We teamed up through Twitter first and then Facebook. As we found ourselves chatting and becoming friends, our interest in the same genre triggered the idea for us to start a book blog where we could review and post about our favorite books. I think it was Kat’s idea originally, but it took off like a forest fire in a Santa Ana wind.

We decided to celebrate our first anniversary by attending the Wicked Wenches Con in Las Vegas together. It would finally give us the chance to not only meet each other in person, but also some of our favorite authors of romance. Kat Graham, Amanda Cook, Mandy Henderson and Andrea Simpson are my partners, though I look at them as my family. They’ve done more for me in the last year than my mom has in the past five. Honestly, if they had purchased me a paper clip, they would’ve done more than my mom, however that’s another story.

I finally locate the conveyer belt thingy and watch for my bag when my phone dings. I look to see it’s a text from Kat.

Kat: I’m here. Are you?

Me: Yep…just waiting on my suitcase.

Kat: Where?

Me: Carousel #15

Kat: On my way!

Five minutes later, the bags start to roll down and mayhem ensues. I’ve never seen anything like it. From what I can tell that belt keeps going around in a big circle and eventually it’s going to get back to me again. I can’t figure out why those people are in such a frenzy over it.

Suddenly, I hear a giant screech followed by a squeal and turn around to see a blur with long, light brown hair flying towards me. It comes as no surprise that we both end up on the ground, hugging and laughing. As women tend to do, we find ourselves talking a mile a minute and eventually notice the area around Carousel #15 has cleared out and mine is the only bag still circling on the belt. We laugh for another few minutes before standing up to collect it.

Kat takes one look at my bag and breaks out in peals of laughter. She’s hugging her sides and bent over while I’m worried she’s going to topple on her head.

“Stop already!”

“I’m sorry, but damn, Fallon, where the heck did you get your luggage? From duct tape’s anonymous? You need to go to duct tape rehab.”

I shrug as I give Kat the evil eye, but then I break down in giggles. My suitcase does indeed look like something the Tin Man from The Wizard of Oz would carry since it’s mostly silver. Granted, underneath the strips and strips of tape, there is a black bag somewhere, yet I’ll be damned if I can see it now.

“Okay, you win. It is awful, isn’t it? I didn’t have a choice, though. It was either that or less money for shooters and the shooters won.”

Kat nods. “Excellent choice. Come on, let’s go hunt down Amanda.”

We head out of Carousel #15 and don’t have to look far. Walking towards us and shouting at the top of her lungs is a gigantic hot dog nestled inside of a bun, complete with squiggles of mustard and ketchup. The only thing human about it is the face and it’s yelling out, “Where’s the Virgin for Vegas? Where’s the Virgin for Vegas? Have I got a wiener for you!”

I take one look at her and do a one-eighty with the intention of running away. However Kat grabs my wrist before I get the chance. “Oh, no you don’t. You have to take this like a woman!”

“Oh my God. You can’t do this to me!” I’m ready to drop to my knees and beg.

“Oh, yes we can! Now smile and look pretty,” she laughs.

I can’t believe this. What are they doing? Amanda approaches, dressed up like a fully loaded hot dog and hands me a tequila shooter. “How ‘bout a nice shooter for the Vegas Virgin?”

At this point, I down the tequila and want to crawl inside my bundle of duct tape. “Please, you all. Don’t do this.” I frantically look around to see if anyone’s watching.

“We’re not doing anything except for kissing that dreadful virginity of yours good-bye,” the wiener announces.

“Shit, shit, shit!”

“Don’t worry, Fallon. It’ll get better with more tequila,” Kat assures.

I poke out my arm and say, “Then give me some more and make it fast.”

Amanda hands me another shooter. “How ‘bout a nice, juicy wiener to go along with that, ma’am?”

“Oh, dear God.” If anyone ever died of embarrassment, I was sure it would be me. Like right this minute!

Kat puts her hand on my face. “Amanda, I think we need to cool it. Her face is on fire and I’m not sure if it’s the tequila or you.”

“It’s her.” I grab my hunk of duct tape and march straight outside.

Behind me I can hear, “Little Virgin, wait up. Little Virgin, we have to meet Mandy and Andrea!”

I frenetically wave my hand behind my butt. Right now, I only care about one thing and that’s getting away from the giant wiener that’s determined to get me drunk on tequila shooters and announce to the world that I’m a ‘Little Virgin’. I continue to shoo them away as I turn to check if they’re following me when I barrel into something quite firm and hard that sends me flying flat on my ass. The concrete is scorching and my thighs instantly feel like fried eggs hitting the frying pan on sizzling butter.

