My Review
I don’t think I can say it enough, I LOVE THIS SERIES!! And I know I said this would be a 5 Paw review, but I lied… So, Ivy is back, and boy did she have a rough time with this one. And she still can’t touch anything without horrible visions, and she has a remarkably totally awesome HAWT boyfriend, and a whole lot of things trying to hurt her. And now, Jinx, her BFF and partner, is in serious trouble. Ivy is willing to give up almost anything, including her own life, to save her best friend. So, to keep Jinx from dying, Ivy literally gets beat up a whole lot in here, but you get to see what kind of person she is, and who is willing to come to her aid for it. Oh, and she owes people, scary people, for help in the past, and it seems that every single one of them wants her help, like right now!
This one had me biting my nails and seriously tired for Ivy LOL  Ok, so she needs to save Jinx, then somethings setting the whole town on fire, there’s a crazy Green Lady threatening her, and some vampers who are just dirty, all threatening things and people Ivy loves.
Be prepared to get shocked, and mad, and crazy, all at once! AND now that her powers are out and about, she has a price on her head. It has made for one of the best damn books I’ve read, EVER!  This one is action packed and full of mystery, as well as finally getting a glimpse into some romance for Ivy and Ceff. And hot damn if there are some majorly AWESOME fight scenes. You know I love when things blow up and people lose their heads, literally hahahaha 🙂 THRILLING is what I will call this one! And not just that, but Ivy has grown so much and I just wanna hug her, in a body suit so she doesn’t have visions of me. 🙂 Her and Jinx, and Kaye, and the brownie in the kitchen, and a funny gargoyle, and the teenage troll, and HAWT Ceff, and the mysteriously bad ass Torn, and Forneus the demon, and so many wonderful characters make this whole series completely necessary to life 😉
6 AMAZING, ACTION PACKED, GRITTY, DOWN AND DIRTY, BEAUTIFUL PAWS!! Because this book freaking earned all those paws! Ms Stevens I can’t WAIT for the next one!!! 🙂

My Review:

Can I start with… HA!!!! Don’t you just love the blurb? I’m sorry but I still giggle when I read it 🙂 And this is one of the coolest books ever. Yes we have the very awesome Ivy, and some favorite side kick characters, but have you ever wondered exactly what happened and in other’s point of view? Well that’s the great part! This book took a major event and broke it down in each character’s part. This was so cool!!

So, in the first part of the story, you meet the fairy who’s bound into a type of slavery, and she’d do anything to become free of her wrongful situation. You learn that this whole situation revolves around Puck. Yes, THE Puck! Boy of boy, is he a bad guy in here. You will also find out that a big time player in the Ivy series is making an appearance and I’ll put money that this means something big is gunna go down soon with her and it involves Ivy!

the second story is the vampire who uses Puck to get what he wants, and kill anybody who gets in his way. Look, I’ll be honest, the vampers in the series are my most favorite done well! They use a glamor to hide but a few can see how ugly they really are, and they really are not the nice guys. No glittering, no hugs and kisses, no late night dinners, unless the dust bag is eating you for dinner 🙂 this is one of my favorite parts of the book! Shall I sing “Dust in the wind” to explain my excitement!

the next two stories are directly involved with Ivy, Jinx, and out favorite demon loverboy! This is where you did out the big picture of the whole story. This is where you get the emotions from our favorite characters. This is where I drop my jaw, jump out my chair, and let out a few profanities. I can’t believe Ivy did that to Jinx! I can’t believe Mr HAWT piece Demon isn’t gunna kill over it! I can’t believe THAT finally happened AND it’s almost like it was erased…. Ooooooh this is gunna come back to haunt somebody, or bite something in the ass LOL!! And hot damn, I’m all in on the demon HAWT piece! I’m so very glad I got to see into that man’s head and now I’m thinking about everything but his head!

even though this is a short story, it reads like an extra fast, incredibly action packed novel. There’s so many supernatural beings in this new world created by Ms Stevens, so I love that they are being explored! And it was gritty, haunting, and how bout just out right good writing! I love this series! I’m totally thrilled that we get the short stories to keep us informed while we wait for the big ones 🙂 YES!!! GIMME GIMME SOME MO!! Yeah, my Cajun comes out when I get excited! 5 PAWS! It’s just too cool not to 🙂

Holidays are worse than a full moon for making people crazy. Holidays are Hell, a point driven home when a certain demon attorney returns with information regarding a series of bloody murders. Five Harborsmouth residents have been killed and every victim has one thing in common–they are fae. Whoever is killing faeries must be stopped, but they only leave one clue behind–a piece of mistletoe floating in a pool of the victim’s blood.

Ivy must go to Faerie, but the gateway to the Wisp Court is through Tech Duinn, the house of Donn–Celtic god of the dead. Just her luck.

