ARC Review~Cuz Jenn Bennett is Stellar

Summoning the Night (Arcadia Bell, #2)

Hello everyone! Today I am so excited to say that TOMORROW IS THE RELEASE DATE FOR SUMMONING THE NIGHT!! this is the second book of the Arcadia Bell series! Ms. Jenn Bennett was so awesome and allowed me to read this as an ARC for review… THANKS SO MUCH!!! I will also say, holy crap-i-zoly, it was fantastic… Not like I expected any less, but there is something about this series that just makes me all mushy inside 🙂 Before I start my review there are a few things I would like to show you…

After narrowly escaping her fate as a sacrificial scapegoat, Arcadia Bell is back to normal. Or at least as ordinary as life can be for a renegade magician and owner of a tiki bar that caters to Earthbound demons. She’s gearing up for the busiest day of the year—Halloween—when a vengeful kidnapper paralyzes the community.

The influential head of the local Hellfire Club taps Cady to track down the fiendish bogeyman, and now that she’s dating red-hot Lon Butler, the Club’s wayward son, she can hardly say no. Cady and Lon untangle a gruesome thirty-year trail of clues that points to danger for the club members’ children. But locating the person behind the terror will require some metaphysical help from Cady’s loyal bar patrons as well as her potent new Moonchild powers—and she’d better figure it out before the final victim disappears and her own darkest secret becomes her biggest enemy.

Also, this is DIRECTLY FROM JENN BENNETT’S WEBSITE ( GO THERE AND CHECK OUT MORE) but I loved that she put this up… I love to see a face with a character and she so sweetly put this for us to see…

Seriously, these are just fantastic, but make sure that you go check out everything else that Ms. Bennett has on her site here…

Here’s the video for the book release…

I’m sorry but that is just the coolest video EVER!! Seriously, I love love it!!! 🙂 I cannot help myself, I’ve watched it at least 20 times and I DO KNOW what’s going to happen 🙂 And so now, I guess it’s time for me to stop blabbering and start giving the goods LOL! Here we go…

There isn’t anyone who writes like Jenn Bennett-fierce, crazy, awesome, awe-inspiring, grade-A urban fantasy! I mean, her first book, Kindling the Moon, I fell in love with, but Summoning the Night was like the whole date package! There is everything in here-witches, demons, crazy children, mystery, magic, awesome tiki drinks, totally butt kicking action, hot sexy romance, and a side of fantastic! Ok, Ok, I’ll explain. The first book threw me for a total loop with the ending, I was NOT expecting that. Arcadia is literally still floating on crazy from those events. And all of a sudden she is thrust in the middle of a crazy psychopath’s way of kidnapping children, and that means Jupe could be in real danger. For someone who is so independent and closed, this is very hard for Arcadia. She has formed a bond with Jupe, as crazy as he is 🙂

There are some new characters you see in here, as well as some reoccurring characters from Kindling the Moon, and some characters gave me real whiplash with their true personalities coming out. It’s a mystery you’ll have to read to find out about. Normally, my favorite character is ALWAYS the main, which would be Arcadia, and I LOVE HER, seriously, like I would move in, but I have a big soft spot for Jupe as he is not only a pain in the rear, but hilarious, and he is who he is and he’s very cool with that! Teenagers normally make me crazy! LOL

The writing is just flawless and flows and it was a fast paced read for me… By this I mean, I read it all fast and couldn’t tell anybody, since I had to wait for closer to the release date to get all blabbery! This book has everything that makes me happy, so there’s no way I could give it a bad rating. And sometimes, when the first book captures so much of your heart, the second is a let-down. WELL, NOT HERE! Book two has me completely enamored of the talent Jenn Bennett possesses! I hear she’s possibly working on a few more things and I wanna throw popcorn at people I’m so excited! Monkeys throw poo, I throw popcorn-less smelly, it’s edible and doesn’t stain your close! LOL 🙂

To close off my review, I will say 2 things– 1. what the hell are you waiting for? GO GET THAT BOOK NOW! and 2. gimme gimme gimme gimme MORE! 🙂

Now on my last note, I will leave you with my favorite quotes, or two, from Kindling the Moon (I don’t wanna spoil anything for Summoning the Night)… here ya go…

“Arcadia,” Lon’s voice said from my phone. “Who is this?” I teased.
“You can’t take my son on a date.” “I didn’t ask him. He asked me.” “He stole my cell and called without permission.” “Sounds like a personal problem to me.” A low growling noise came out of the phone.”
Jenn Bennett, Kindling the Moon

“I stumbled through the dark underbrush again crying out as I plunged through a thick spiderweb. My arms frantically brushed away the clinging web as irrational fear made me batshit-crazy for a moment. Scared of a damn spider when a bloodthirsty demon was chasing me down. Ridiculous.”
Jenn Bennett, Kindling the Moon

I just love those two quotes 🙂 I can’t help but giggle out loud at both… Well, I hope you enjoyed my crazy person rant, and don’t forget to enter to win copies! Happy reading, thanks for stopping by, and later my reading gators!

my review on goodreads:

sorry guys, I couldn’t find it on Barnes & Nobles (yet) 🙂

and the author’s own favorite quote from the books : “Ghosts are a perfect example of how the human world is limited by its own knowledge. Your kind doesn’t believe in them because you can’t calculate the human spirit. But the spirit is just another form of energy that you haven’t been able to quantify yet.”

I also asked a question on my last blog post that a few have answered… so I thought you should like to see what was said 🙂

Jean S. says: ( she is a blog follower–yay for her!!)

I always like to know what other authors/books an author recommends (preferably in the same genre- urban fantasy, paranormal romance, young adult, etc.). I’ve found some authors I love through other authors.

Thanks so much Jean S. for this awesome question!! & Miss Tammy is Tammy Blackwell who wrote the Timber wolves series 🙂

Miss_Tammy says:

Oh! Let me! Let me! (Sorry. My day job is as a librarian. I get really excited about recommending other authors/books!)

YA paranormal/urban fantasy:
Kelley Armstrong
Cassandra Clare
Carrie Ryan
Samantha Young

Adult paranormal/urban fantasy:
Kelley Armstrong
Patricia Briggs (I also love Mercy, but I’m soooo excited about a new Charles & Anna book!)
Ilona Andrews (both series are great)
Nalini Singh (even if she put out a new book every week it wouldn’t be enough to keep me happy!)

Isn’t that just a fantastic list 🙂 thank you so much Miss Tammy!!!

so if you are an author… what do you like to recommend to read to your fans? feel free to post that answer 🙂

I wish you all a happy weekend and as always… Later my reading gators 🙂