“Aiyee,” I scream as I try to stand back up. By this time my ass is in the air as I roll to my hands and knees. Now my palms and knees are on fire. “Dammit! Shit, that’s hot!” I say as I jolt to my feet, arms flailing while I try to straighten my skirt.

I finally glance up to find two, deep, emerald green eyes gazing at me. Well, that’s not exactly true. They’re slowly scanning me from top to bottom until they then stop and lock onto my cleavage. The reason for this is that my left nipple is more than half exposed. Okay, it’s completely exposed.

“Oh fuck!” I squeal as I tug my bra up and adjust my top. Why does this crap always happen to me?

I look back to see that Amanda and Kat are just awestruck. Not at me, but at green eyes because, glory-freakin-hallelujah, he’s one beautiful man. And why wouldn’t he be? Only I would fall down, ass in the air, boob hanging out in front of a gorgeous man. It wouldn’t happen in front of a wrinkled up, old, toothless man. Nope, never. I go for full on nipple exposure with the well-built, rugged, green-eyed blond that looks like a sex god, orgasmic-producing Eden.

“I’m sorry,” I say. “Forgive me. I should watch where I’m going.”

“Are you all right?” he asks and then scrapes his teeth across his lower lip right before he bites down on one corner.

Holy-put-my-panties-in-a-wet-wad! That voice and mouth. Green eyes has a sexy British accent to match the rest of his perfect self. Heart meet pink sparkly toe nails.

My head tilts a bit, as if I’m trying to figure out what he just asked me. “Huh?”

“I asked if you were okay. You took a good fall there on your bum. Just wanted to know if all was okay there?”

Somehow my hand starts unconsciously rubbing my butt. “Oh. Yeah, I guess so. All’s good on the bum here.” My voice has gotten all throaty on me.

Tall with unruly dark blond waves falling over his forehead, he stands there and stares at me. Then those magnificent orbs slowly rake me from head to toe again. Even though it feels like it’s a hundred and fifty degrees in the Las Vegas August heat, chills break out over my entire body. Every single hair—even the microscopic ones that I so diligently try to keep waxed—stand at attention, reminding me of their existence. An overwhelming urge to grab and kiss this hunk of sexiness charges into me, and I have no idea who he is. I can’t stop ogling his face… his bottom lip is full, and when he runs his tongue along it, I have to clamp my lips together to keep myself from moaning.

“So it looks like you’re here for a visit then?”

“Yes, a long weekend.” My voice still sounds funny to me, all husky and throaty.

“Well, perhaps I’ll see you around the strip then.” And again, those magnetic greens of his inspect me from head to toe. “Have a nice day then,” I hear him say.

I can’t move. I’m as still as a marble statue until the girls each grab one of my arms.

“If Vegas is full of those, I’m never going home,” the giant wiener claims.

We walk back inside to meet the other two of our gang, while I’m still addled by my encounter with green eyes.

***

We collect Andrea and Mandy and then seek out our transportation to the hotel. As we wait in line for the bus to take us there, the chills I had earlier have morphed into rivulets of sweat as they stream down my body. Not a single thread of my clothing is dry. This place is a freaking oven. When they talk about desert heat, they aren’t kidding. The only good thing to come out of it is Amanda had to ditch the giant wiener outfit. I think she would’ve died if she hadn’t.

“Did you all realize it was gonna be this damn hot? I feel like I’m in Hell,” Andrea says.

“Hell can’t be this hot, and if it is, well then, I’m gonna start really doing some serious prayin’ cuz you all, this is crazy!” I say. “I think I just sweated off my right butt cheek.”

Our bus finally shows up and we about knock the other people over to get on board. I’m ashamed to admit I’m not sorry in the least for that ghastly behavior of mine. It’s either that, or walk around with only one butt cheek, and the way I am thinking, it will be really hard to lose my virginity with only one butt cheek.

At least the ride to the hotel doesn’t take very long. When we pull up to it, though, we’re kind of disappointed. “Well, they sure made it look a lot nicer online,” Andrea harrumphs.

We all agree with her, but there isn’t anything to do except go inside and check in. So that’s what we do.

The lobby is a bit outdated and has a space odyssey look to it, but it’s clean with a casino and bar. What more can we ask for, right? The other nice thing is it is only a couple of blocks from the conference and all the cool hotels. The Space Nugget will do just fine for the next five days.

We had booked two adjoining rooms so we could share two bathrooms. The rooms are tidy, but they’re seriously lacking in decor.