Unable to share her secret with Jinx, and with Jenna called away on Hunters’ Guild business, Ivy must rely on Ceff and Torn to lead her to Death’s door, literally, and back again. As if that wasn’t dangerous enough, there’s no saying what horrors lay in store within the Faerie realm. Too bad the Wisp Court is the one lead Ivy has in the search for her father–and possible salvation.

Maybe hiding away and dodging sidhe assassins isn’t so bad after all…

Birthright is the fourth full-length novel in the Ivy Granger urban fantasy series.

Quotes:

“we also kindly direct you to Harborsmouth Cemetery Realty.  It’s never too early to contact them, since we have a booming “housing” market.  Demand is quite high for a local plot—there are always people dying for a place to stay.”

“Walking out into the night with a water fae was all kinds of stupid.  Heck, kelpies eat people.  They may not play with their food as creatively as the each uisge, but dead is dead.”

“A demon attorney may be high on the freak out scale, but I wasn’t letting my morning turn me to the dark side. They may have cookies, but I had a freakin’ unicorn.”

“If a faerie, a vampire, and a demon walk into a bar, you wait for the punch line. At Private Eye, when a faerie, a vampire, and a demon walk through the door, it’s just another day at the office.”

My Review:

I’m so in love with this series! Let me just say, that I AND Ivy got my wish in this book but I won’t tell you what it is, because you NEED to read this series yourself. All news twists, and fanatical crazy ex after Ivy, children going missing, exposing your new self to the Fae world, all the while getting to be with that HAWT piece of a Kelpie King. Seriously, you are missing out if you haven’t read this series!

Ivy is changing. She never wanted to touch ANYTHING because of her gift/curse. Now, she is willing to risk everything and touch almost anything to make sure she can save those kids. Her character is going through a wonderful growth and I am loving that I get to see it happen before my eyes. With her wisp background coming to light, and her figuring out a few things, it’s looking like it’s going to get crazy, which of course it does. And you also see that kids are Ivy’s weakness, and strength. She is willing to go through a serious amount of harm to save them. No matter the race, species, type, she will always put herself in harms way for kids. I love this about her. She has excellent morals 🙂

I must say, if Ceff wasn’t Ivy’s, I’d totally be fighting for him. Hands down he is just wonderful. I mean, I want him, but I will stand down gracefully because I have no chance. Ivy has earned Ceff’s love. And I am definitely rooting for them ALL THE WAY!!! GO Team Ivy & Ceff!!

I will also say that there are some excellent secondary characters. You get to see her witch friend, and Hobbs, and Marvin, and Jinx, and that wonderfully sexy Cat Sidhe king. He’s definitely an interesting addition. But all hands on deck for the bad guys! And for the crazy ex, Museline. I mean, she scares the crap outta me! I am creeped out to no end! Let me just tell you, that in order to fully get how cool this characters are, you’d have to read this series. You will NOT regret it. The plot is extremely well done. I thought I had it figured out, and then there’s always that little twist, that makes you realize you might have had an inkling to the end, but never the whole deal. It was very well done! I am definitely hooked, and the author has reeled me in, put me in her ice chest, and I am only waiting for my fish fry! LOL Hopefully I won’t have to wait too long for the next book. I am in serious need already of more Ivy and the gang!!! 5 EXCEPTIONALLY MAGNIFICENT PAWS!!!

With a vengeful lamia that only she can see on the city streets, reports of specters walking Harborsmouth cemeteries, and an angry mob of faerie clients at her office door, it’s bound to be a long night. Add in an offense against the faerie courts and a few foolish bargains and one thing is clear–Ivy Granger is in some seriously deep trouble.

Ivy Granger is back, gathering clues in the darkest shadows of downtown Harborsmouth. With the lives of multiple clients on the line, she’s in a race against time. Ivy finally has a lead to the whereabouts of the one person who can help her control her wisp abilities, but will she put the needs of her clients above her own?

If Ivy doesn’t find a solution soon, she could wind up a ghost herself.

Shadow Sight (Ivy Granger, #1)

Shadow Sight (Ivy Granger #1)

Welcome to Harborsmouth, where monsters walk the streets
unseen by humans…except those with second sight, like Ivy Granger.

Some things are best left unseen…

Ivy Granger’s second sight is finally giving her life purpose. Ivy and her best friend Jinx may not be raking in the dough, but their psychic detective agency pays the bills–most of the time. Their only worry is the boredom of a slow day and the occasional crazy client–until a demon walks through their door.

Demons are never a good sign…

A demon attorney representing the water fae? Stranger things have happened. And things are about to get very, very strange as a bloodthirsty nightmare hunts the city of Harborsmouth.

There’s blood in the water…

Kelpies have a reputation for eating humans. Unfortunately, Kelpies are the clients. When an Unseelie faerie this evil stalks the waterways of your city, you have to make hard choices.

