Rivulet Blog Tour w Giveaway!

Rivulet by Jamie Magee

Expected publication: October 7, 2013

Unfathomable forces have always contested Genevieve Indiana Falcon, known as Indie. The curse of her cold touch entraps her just as the grief ignited in her past torments her. Yet, her mysterious ability to dream while awake saturates her in the belief that she was not always anguished. There is hope that one day a true peace in her soul can be found.

Foolishly, Indie assumes she has contained her life in an odd balance, and she cherishes the visions she sees of the enigmatic boy that held her in a lost time, but can never reach. She grieves for a life she fears she’ll never possess, and that grief is a weapon she uses against her aunt who stands between her and her inheritance.

Weeks away from her twenty-first birthday, the date where she would assume control over her family legacy, a night terror robs Indie of the balance she was clinging to. Like the dream she had before she lost her family, it predicts a fatal catastrophe on the horizon. The fight between life and death, good and evil, began the moment her thundering heart awoke her.

Everything changed after that dream. The one thing that keeps her curse at bay is stolen, and then the enigmatic boy arrives in the flesh. Face to face with her fiery born-again lover Indie realizes that the only way she can prevent the tragedy before her is to surrender everything she was, is, and could be.

Can she bend the laws of nature and fight the improbability that fire and ice could ever be one? As far as Indie is concerned, there is not a myth, spoken fate, or curse that is stronger than her stubborn desire to have it all … including him.

About Jamie

Jamie Magee has always believed that each of us have a defining gift that sets us apart from the rest of the world, she has always envied those who have known from their first breath what their gift was. Not knowing hers, she began a career in the fast paced world of business. Raising a young family, and competing to rise higher in that field would drive some to the point of insanity, but she always found a moment of escape in a passing daydream. Her imagination would take her to places she’d never been, introduce her to people she’s never known. Insight, her debuting novel, is a result of that powerful imagination. Today, she is grateful that not knowing what defined her, led her on a path of discovery that would always be a part of her.

My Review:
I was honored to be offered a copy of this book to review. I had heard some very good things about this author, so of course I had to jump right in.  This is a-pun intended- riveting story. It’s an easy read because the writing is well done, and most people will connect with the characters easily. Plus, I think a lot of people will like it if they’ve read anything by this author previously, though I haven’t, YET!
So the story starts with Indie, having a terrible dream, and when she wakes, you learn she has some “gifts” or maybe curses LOL, and that she’s not having the easiest or most comfortable life. She also has a, I’ll call her this for now, “fairy godmother” that appears, except without the gifts, she’s mainly there to try to “talk wisdom”. LOL Yes, I am leaving it spoiler free and vague on purpose. Things are complicated for her, but she knows she’s not crazy, and she also will NOT let anyone take her home or hurt her friends. I like her determination. I also like that she has a temper LOL But she has some cool friends who stick by her.
If I am to understand, this book will also coincide with her other series, again I haven’t read that yet, but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, so I vote it can be read without the others, though after I read those I may change my mind. LOL The plot is well written, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. The characters have excellent background and developement. And there are now some excellent characters and plot schemes to continue for the next book. I am seriously hoping somebody gets their “what’s coming” as bad guys should always have some kind of karma 🙂 I really enjoyed this one, and I hope you guys will take a look into it too. 4 PAWS!

I am a huge fan of Jamie’s work. Rivulet is her best story yet. She has outdone herself. This book will stand alone however if you have read her others it will connect along the way. You will instantly get drawn in and when you have finished the book you will take your first breath. Not realizing you’ve been holding it the whole time. Amazing book!

Jamie definitely did not disappoint yet again. She had moved to the very top of my favorite authors list. Having read all of her other books before, i had very high expectations going into this book, and I was not disappointed. I try to “forget” her other books so that I could remain impartial. (very hard to do when every book is your new favorite

Jamie Magee has done it again. Rivulet is the first book of her third series and is absolutely amazing! She has a way with words that allows her readers to feel connected to her stories. It takes little imagination to have a full screen movie play out in your mind as you read her books. You feel the emotions of the characters as they experience them and get lost in the story. In the middle of a passionate love story there is a struggle of light and dark; or as I see it, good and evil. You will be hanging on to every word and wishing the story never ends. The message behind the story is something that everyone can learn from. I love how the series are all separate from each other yet connect at the same time. Jamie has definitely made me become a life-long follower.

Rivulet is a story so unique and gripping it will have you on the edge of your seat. The twist and turns will keep you guessing and will consume your mind long after you finish. Jamie Magee is my favorite author and Rivulet is her best work yet. You do not need to read her Insight or See series in order to understand and love Rivulet, but her books are true masterpieces so I highly recommend them all.

Rivulet is a beautiful story. Indie, the main character is strong and good. This book is written with dazzling imagery, setting and intense plot. Even the antagonist has a humanity that brings a great deal of hope to the reader. Jamie Magee is brilliant at creating a world of great imagination, beauty and intense emotion. I love her writing and this book is especially beautiful. You will love it!

  7. Sabrina says:

Finding Jamie was a happy accident for me. I was browsing thru the free books on my nook, and the cover for Insight grabbed my attention. I wasn’t 3 chapters in before I went and bought EVERY ONE of the rest of the books in the series and the corresponding See series. I was lucky enough to be chosen to beta this book for Jamie, and I must say, I was not disappointed. Jamie has a way of writing a character, a scene, description of a place that makes it instantly come to life for her readers. The characters in this book are tight woven and intense but loveable. I loved how the relationships were so real. Jamie has once again out done herself. This is a MUST READ and I can’t wait to see what happens next

  8. Jenny D says:

Jamie Magee’s intricately woven web of souls continues with the introduction of the icy Indie. Genevieve Indiana Falcon has had a difficult upbringing, made even harder with her uncle’s new wife, Mrs. Rasure. It’s Indie’s tight knit group of friends that helps her through her darkest hours and keeps the cold from consuming her. A certain lavender haired friend gives Indie a priceless gift that becomes Indie’s touchstone. Until it’s red hot owner wants it back. The story continues as a nightmare comes to life and Indie finds out people aren’t who they seem, and that the past has a tendency to find itself in our present lives again.
Jamie Magee has outdone herself with this installation to her web of souls series. Unique plot lines, beautifully written characters, and a fiery, passionate love story that can melt the thickest of ice will have readers clinging to their arm rests in anticipation while eagerly turning the pages of Rivulet. Best of the series, or a great point to start reading her books if you have yet to start. This is a must read.

  9. I love your review you did a great job not spoiling it and glad to see you liked it without reading the series…I really think reading it first will give insights when u read the series…hope you get to read it soon .