“Well, it’s clean and cool and what do we care about anything else, right?” Mandy asks.

“Yeah, it’s not like we’re gonna be in here a lot anyway,” Kat replies. “I’m happy if the air conditioning works.”

So we all unpack and decide what to do that night. The convention kicks off in the morning, so that leaves tonight open. Tomorrow night is our big party with R. T. Sinclair.

Everyone starts tossing around ideas of what to do and our excitement mounts. We’re in the world’s largest adult playground and we have a plethora of places to choose from.

Amanda has a look in her eye that I’m beginning to understand. She once talked about hitting the male strip clubs and I’m all for that, but right now my stomach is telling me it wants some food. I’m relieved to hear her say, “Hey, what do y’all say we hit the town? Grab a little food, hit a casino and then do some shooters!” she shouts.

Everyone is on board with her suggestion, so we all get ready for our first night out on the town.

My Review:
Now I know contemp romance is not normally my favorite, BUT sometimes I make exceptions for my friends… And I LOVE when I love those exceptions. I already know I love Ms A’s paranormal works, so I figured I’d give it a go. And it was a SMOKING HOT RIDE! 🙂 plus, the whole author meets book blogger was just too good to pass up. Lol!

Rylan, aka RT, Sinclair is your typical male author…. Or maybe not. He writes romance, so he uses a pen name, and then makes his sister appear as him. Hell, he’s HAWT so he should take all the pictures. But he’s of course very anti commitment. And as a typical male, he’s also a jerk sometimes.

Fallon is great. She’s a fighter, and never gives up. And she has a not so lovely mother. But Fallon is also selfish and a little bratty, and demanding. She’s decides to take a trip to meet her favorite author. And then she keeps meeting up with Rylan. And boy do that have some HAWT reactions to each other 🙂 but it’s not the whole love at first sight, more like lust lol and just like normal people, their communication skills with each other suck lol which makes it so much more real.

This was such a fun story. Everyone felt real to me. And there’s some great secondary characters. It’s well written, which I expected 🙂 great fun and wonderful steamy romance 🙂 Ooooh Ms A, you did really good here 🙂 a 4.5 STEAMY AWESOME ROMANTIC PAWS!!

Author Information

A.M. Hargrove

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what laptop out the window.

Her books include the following: Edge of Disaster, Shattered Edge and Kissing Fire (The Edge Series); The Guardians of Vesturon series (Survival, Resurrection, Determinant, reEmergent and Beginnings); Dark Waltz and Tragically Flawed.

Other than being in love with writing about being in love, she loves chocolate, ice cream and coffee and is positive they should be added as part of the USDA food groups.

EXCERPT:

Moving lightning fast, Dez shifted and I was suddenly
underneath him. His arms were on either side of my head, caging me in. Our
bodies didn’t touch, but I felt him to the tips of my toes anyway.

The teasing grin disappeared when I dragged in a deep breath and my chest
brushed his. Everything changed in an instant. The playful mood faded, replaced
by primal heaviness. Our gazes collided and locked. Neither of us moved. His
closeness sent a series of shivers skittering across my skin and made it hard
to take slow, even breaths. My body tensed when his gaze dropped to my mouth.

He tilted his head to the side. “I… I honestly have no idea what we were
talking about.”

“Good. Neither do I.”

He shifted his weight onto one arm, bring him closer. “Have you enjoyed your
trip so far?”

“Yes.” I felt as if I couldn’t get enough air into my lungs.

“Good.” He lowered his head. His breath was minty as it moved across my cheek
and then my lips. “I’m glad.”

I wasn’t really following the conversation and I wasn’t sure that he was fully
aware of what was coming out of his mouth. I searched my hazy brain for
something to say and wet my lips. I-

The sound that came out of Dez’s chest rumbled through me. A stuttered heartbeat
passed and then his lips were on mine. There was nothing slow about this kiss.
It scorched my skin and caused my body to stretch tight like a bowstring. The
kiss deepened, spinning my senses. I shuddered when his hand curved over my
shoulder and drifted down to my waist, his long fingers spreading out under the
hem of my shirt, grazing the bare skin of my stomach.

I gasped, floored by the raw sensations pounding through my blood. My skin felt
as if I was about to phase. Maybe I was.
“Jasmine,” he whispered, the word falling against my lips, and then his body
was pressing mine into the mattress, heavy, sweet and hard.

Author Information

A.M. Hargrove

One day, on her way home from work as a sales manager, A. M. made a speedy turn down a deserted side street before tossing her crummy, outdated piece-of-you-know-what laptop out the window.