The lesser of two evils…

My Review:
Holy crap, I’ve found a new series to obsess over!! It’s got the same old paranormal characters but this is a wholly unique take. I LOVED that. It’s so much fun and it’s got such a real element feel to it. There’s so many things to make it part of so many genres as well. It’s got the mystery for sure, as you are trying to figure out who to rescues, and how to rescue them, and who to go to for help and who the real bad guy is. It’s also ubran fantasy as there’s definitely got some really cool supernatural characters. And I think the heroine is my favorite as she isn’t your usual heroine. She’s more of the damsel in distress who is willing to sacrifice herself to help everyone else. 🙂
So, Ivy is a normal girl… except she can touch an object and see it’s past, as well as feel it. So, when someone is being hurt and she touches them, she relives it. She always wears gloves, she has a serious aversion to touch, and she lives like she’s in a bubble. She’s a smart girl, but she also has second sight, so she can see through the glamours of all the supernaturals walking around. I love that she is always asking for help. She knows she’s got no chance to do something of this magnitude on her own. She is also very real. She is always tired, she still needs to eat and pee, she has to save money to make rent and food. She is scared to death of the demon who walks into her office. You like her yet, cuz I love her. She’s also fiercely loyal and she will stand up to the big bad crazies to protect her friends even when she knows she has no chance.
I think her roommate Jinks is ultimately hilarious. I love her role in this series. She is the perfect best friend and business partner. Madame Kaye is the seriously ancient, very powerful witch that Ivy considers a friend. She also plays a vital role. But her little friend Hobs-who lives is Md. Kaye’s kitchen, and her huge friend Marvin the Bridge Troll, are two of my favorite characters to add. They made the story so much fun! This is like a paranormal version of the breakfast club hahahaha!!! The demon is Forneus is quite the different demon. He’s definitely got the hot for Jinx, he’s kinda nice, if not a bit smelly, and he’s actually willing to do REAL deals with Ivy and Jinx. Heh, I look forward to all of these characters in the future… And wait till you meet Cffyl!!! Totally HAWT! 🙂
The writing is fantastic. It starts out with the prologue telling you a little about their hometown. Then you proceed to learn about Ivy’s first “vision”. Poor kid. Then it’s like, woah there’s a demon in the office. Giggle. It’s a pretty nonstop crazy ride from there. The plot is awesome. The crazy scary bad guys are like freakishly scary. The emotions that come to play in here make it so real. I am all in with this new series! YES! GIMME MORE!!! I hope to see some more shape shifters, maybe a werewolf  in the future! Though with all the scary characters in here already, I’m scared to ask what kind of werewolves they would be 🙂 5 COMBUSTIBLE MYSTERIOUS FAE PAWS!!

Blood and Mistletoe (Ivy Granger, #1.5)

Blood and Mistletoe (Ivy Granger #1.5)

Holidays are worse than a full moon for making people crazy. In Harborsmouth, where many of the residents are undead vampires or monstrous fae, the combination may prove deadly.

Ivy Granger, psychic private investigator, returns to the streets of Harborsmouth in this addition to the bestselling urban fantasy series.

The holidays just got interesting. Too bad this case may drive Ivy mad before the New Year. Heck, she’ll be lucky to survive Christmas.

Blood and Mistletoe is an Ivy Granger series novella.

My Review:

This is a shorter version of an Ivy mystery. It’s no less relevant, as I about had a heart attack in this one! Dude, the bad guy in here is seriously scary! Like, I am thinking about hiding in my closet for a little while when I think about it. *shivers* I actually think this one is even better than the first one. Only because this one was a little more emotional for me. When Ivy realizes that there’s a crazy out and about killing Fae, she is seriously worried for her friends, as almost everyone is a supernatural of some sort, except for Jinx. I was really impressed with how this one played out. Plus, you get to see more of a character that had a very small role in the first book, but now I have a feeling will be a big part of this series in the future.

Jinx also plays a more hands on role, not only as business partner but for field work. I feel really bad when she goes to help Ivy and has to experience first hand some of the horrors of how Ivy’s “gift” works. Marvin also becomes a major player. He’s become the cutest thing ever. Even the Demon Forneus is growing on me, though I am still waiting for Jinx to skewer him! HA! I also think I will forever be staying away from Mistletoe! FOREVER! Jeez. I also think Ivy is growing, not only as a character, but she is embracing her “other” self, and she is trying. She’s also getting a little more brave. I absolutely cannot wait for Ghost Light to come out soon! Everyone needs to be checking this cool new series out! AND…. I seriously hope that the ending… “it” happens! I know that’s so vague, but just read it 🙂

5 Emotionally, mistletoe-loving, creeptastic PAWS!
