Book Description:

Can a kidnapped fairy and a human find love despite all odds? Nathan Alexander’s batty aunt has done it again. This time she’s sent him a rare plant he doesn’t want. Imagine his surprise when he finds a kidnapped fairy hidden within its leaves. As a man who heads a non-profit organization for abused women and children, Nathan makes it his mission to help her find her way home. All her life Katenia was warned about the evilness of humans. Never was that proved more true than when she was kidnapped from her quiet valley home. Thrust into the human world, Katenia must fight her very instincts to trust Nathan if she ever hopes to return to her rightful place…and to her normal thumb-sized fairy form. But with their lives in danger, finding home…and love…will be a journey worthy of a fairy tale.

Excerpt:

“Nathan? Are you alright? You look like you’re contemplating ways to kill me.” He opened his eyes and glared at her, even as he let out a shuddering laugh. “No, Katenia,” he gritted out through clenched teeth. “Killing you is not what is on my mind. I thought you said we would be a bad idea?” “I did,” she said, her beautiful face screwing up in confusion. “Pair-bonding between us would never work. Sex, however…sex is a very good idea.” Nathan nodded once, finally understanding. Ignoring the honking of the line of cars behind him, he rolled up one shirtsleeve and pinched his arm. “What are you doing?” she asked, her voice worried. He barked out a laugh when the pain did nothing to wake him from whatever dream he’d landed in. “Testing myself.” “Oh.” She sighed. “I don’t know what that means.” “I don’t, either, but considering I am not certifiable enough to have sex with a fairy, the only other logical conclusion is I’m dreaming.” “Oh,” she repeated, still sounding confused. “Are you dreaming?” He sighed and shook his head, accepting the facts laid out before him. “No. My whole world view has just been altered, but unfortunately, I am not dreaming.”

My Review

It was such a fun little novella. It’s a little shorter than a novel, and a little longer than a novella, and it’s perfect because it’s just so cute 🙂 It’s kinda like thumbellina, when the fairy gets kidnapped and sent to the human world and thank goodness she is rescued by a nice guy 🙂 And though it’s small, I wish it were a little more 🙂

So Kat is the little fairy, who maybe doesn’t have the best life in her world, but it’s still her life. And when she gets kidnapped then trapped in a flower and sent to a human, things get crazy. He’s a very attractive human, scary and still human. But she finds a way to get him to help her to go home. But then, does she really wanna go home now that she found Nathan and got to know him.

Nathan has his own demons, but he’s sweet, and has a temper, and is hawt, and is working extra hard to find a way to get cat home. But he doesn’t really wanna let her go. I would love to know more about his family as well, being that it was his family that started this whole mess. Especially his aunt who made me giggle. And a little more about how he fits into Kat’s world too.

The storyline is your happily ever after fairytale! I loved it. You have to work for that HEA but maybe just maybe you’ll get it. I really liked it and it is so easy to love it as a quick read. I definitely say if you want a sweet, hot, and fun, this one is yours! Such a great ride! WELL DONE! 🙂 4.5 FAIRY WINGS AND PAWS!

Author Interview

WELCOME!! First, tell me a little about your book :)….

Ever Mine is a modern day fairy tale romance novella very loosely based on the story of Thumbelina. Nathan, the CEO of a non-profit that shelters and protects abused women and children, has his life turned completely upside down when his batty aunt sends him an exotic plant with a kidnapped fairy inside. Thrust into the human world in a human body, Katenia has to come to grips with her new reality versus the only home she ever knew. Will she give everything up to be with Nathan, or will he lose her to a home he’ll never be able to see?

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated or did you always just know?

Honestly, I don’t remember when I decided I wanted to write. It was just a little thought in the back of my mind that grew over time until I decided to sit down once and see if I had any talent. Once I started putting words onto the page, I never stopped.

What inspired you to write your first book and what was it?

I just wanted to write. I had this image of a woman dancing and crying on a beach in Ireland, with the hero watching her as the storm raged around them. I don’t remember if I even finished it, but it was the first story I ever remember thinking I HAD to write.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?

The only experience I have that I regularly give my characters are my heroines are usually short. I’m only five foot, and it’s the only perspective I know, so it’s very rare when I have a tall heroine. I have no idea what that would feel like, and the few time I have been taller than someone, it just felt awkward to me.

How do you chose when/which characters die in your books?

Ugh, I hate killing characters, but for the most part, whenever it has to happen, they’ve been working toward that end from the beginning. There are certain characters my heroes will not allow to live, and as for killing off beloved characters… There’s always a reason. The more I torture a character, the more of a happy ending I have planned for them.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest?

Laura Kaye. I actually stalked her at RT Convention in New Orleans, determined to go home with some kind of promo from her. I love her Hard Ink books. Finally, my publisher texted me that she’d spotted Ms Kaye, and I hightailed it across the hotel just to meet her. And I got a hug!

Who do you look up to as a writer?

J.K. Rowling. I am certain that Severus Snape is one of the greatest characters to ever have existed on the page. The scope of his love for Lily, the things he’d done and risked and given up for her… just WOW.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your book?

No. I know that sounds cocky, but I love Katenia and Nathan and I think if I changed anything about the story, I’d change the heart of who and what they are, together and separately.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Um, writing. I’m a full-on procrastinator. I keep waiting for the words to just magically leave my head and show up on the page, but so far it’s just all wishful thinking.

What book are you reading now? Or what genre?

I haven’t started a new one yet. I just finished the second Hard Ink book by Laura Kaye, along with her new novella, Daring to Resist, but the stack on my nightstand and my TBR list on my Kindle are a little daunting at the moment. Especially since I should be editing.

Who designed the cover? And do you help with them?

The fabulous Renee Rocco. I mentioned that Katenia had white-blonde hair and dark green eyes, and she nailed it.

If you could be one of your characters, who would you chose?

Katenia, I think. Just because I’d love to explore the world through her eyes, and live in a world where magic exists.

Are there any books you think some of us should read, just because?

Did I mention Laura Kaye? Emma Weylin is also terrific, the first book in her Love Cursed series features a Valkyrie and the cursed son of Thor. Oh, and I recently finished Syphon’s Song by Anise Rae and thought it was wonderful.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

Thank you. Thank you for reading and loving these characters and stories as much as I do.
